  1. i call bill of his cap.
  2. People who need an excuse not to like him, and have no other proof besides the (unfortunatley) accepted myth that he is a poor defender. Walker is a poor defender, that's no myth. He's a poor defender if you compare him to guys like Castillo/Hudson/Igauchi/, but with other 2B, Walker a mere average defender. He does the job at 2b, IMO, and that is all that counts. No, he's pretty easily below average. By all accounts, I love having him on the team, and his bat more than makes up for any defensive shortcomings, but let's not fight hyperbole with hyperbole. Walker's decidedly below average as a defender. How is he "decidedly" below average? poor range and stone hands typically will do that to you.
  3. I always thought he looked a little effeminate on the mound. Dude can fire the baseball though. He just can't control it sometimes http://users.pandora.be/eforum/emoticons4u/sad/1011.gif
  4. they have a ton more great young pitchers too. they have great young starting pitching, they just need some offense. they really need to get Kubel up and starting.
  5. i would trade prior for mauer straight up definitely. I'd give them Barrett too. I love both of them, but Mauer is a stud, and he's young.
  6. yeah, I do too.
  7. Dude, he's got power too. Didn't you see that homer yesterday? he was like *pow* and the ball went *zoom* and we was all like *clap clap clap*.
  8. http://img486.imageshack.us/img486/6389/jawdrop7rg.gif
  9. i don't think it would make a big difference.
  10. The Cubs couldn't complete the trade to acquire Brandon McCarthy and Brian Anderson due to "geographical restraints." These restraints were put in effect to end unfair trades between rivals. And why, exactly, by that logic, would the White Sox not think the exact same thing? We're allowed to charge more but they aren't?
  11. Unlike MLB, the NFL has actually done a very good job of policing themselves and taking a strong stand against performance enhancing substances. They have tough penalties and have done random testing for a long time. Additionally, they not only test for the drugs but for masking agents as well. The union and the owners both agree that performance enhancing substances have no place in the NFL and have worked together to try to keep them out of the league. This is totally different from MLB where the owners were more than willing to sweep this under the rug (until Congress got involved) and the union opposed drug testing. Because the NFL hasn't allowed the problem to get out of hand like MLB has, there's not nearly the amount of controversy surrounding the NFL. huh. never knew that. ignore whatever I said.
  12. because the level of competition in football has not been severed by a few people through brute strength yet. they might be, and probably are, just as prevalent in other sports, but the playing-field was leveled by McGwire and Sosa and Bonds and even now, Pujols.
  13. Thanks CubbieRich...I should have posted more than the link...and to show that this is not just some crazed Cub fan...Deadspin is generally a cardinals friendly site isn't it? yep, they're all cards fans.
  14. Exactly. No point in rushing him back. This season is already in the toilet. He should take his time coming back. No, no, you're wrong! Lee comes back, and Pierre will magically become a great leadoff hitter, everyone will get hits with RISP, Kerry Wood will be cured, Mark Prior will regain his old form, and we'll make the playoffs! now now, Lee isn't Pujols ;)
  15. i'd give marmol a chance to start first. the "book" isn't out on him yet, and even if it is, he's filthy. if he struggles, bring up GUUUUUUZ
  16. Arroyo's gonna hit a home run...If I'm wrong, after words I'll say, "would you believe a double?"
  17. There is no chance Pierre would accept arbitration. There is still a team stupid enough to give him a multiyear deal out there. have you seen his numbers? Have you seen that there are still guys like Bowden and Colletti running teams in this league? Can pierre play the IF? That's the only way Coletti gets him.
  18. His declining numbers certainly didnt help him remain in S. Florida though i doubt that had any bearing. he still has the brand of being a "legit" lead-off hitter, which is why he's still in the cubs lineup.
  19. uhhh, the marlins were eager to get rid of him because he cost them money.
  20. Probably Jones if Dusty's still around. I'd try for some combination of barrett/cedeno in 1-2 if we get those players. I'd say let's get the players first and worry about the lineup later.
  21. That damned computer was tough.
  22. Makes more sense just to do away with pitchers' W-L records. Should've happened long ago. Then how would they figure out who gets the Cy Young? they'd toil for hours and hours over mlb.com's game-by-game log so they could figure out the pitcher's record on his own. After about 2 games, harold reynolds would Zoolander his computer and throw it off a building and say, "THE ANSWER IS IN THERE!"
