  1. Yeah, those used to be awesome when they were relatively new. Some of them are still ok, but those aren't used very often.
  2. Stupid names for home runs: Dinger, Tater, etc Steve Berthiaume saying "Fill thine horn with oil, and go" But then again, we could go another 30 pages on ESPN things that tick us off.
  3. FSN/Comcast/Whatever shows PAC 10 football. Does TBS still show the occassional game? Comcast Sportsnet is showing a fair amount of football this year, I think TBS still has a game (usually Big 12 if I'm not mistaken) once a week, and Versus airs some Pac-10 football too.
  4. I love talking about playoff rotations in mid-August, as opposed to any previous year at this time since I have been alive. That is all.
  5. WGN airs more Cubs games than Sox games, I believe, which defrays that difference.
  6. It was regional last year. If your provider only has one channel, then you'll only get the regional game. It doesn't apply to providers with alternate channels unless you don't have enough alternates to get all of the games. South Bend's Comcast has 2, plus an allegedly HD channel that doesn't appear to broadcast in HD. We'll see how that flies.
  7. Edmonds. I knew there was a chance that Dempster could be decent - not as great as he's been, but decent. Edmonds I was absolutely certain would be 2-3 weeks of crappiness and that would be that. Instead, he not only has become the best hitter on the team since his acquisition, not only has been better than I could've thought defensively, but has won over Cubs fans completely as well as pretty much severed his ties with St. Louis. In so many ways, Jimmy is the easy choice.
  8. 3-homer game in the Lieber start a few months ago.
  9. Very well put. Though Dempster has put up numbers that were on the very high end of projections for Hill. Oh, of course. My (barely visible) point is that the Cubs have had a lot go wrong and a lot go right this season. I can't think of any really good team in recent years that had so many players be better or worse than expected by the kind of margin that Hill, Dempster, Reed Johnson, etc. have.
  10. Kyle Lohse threw at Edinson Volquez today after Volquez lost one that went up and in near Lohse. Edinson Volquez. A freaking pitcher. I seriously can't believe sometimes what a gutless, low-class organization St. Louis is, especially considering they always get so much credit for being the complete opposite.
  11. 5.5 games up...magic number is 33!
  12. Remember last September, when Ned Yost kept taking Braun out of close games for defense, only to have his spot come up for a really important AB?
  13. You know, it's still impossible to conceive that Rich Hill has done literally nothing, Derrek Lee has been mediocre at best since April, there's no one on the Cubs that has as many homers as Rick Ankiel, the three best teams in the league are in our division, Soriano has missed almost 50 games, and yet here we are.
  14. Haha, Park pulls a Lilly with his glove.
  15. Huh. That kinda sucks.
  16. Probably more lurkers there than at the park on a given day.
  17. So what do you consider Friday? Hadn't even thought about that. That'd make three.
  18. If the Cubs can hold on, this is the second absolutely HUGE comeback win against Florida this year. Both on Sunday, no less.
  19. Wow, Fredi Gonzalez. I wanted him instead of Lou originally. I sure as hell don't anymore. He's been an idiot this series.
  20. I hate this team and I hate this park. Just get rid of them.
  21. Houston? Arizona? 2 more series that add to my point. This team scalds the ball for outs insanely often. I guess it's a good sign but it drives me nuts.
  22. I have never seen a Cubs team have so many hard-hit outs as this year.
  23. I wonder what exactly they're rooting for him to do... ...or maybe the Marlins have no fans except for a couple of jackasses who showed up once five years ago.
