  1. Possibly not much. Hendry needs to pretty much not drive the team into the ground. Dusty probably has quite a bit more to do. If they make the playoffs, I'd be surprised if both weren't back.
  2. excuse my ignorance, but what exatcly is valley fever. Must be rare if I have never heard of it. internets is your friend! http://www.dhpe.org/infect/valley.html
  3. Because I've tried to block Felix out of my mind.
  4. http://baseball-reference.com/bullpen/Ryan_Franklin
  5. Ryan Franklin for the Mariners was also supsnded, I'm pretty sure.
  6. His W-L record isn't really the issue. At all. or any pitcher for that matter. BTW dont dismiss record completely it does factor in, it is the ultimate measure of success. I know it isnt something the pitcher has complete control over, but in the end it doesnt matter if you had 200 plus strikeouts and a great ERA, if you didnt win games you werent a success. Also when you look at the numbers it is a strong indicator of success in wins, if you have the above stats then you most likely will have a good record, but it doesnt guarentee it. A W is all that matters at the end of the day. I may very well be wrong, but thats just how I feel :D Thanks for defending yourself. I've never seen a bad pitcher win games consistantly. It's only one stat, but one that gets dismissed to often by stat boys. That's because bad pitchers that win games consistently have it catch up to them eventually. For Example: Kirk Rueter. His highest win total in a single season was 15, that came in the same year he had his highest ERA in a single full season (not counting last year). He had a 7 year stretch in which he won at least 10 games. In only 3 of those 7 years did he put up an ERA under 4. http://www.baseball-reference.com/r/rueteki01.shtml
  7. No, this kind of injury wasn't like a collision or even like DLee landing on his shoulder, that would be a WBC injury. This was something that was likely to happen in ST or at the start of the regular season anyways, that's why it's not a WBC injury.
  8. Chipper should've let the grounder hit him. That would've only been one out, right?
  9. That's what they get for bunting with Cantu.
  10. Since when is .301 well over 300? I'm probably just nitpicking, but I hate Karros as an announcer.
  11. He's not by most of the people here, as far as I know.
  12. I did cry when 9th inning of game 7 rolled around.
  13. yes Kinda cool, I suppose.
  14. Or by giving up 8 runs to South Africa. I thought the runs against teams you aren't tied with didn't matter? Or am I confused... The latter is definitely possible.
  15. You have to get "all dressed-up" to go to Wal*Mart?
  16. You don't need to have more than 3 dominant starters in the playoffs, really. Though I wouldn't call Maddux dominant. Wood, Miller, or Williams could and hopefully should handle 4th starter duties if necessary. let's get to the playoffs first.
  17. Injury prone, yeah. Average, no. There's a difference between being bad, and just being injury prone. Kerry is injury prone, but not near "bad". BTW, how's Ben Sheets' latest rehab going? I'm genuinely curious since I don't know the answer, but wasn't most of Sheets' injuries last season non arm related? And Sheets is better than Wood when both are healthy, anyway. He had/has an issue with his ear and balance, however he ended the year walking off the mound with shoulder issues. It was certainly arm related. Wasn't the end of his season due to some bad problem with his shoulder? It was something like a torn or severely pulled muscle in the shoulder. It was strange, I'd never heard of it before, I don't think. I can't remember now, though.
  18. Why in the world would the Marlins trade Willis? They had this firesale to keep Willis and Cabrera.
  19. He said we "slipped to 89-73". We were 88-74 in 03. The rest of the article is good though.
  20. Thanks for the clips. I didn't know Farns took down Affeldt last year. What happended there? Runelvys Hernandez hit Carlos Guillen in the head (I think it was Guillen) so Affeldt felt it necessary to poke at Farns. Farns then dropped him. http://www.progressiveboink.com/dugout/archive/dugout7-19a.htm
  21. I wouldn't suggest trading Wagner...your only closer in a shallow league. Doesn't seem like a good idea unless there's someone good on waivers/FA. Like was said, not enough power. No top tier power hitter, which is suprising in a shallow league like that. A good bunch of middle tier guys, but no one to put you over the top. I would see if you could rob someone of Abreu with Hernandez + Giles. If not, throw in Lee/Ibanez/Burrell instead of Giles.
