    Oh, come on, the crime rate is plummeting! Yup. Wrigleyville and its surrounding area are the epitome of this. They're desperate to keep the crime numbers as fudged as possible.

    Severely understaffed; basically no cops want to work in this area and take every opportunity to transfer out once they can.

    Guess they cant move to Rosemont, Schaumburg, Naperville, River North or anywhere with a bar scene then. These drunk sexual assaults happen everywhere. The only chance is to move the team to Sandwich, IL i guess. That's just the latest disgusting cherry on top of a turd sundae; Wrigleyville and Boystown have been going to [expletive] for a while, and to chalk it up to just being "bar neighborhood behavior" is bull [expletive] because it's clearly been getting a LOT worse in the last few years. A lot less cops, the local shelters/clubs have no money and are basically out of control, and you have the city as a whole actively fostering a "come party and whatever happens, who gives a [expletive]?" environment Everyone from Tunney to Rahm is desperate to keep what is a veritable crime wave from Belmont to Waveland out of the news; crimes are routinely reclassified to keep from seeming as bad it is, but the area is rife with whatever you want: robberies, assaults, brawls, holdups, bank/store robberies, open prostitution and now sexual assaults and actual homicides. It's a serious issue and a sad, sad downturn that's getting next to no attention. I'd honestly feel safer hanging around the Cell right now than Wrigley.

    Thanks. One last thing, just to kinda swerve it back to the halfassed point I thought I was making before; so would run differential perhaps be a more prudent tool when talking about a team that's a bit more...permanent? You kinda touch on my thinking with the mention of trades; since so much of the team seems to be made of players that will be gone, should be gone, will have less playing time, should have less playing time, etc., then it really doesn't do a whole lot in terms of being optimistic in regards to next year. Like it's a very "this team, right now"-type of stat as opposed to something more predictive.

    After 40 games, run differential is more accurate at predicting a team's win percentage for the rest of the season than their actual record or previous year's record. Once run through the pythag formula, right?

    So is there a point during the season when it becomes more "concrete?" Or is it, like sulley said, that really doesn't hold much weight until the end of the season? I've been taking it as more of a predictive stat.
