  1. No. One SI.com article said the only defensible thing about the deal is how bad it makes the team now, and I think that's the closest thing to a defense I've seen. And the hell of it is, it probably doesn't even make the team THAT bad unless Dunn and LaVine both turn into their worst-case scenarios. A basket of future picks probably would've made the team really bad, but they wouldn't even go that route apparently. FWIW, Boston supposedly wasn't offering 3 or next year's Nets pick (Danny Ainge is allergic to trading anything with any value at all), so who knows if there was a better deal out there.
  2. Paxson said their job is to rebuild through the draft, which should've been followed by 50 questions in a row about why they traded away a horsefeathering first round pick today
  3. I don't know anything about Bell but I was just about to think 'well at least we grabbed someone everyone on NBA Twitter thinks should've gone several picks ago' and, nope, just sold him off. What an absolute travesty this franchise has become.
  4. This is odd I'm just glad they started the rebuild instead of wasting another season of hopeful mediocrity. Again, I'm not a huge fan of the return. But I do like LaVine. He's a gamble right now, but I'm OK with that. I HAD liked Dunn. Its not inconceivable he's able to turn into a solid point. And I like Markkonen. That said, I expected a future pick or two, plus keeping 16.(assuming we were dealing with Minnesota and those guys were in the deal) I'd have preferred dealing with Phoenix. I don't think Boston had any real intention to get him, or they would have him. Thank God they picked a direction, decided to rebuild and immediately traded away a mid 1st rounder
  5. We don't get 16. Minnesota does. What a horsefeathering terrible move
  6. Well, we just let a relief pitcher score a run, so that was cool.
  7. If any fan base should be leery of the magic 'blow it up' strategy, fans of the 1999-04 Bulls ought to be. The Bulls did pretty decently in the draft in that span considering who was available for their picks - even if you factor out Brand because they stupidly traded him, Chandler, Hinrich, Deng and Gordon were all pretty good picks - and the team created from those picks got us all of 1 playoff series win. Personally, I'd like to see Jimmy stay unless someone wants to pay through the nose in assets for him, but IMO neither path will mean much with GarPax running the show.
  8. Damn, I completely missed Contreras in LF on first look. First time this year, right?
  9. Bow to your new overlord. (I have almost no one on the perfect team score list, which strikes me as crazy)
  10. I love Jimmy and don't want him to leave, but if they can get some snazzy assets for him they pretty much have to do it
  11. The fact that I keep missing games like last night and seeing stupid ones like tonight isn't helping my already negative perception of this squad
  12. I don't know that Gottlieb is a regular on that show, but I also have never had it on, so I don't know. He's a clown, but he's probably closer to respectable than either of the other 2.
  13. Happ has just seemingly effortless power. That was so pretty.
  14. I've never felt like he was fixed, but at least when I see him come up I don't immediately concede he's going to bounce it to second base.
  15. I'll still take Michael, but I don't know how anyone could ding LeBron for that series.
  16. The 2015 Cubs were still only 5 over .500 after the Phillies swept them in late June (the Hamels no-no series), and 5 over again when they lost the day after the Bryant walk-off vs Colorado. So I guess they need to be given at least until the end of the month.
  17. Steve Kerr is so great.
  18. This is the cheapest inning I've seen in a long time
  19. What's up with Rizzo? Unless there's more to this that I don't know, David is probably just referring to the pictures that have occasionally made the rounds showing Rizzo partying with large amounts of attractive women. For whatever it's worth, it's been a while since I've seen one of those photos and we don't know how long he's been with his fiancee, although we can safely assume it was at least a little while before the World Series, since he felt the need to bring up that she was in bed with him the night before Game 7 in his Players Tribune piece.
