  1. Mets win, Pirates won. SF can make it a trifecta.
  2. With a non-zero chance of a pennant flying over Wrigley Field to console us. I'm looking forward to the first time the Cubs struggle in 2016 and we get a round of "Well, this is just the first year of our true glory and these guys are all still so young. Wait until 2017, that's when it really matters." But with all of your ifs, you could poke a hole in what would have happened had they not gone into a rebuild mode. It's a never-ending exercise. If we hadn't gone rebuild, what if the last four years sucked and what if this was the fifth straight year of crap? What if? Our run differential is about to go into the negatives. This isn't the fifth straight year of crap, but it's not that far away from it.
  3. Had it wrong, I guess. Give it time. The Rockies have a much better offense than Philly.
  4. That pushes our run differential into the negatives I believe. -1
  5. Dodgers have rallied to tie the Mets
  6. No it's just a bad weekend imo but obviously things are trending downward so while its concerning its not hot garbage level yet They're about to be 5-8 in a stretch against the White Sox, Braves, Reds, and Phillies. It's not just one bad weekend 1-The game isn't over yet 2-yeah not a great stretch of games but the sky isn't falling and we've proven to be a lot better of a team. My biggest concern is that of the regulars half of them (Fowler, Castro, Soler and Russell) have hit well below expectations, 3 of them have hit about at expectations but probably all 3 have hit slightly worse than we hoped (Rizzo, Bryant, Montero) and 1 player better than probaly expected (Coughlan). And of those eight, 5 of them and trending downwards (I'm giving Soler and Russell a break because they've both had better abs and hitting ball better lately) including the 2 best overall hitters. So i want to better understand why pretty much an entire offense is underachieving and if anything showing signs of getting worse. We've all seen entire offenses slump before but it's rare when its for this extended period of time. I know people think the hitting coach thing is a meatbally scapegoat but how else do you explain it? Part of it may be a lot of young hitters getting used to the majors but that doesn't explain the extended slumps of Castro, Rizzo, Fowler and montero before his injury. If it's just a really unfortunate coincidence that everyone is slumping at once then it should correct itself and we will be fine and eventually play better. If it's terrible coaching, not finding mechanical flaws, not properly preparing hitters for the pitchers they are facing, then a chance has to be made to see if it helps at all. Because it can't get much worse The Cubs fired Gerald Perry for a lot less [expletive] cause than they currently have with Mallee, I know that much. Like you said, there's no way to directly say he's responsible for basically everyone going in the tank at once, but I don't know what else to do at this point.
  7. I don't think I want them to buy. The players who are supposed to be doing well are going to start doing well or they're not. We won't make the playoffs unless they do, regardless of anything else.
  8. The pitching staff was going well over their heads for a while and it was the only thing keeping us afloat.
  9. If not for Schwarber going Hulk and Bryan Price IBBing the guy in front of Bryant, we'd be staring at 3-10 in this supposedly easy stretch.
  10. Joe is pulling some head-scratchers of late. The way Bryant is making contact, why risk it?
  11. This is [expletive] hysterical. This team has to be setting a record for outs on rocket shots.
  12. Pen is fine (would be better if Maddon hadn't installed one of our worst relievers by peripherals as closer). Pretty much everywhere else needs an upgrade.
  13. So this is what it's like to be on the other side of a [expletive] team randomly deciding to be good against a team in contention.
  14. Our pitchers were never going to keep going like they were the whole rest of the season. If we had an offense worth a [expletive] that wouldn't be that big a problem.
  15. There are 25 ABC games, and I'm not surprised many of them are in July. June-August, especially on weekends, are the months where ABC games don't interrupt regular programming.
  16. Definitely need to move by Tuesday, and I suspect the FO knows it, which is why they listed Tuesday as TBD
  17. At least these guys are going to the AL, so far
  18. Trading for a pitcher to join this offense at this point would be tantamount to a violation of the Geneva Convention.
  19. Remember when we were almost no hit in Philadelphia and actually rallied to tie it back in 04? Let's do that again
