  1. 4.57 FIP. 4.55 xFIP. This had better be a sixth starter/long reliever/depth move.
  2. Carrasco would be a terrific move, but Cleveland's supposedly been asking for the moon for him.
  3. Lou Brock had 7 seasons where he had more WAR than Castro has ever had through year 6. I think we're ok.
  4. I don't want to give up Baez in this trade, either, mind you...but you think Tyson Ross is an "average end of the rotation pitcher?" what kind of control would we have over Ross? What's his contract like? I honestly don't know. And I'm on my phone at a boring law conference, so I don't want to screw around on Google trying to find out. I'm sure you know, so tell me. Years of cheap control over Baez isn't something I want to give up lightly. Ross is controllable through 2018.
  5. Broxton has been bad but his peripherals indicate he shouldn't be as bad as he has been. That plus the inevitable STL performance bump means that's probably a good acquisition.
  6. I would hope Theo wouldn't give up Baez for a reliever. If we really move Javy, we'd better be getting Ross.
  7. Sox have been linked to Kimbrel, we've been linked to Ross, SD and Castro is apparently a thing. I wonder what other pieces might be in there. Venable? And who do the Sox give up in such a deal?
  8. There's no way we're getting Happ, that has to be a smokescreen. If we do trade for him I'll join SCS in the heroin-injecting parade.
  9. Nothing will beat the moment when I was watching Baseball Tonight's trade deadline addition when Gammons said that Nomar didn't get traded and then about 2 minutes later it was reported Nomar was traded to the Cubs. Haha. I remember I was visiting family and obviously we didn't have smart phones or whatever to check the news, but on the way there I was listening to the Cubs postgame and they said basically that the Cubs were not going to make any moves, so I kind of came to terms with it only to find out like 45 minutes later by my Boston friends texting me about how devistated they were. In a way I will remember those pre-smart phone moments like that way more vividly than I will remember refreshing my phone constantly for 6 days in a row waiting to see if Jon Lester signed with the Cubs. Absolutely. I had to go to work at my movie theater job that day and since I had to leave I assumed we weren't getting Nomar. Then two of my friends actually swung by the theater to tell me that we had and assure me Clement wasn't involved (I'd made no secret of the fact that I was against trading Clement for him). That was a great day.
  10. Makes it all the more important the Cubs get Ross if they want to get in
  11. Usual [expletive] of them deciding to score runs the one [expletive] time they ever give up any, but what they do doesn't really matter anymore.
  12. Soler strikes out on two straight balls
  13. Yet another huge Rizzo hit off a lefty. Keep bringing those guys in, other managers
  14. Jimmy [expletive] Nelson with an absolutely perfectly pitched at-bat with over 100 pitches in the 7th. Sure why not
  15. If Castro is so [expletive] useless that Maddon has to hit and run with him up every single time to avoid a DP (which doesn't even always work), why are we playing him?
  16. Chapman is signed through next year. The trade would be for 2016.
  17. So us not getting a run in from 3rd with 0 out against Nelson while Milwaukee gets one in from 2nd (and counting) against Arrieta might end up the difference in the game.
  18. Ross and Kimbrel are both locked up through 2018, so if the rumors of us going after them are true I'd say that qualifies.
  19. Honest to God, I'm not saying he needs to be fired but it's incredible how you don't even hear a whisper of this from anyone even as everyone in baseball agrees our offense is bad.
