Len and JD were also great about this, explaining what was happening and why and giving their takes without being stupid about it. We're lucky to have a booth of adults. It's kind of funny how so many STL fans have been complaining about this because, paraphrasing, 'this is just the way it's done', meanwhile the only person in either booth who actually played in the 20th century - JD - was immediately calling Mikolas out as being bush league before the 2nd intentional pitch was even thrown.

The Cubs seem to be avoiding starting Smyly as evidenced by Ross admitting they didn't know what was going to happen the next time his turn came up. So who knows.

He replaced Dan Mclaughlin after the latter DWI'd himself for at least the second time because apparently 2 dumbass players killing themselves by driving drunk is still not enough for that organization. Remarkable that even when they're a complete disaster they remain so hateable.

Just for pedantry's sake, it very likely does. Without a qualifying offer attached to him - which he won't have if the Cubs trade him - teams can offer Bellinger money without worrying about losing a draft pick this offseason. The offers are likely to change accordingly. -
I got 8 today, got stuck on the center square, wildly guessed Jesse Orosco and missed. A friend of mine is a freaking wizard on the game and beats me almost every day. Some of the names he comes up with are nuts.

GD it all, I didn't know that name worked for the center square or I'd have used it. Only one I missed.

I only saw one AB of his but he went up 3-0 then declined to swing at a pitch he could've hit to Jupiter. He ended up with an ugly looking K. The sizzling hot streak may be ending. Luckily, Nico is picking it back up and Dansby looks great.

That part's fine (great even), but he pulled Leiter for Fulmer with 2 out and nobody on in the 8th. That was the weird part to me. I'm sure it's specific batter vs pitch stuff that I'm not privy to, just a little odd from the outside.

I think it's wildly likely that Hendricks is more valuable to the Cubs the rest of the year than he is to any other team. Put another way, I don't think anyone is offering what it takes to get Hoyer to eat the possibility of having Hendricks on the roster at 16M next year.

Weren't these violations committed during a pandemic-induced dead period? Not that that really makes them any worse, I guess, but it at least makes them less responsible. Part of what Tennessee got dinged for was that they (far more flagrantly than Michigan) were doing recruiting stuff during COVID dead periods.

Interestingly you can't even subscribe if you're outside the Cubs TV market. I'd expect there to at least be the option even though there's nothing worth bothering with outside of games, but they probably just don't want to deal with it. -

The service is clearly just targeting people who don't have or want cable/streaming TV but still want to watch the Cubs (the presumption is that if you want to watch the Cubs in market and pay for live TV you'll probably just find the service(s) that carry Marquee) so $20 a month doesn't strike me as completely insane given that knowledge. I still don't expect that to generate meaningful revenue, though. -
I only got 5 today, which I think matches my all-time worst. Whiffed a couple of times on the 200-hit spots and totally blanked the obvious Phillies/Jays name. I see they added an NBA grid today, so even more time-suck. I actually got 8 of them, which is surprising since I haven't watched a full NBA regular-season game in damn near a decade now. (I do, however, play NBA 2K, so that helps.) Should've gotten 9, but I whiffed an obvious Pistons/Suns name.
