  1. yea, but a quarter of an inch the other way, and he would have missed completely Uh . . . yeah, of course. And that refutes my point how? you guys need to watch mighty ducks more I wanted to say something Charlie Conway-related about that comment but I didn't know if that was you were going for. Well done.
  2. Harbaugh to the 49ers for 5 years according to Schefter. You still have a week to come to your senses and realize what's going to happen to the 2011 Stanford football team, Andrew Luck.
  3. Verne Lundquist is 100x worse than Franklin in that regard and I rarely hear anything but good things about his announcing.
  4. I'm 24, so I'm playing the "it doesn't really matter if I wasn't around and aware of it" card. I've been rooting for the Panthers longer than the Cubs. and they've won 3 division championships, 4 playoff appearances and 1 conference championship, and played around .500 ball, which is reasonably good for a team that has only existed for 15 years. the jaguars have more playoff appearances but fewer division championships and no conference championships, and the texans haven't made the playoffs in 9 years of existence. Alright, well, we have officially taken a flippant end-of-post remark and spun it completely out of joint, so I'm going to concede the point. The 2011 Panthers are still fucked and that's the relation to this thread.

  6. The Carolina Panthers Train Wreck continues. We'd better work on getting an offensive line. I kinda want A.J. Green with the first pick. Bowers is sensible, but we've got to give Clausen someone to throw to, and the rotting corpse of Steve Smith is not going to do it. BTW, I guarantee that no matter how bad Carolina might be next year, they won't be #1 pick bad, because these things do not have a tendency to work out for this franchise.
  7. Vandy would definitely have a shot at getting to 10 wins in the MAC.
  8. Have the Dolphins even fired Sparano yet?
  9. His sexual harassment of women allegedly makes Brett Favre look like a hero.
  10. Not terribly surprised, and not as big a deal as it would appear. Tyler Eifert did a commendable job filling in for him this year and has a chance to provide most of what Rudolph did for ND next year. Rudolph will be a nice pickup for someone.
  11. I'm not going to be very happy if Michigan fires Rich Rod and replaces him with Brady [expletive] Hoke. Yeah I don't think Hoke's resume is impressive enough yet to say he should be the next Michigan coach. I mean he has done well enough at Ball State and SDSU but it still is kind of a limited sample size. Plus how often does Ball State get a kid with the talent of a Nate Davis? About as often as we are coached by a coach as good as Hoke. I'd be with you if it was just Nate Davis, but the guy immediately turned San Diego State, a program that had been worthless since Marshall Faulk left, and came within a couple of razor-thin defeats against TCU and Utah from winning the Mountain West.
  12. For the 2nd straight time, the smart kids from Notre Dame beat the more talented but stupid kids from UConn. It is dumbfounding how stupidly the Huskies play basketball sometimes. The wild chucks they tried to tie the game in the final minute were more amusing than anything. A really big win for ND. Now, of course, they draw a 3-0 St. John's team that just beat Georgetown. South Florida and DePaul can't appear on the schedule soon enough for me.
  13. I don't even want to think about that scenario. However, ESPN.com is quoting sources within the Panthers organization that say they will take Luck if he enters the draft.
  14. It's not ideal, but I just don't see how you can possibly pass up a talent like Luck, especially if a new CBA is reached and Carolina doesn't have to pay him 50M or so guaranteed.
  15. I am still worried that Luck won't declare. Heck, even when he does I will still live with the tiny bit of fear that we will somehow screw this up. Anything's possible after the train wreck I just witnessed the last 4 months.
  16. I actually think GB will upset Philly. Gut feeling. I like both the AFC games.
  17. Weis to Florida apparently to be announced on Monday.
  18. Michigan will probably be fine with Rodriguez if they find someone who can coach a defense.
  19. That would make a lot of sense, considering McDaniel's affection for Cassel, and the ability to rub it in Denver's face. Maybe Haley is pushing Weis out and Charlie knows it. Rumors I'm seeing are that Haley doesn't like sharing the credit with Weis and wants to run the show himself. Also, Weis has said he prefers the CFB schedule to the pro schedule so he has more time with his family. He was also pretty happy those first 2 years at ND. I wouldn't be at all surprised to see the next couple of #1 HS QBs go to Florida. ETA: we should also keep in mind that Charlie has made a ton of money in the last 12 months so the difference in money is probably not the #1 factor. SB Tribune also says Weis's kid wants to get into coaching and an opportunity for him to be a student assistant at Florida is something Weis would be interested in helping him obtain. I'm a little surprised but not shocked that he'd look to get back into college football.
  20. They are changing coaches right? It shouldn't be too hard to change the lack of ingenuity thing just with that one hire. Carolina's lack of originality is a top-down thing. I don't see them hiring anyone with any brilliant new ideas. I'm just hoping they can hire a guy like Harbaugh who does really really well with old ones.
  21. ND with an awesome win over Georgetown. I love watching the Irish play defense. The transformation of this team has been unreal. I wish Brey didn't essentially play 6.5 guys - Jack Cooley's 7 or so minutes a game don't even really count - but the guys never seem to wear down. If they can split the Syracuse and UConn games to finish this ridiculous conference-opening stretch, ND will be in really good shape.
  22. It was almost certainly going to be Philadelphia or Indianapolis (if they make it) hosting that game. They weren't going to give that slot to Kansas City or the St. Louis/Seattle winner. The other three slots are harder to predict. I imagine STL/SEA will be the early game Sunday since they are playing this week on NBC already and NBC has both Saturday games. The Chiefs will probably be the early game Saturday and the Colts will be the late game on Sunday.
  23. There is basically no chance Carolina drafts Cam Newton if they trade down. They lack any ingenuity whatsoever and wouldn't have a clue how to create a system for Newton to thrive in. Carolina needs to take Luck if they want a QB. If they don't, they should trade down and pick somebody else like Bowers or Prince Amakamura or whoever.
  24. Clausen's failure, if it happens, has nothing to do with Notre Dame.
  25. Duval Kamara not playing in the Sun Bowl for unknown reasons. So that's the end of his Irish career.
