  1. With most other GMs I'd just assume he didn't get what he wanted and is justifying it with a CYA quote, but this guy might actually believe it.
  2. Hunter's numbers don't exactly scream big pickup. He's better than Soriano and maybe Motte too, I guess.
  3. Sigh. After all this Ross and Carrasco talk, it's a real kick in the nuts if nothing happened.
  4. He was really really good last year. Might be worth seeing if we can Edmonds him. Eh, maybe. Without doing any research at all, it feels like middle infielders don't tend to get it back once they lose it. Although Utley's peripherals aren't spectacularly different than last year. So who knows.
  5. Boston was mentioned, but I'm pretty sure Cubs are favorites at this point.
  6. I've actually gone the other way. I think the fact that they're in all these reports indicate the Cubs are going to do something. Just couldn't guess what.
  7. Gammons claiming we're down to 'small move for a reliever' and says all parties are denying the 3-team deal was ever a thing
  8. Rosenthal has source saying Wood a 'long shot'
  9. Wood is almost certainly a smokescreen, but what an enticing smokescreen.
  10. Ross has a FIP just a shade better than Lester's. I can't lie, I'm getting fired up at the prospect of landing him.
  11. Prospect guys have any thoughts on Pineyro? Elliot Soto is a nothing, but just from surface numbers Pineyro looks like a decent return from Miami's perspective.
  12. I hadn't even thought about trading Hendricks, but if the Cubs think he won't get better than he is now, maybe it is the time to sell pretty high on him. This should be interesting.
  13. Yep. Haren pitched yesterday. All the more reason to believe this isn't it.
  14. Worley has a better FIP but has been used as a reliever of late and probably couldn't eat as many innings as Haren can.
  15. [tweet] [/tweet] Doesn't mean we won't trade with SD ourselves, but 3-teamer appears to be off.
  16. "Multiple Minor Leaguers"?!? Ugh. That doesn't mean we gave up anyone good. I'd be stunned if anyone with even a breath of future on this team was moved.
  17. I'm thinking/hoping this is a 'break glass in case of emergency' backup plan in case Theo can't get the right price on Ross.
  18. And it's not like he consistently outperforms them either. In fact he had underperformed his peripherals more often than not prior to this season. Alarm bells all over the place.
