  1. Even though W/L doesn't actually mean much of anything, it's still horse [expletive] that Shark's record is on year 3 in a row of being ruined by a tanking team
  2. I literally never listen to the Reds announcers on MLBTV. The only way I ever would is if they played the White Sox in interleague. Oh [expletive], now the Cubs have to score TWO runs to win. Too rich for their blood
  3. 1st-round schedule per Bulls.com Game 1: Sun. April 20 Washington at Chicago 6:00 p.m. CT TNT and CSN Game 2: Tue. April 22 Washington at Chicago 8:30 p.m. CT TNT and CSN Game 3: Fri. April 25 Chicago at Washington 7:00 p.m. CT ESPN and CSN Game 4: Sun. April 27 Chicago at Washington 12:00 p.m. CT ABC Game 5*: Tue. April 29 Washington at Chicago TBD Game 6*: Thu. May 1 Chicago at Washington TBD Game 7*: Sat. May 3 Washington at Chicago TBD TNT and CSN
  4. Baez and Bryant could both be up here next year and doing well and Castro and Rizzo could still be ok and this offense is still going to [expletive] suck in 2015 with black holes in the other 5 spots in the lineup.
  5. To be fair, given our offense the expectancy at 1st and 2nd and 0 out probably wasn't that great anyway. But seriously, [expletive] that move.
  6. Oh, we bunted so Kalish could chase a horse [expletive] pitch in the dirt and strike out. I see.
  7. Why did we bunt with Castillo to get to Kalish? Good lord
  8. That's odd. This team is more interesting to me than those. It isn't to me. Everything interesting about the 2014 Cubs, save Rizzo and Castro, is in Iowa right now.
  9. It really is incredible how sick everyone is of this [expletive] show already. I lasted much longer each of the last 2 years.
  10. it's actually been the Cards so far (.600 OPS)...we've been about 100 points better than that And if that's still the case in September, I'll be a happy (or at least less disappointed) man. Not betting on it.
  11. I agree that all of what he's saying is ridiculous...that said, I wouldn't go quite that far. Exaggeration, probably, but the point remains the same - if Theo's little prospect experiment is really his only plan for making us good (not that I'm saying gscool thinks that it is), we're gonna be bad for a long time, because some aren't going to make it.
  12. This I don't care about. Doesn't fit in our window and we were never going to out-bid the Yankees. Plus, outfield is not a need. This is a joke, right? The outfield is a nightmare of awfulness. Right now it is, look at our system. The odds of Almora, Soler and Bryant all becoming starter-quality big league outfielders without incident are about the same as us making the playoffs this year. The overwhelming likelihood is that for one reason or another, at least one will not become what we hope they will. If Theo's really banking on that, we really are screwed.
  13. Plus, outfield is not a need. I don't necessarily think the Cubs should've paid Ellsbury a boatload of money, but this is simply a ridiculous statement. We have maybe the worst offensive outfield in baseball, including the Astros now that Springer is up.
  14. I'm already excited for the two B-level prospects we'll get for him.
  15. Supposedly the Cubs' pitcher selects the road uniform, or at least that was the reason given for why the Cubs even bothered to bring the "Chicago" grays to Pittsburgh for the opening series (which led to Lake's snafu).
  16. Cubs wearing the blues for the first time this year.
  17. My best guess? 2016 or 2017, depending on how lucky we get with pitching injuries. Yeah, I won't argue that. Although I could see playoffs next year with a few things going right. But I think we'll have a long run of success, but so will the Cards and Pirates. My prediction is 8 playoff appearances out of 10, starting in 2016. I don't think anything this front office has done in their time here has given me even a sliver of hope that they are capable of putting on that kind of run. Nobody makes that kind of run in the modern MLB, and all they've done so far is put together a top-5 farm system, something half the teams in the league have every five years or so. And that's setting aside the fact that STL and Pittsburgh are both loaded with young talent as well as having a head start on being good at the MLB level.
  18. We're on pace to lose 108 games, so that's an interesting interpretation. (Yes, I know we're not likely to actually lose 108 games, but we're also not likely to be near .500, so I'd say another 90-loss season, which would not qualify as 'lose little' IMO, is very much in play.)
  19. We have a better chance of beating Indy than Miami, but hot damn would it be sweet if we could somehow beat Miami. We'd have to beat them eventually anyway, so whether it would be in round 2 or 3 would only be a difference of how many games it took to get there (captain obvious).
  20. For whatever it's worth, the A's only once were more than 11 games under .500 in the 2007-2011 span, so unlike the current Cubs, they weren't embarrassing themselves in between playoff appearances or racking up awesome draft picks.
  21. I [expletive] hate St. Louis. At least I don't have to watch them again for a while
  22. I think we've all been Cubs fans long enough to know there is no such thing
  23. Oh, darn. I hope this game doesn't get rained out and Jackson has to not pitch again for 5 more days.
  24. I hope he's not in the team in 2015. I hope he's not on the team tomorrow. Haha, I almost posted this.
