  2. The Dodgers don't have any real need for Barrett. Russel Martin has been fine; he's cheap and young too. they probably don't need/want dempster either. If we're trading Walker to the Angels we're taking Kennedy in return. They have absolutely no need to have both of them on the team at the same time. Unless that was spun into a three team deal, of course, but that just seems too complicated. In the Mark Prior deal, I'm thinking it would take 1 or 2 pitching prospects more for that to happen. Marshall might do the track. I don't think they'd deal both of them (more specifically Milledge, as the fans sort of like Milledge) in one deal. I would love to see this happen, but I think it takes more than that to get the job done.
  3. what an awful lineup. ugggghhh at least theriot is actually playing this time around. and murton!
  4. Wanna bet that the Cubs are at or near the OBP cellar with Baker's replacement as well? the cubs will still be near the bottom most likely, but it will improve. you'd figure that at some point you'd sit down Jacque Jones or Ronny Cedeno or anybody that struggles to walk to tell them to take a pitch every once in a while. It falls on Jim Hendry more than anything, though.
  5. LB is so so much heavier than tool. i really hate maynard. tool just...i dunno...bores me. same for APC.
  6. only a part of this game will be wasting my afternoon. the other part will be wasting the last hour of my morning.
  7. See, I find Tool to be awful. The best band, lyrically, to me is Streetlight Manifesto. Technical talent would be Lightning Bolt. I've never seen them live, but I've heard LB puts on an insane live show too. Artistically...meh...that can be debated to hell. The White Stripes would be that for me though I guess.
  8. it's not really different as they're both rookies and they've both had moments where they've really struggled. Hernandez is obviously much more highly touted (as in he was the best pitching prospect in baseball before he got the call), but the point remains. you need more than 43 innings to get any kind of a read on a guy. it's really not fair that he's been given the boot whenever he struggles too. he needs to feel secure. he has nothing left to prove at AAA. gooz is great, i think he's actually going to be better, but he hasn't dominated AAA like Hill has. Give Hill 5-10 starts. best case scenario, he figures it out and he's part of the rotation, worst case is that he fails on a team that is already pretty much done this year.
  9. So, are you saying we're going to trade Murton, Cedeno, and Wuertz to Seattle for Rafael Soriano, Clint Nageotte, Yuniesky Betancourt, and two minor leaguers? would you be surprised?
  10. rich hill has pitched 43.1 innings in his career. i think he has a lot more time to prove himself. didn't really see the mariners give up on Hernandez after his rough start. i don't think the twins are going to give up on scott baker. hill has plenty of time to prove himself still. his only problem is age, which is a rather large problem, but it doesn't really bother me so long as he "figures it out" as a Cub.
  11. wasn't he the guy that said dusty needed to be fired about a week ago?
  12. the ramones i guess, but only because they were part of the late 70's punk scene that influenced all of the punk I listen to today. and pop-punk is alright, but the mainstream stuff (green day, my chemical romance, etc) is all awful. however, i will be the first to admit that I'm a big Adicts fan and i like my fair share of the poppy side of punk.
  13. Who's worse? Joe Morgan is there year-round, and that alone may make him worse, but Tim McCarver is extraordinarily bad. He's so bad, that even though he only announces on a national stage for half the season or so, he may be able to make up for the ground he loses in the first two months of the season. Or maybe you hate someone else? Don't vote for Hawk seeing as how he is technically just a local announcer. I'm really only interested in national announcers.
  14. Show him what he's won! http://images.rottentomatoes.com/images/movie/coverv/77/164077.jpg YES!
  15. i'd like to take this time to point out that I picked him before it started. http://fthecubs.blogspot.com/2006/07/ryan-howard-will-win-home-run-derby.html ahem /awaits prize. /2 days later still waiting...
  16. I predict no one from the fecal division makes the playoffs.
  17. jones should have punched neifi. it would be like Major League II when the fight broke out on the food. And Uek would have been in attendance too, if I'm not mistaken.
  18. why are we winning? the plan was to get swept so dusty would be fired. oh well, 3/4 losses should be good enough.
  19. we're only a few games back of last. just a few key subtractions of a bat or a pitcher and we'll be set to take over last.
  20. Dream Theater is metal anyways, I don't know why they're in this. Whatever makes The Who advance is good in my books
  21. what does that even mean? Does he think that people actually spend time in the black box on an airplane? What the hell?
  22. I hate myself for hating this team so much. I hate everything about it. I miss my cubs. hopefully it's only a few more days until we as a fanbase can go back to rooting for our team :(
  23. you know what's pitiful? Neifi Perez has seen over a quarter of his pitches in this game.
