  1. 80 or so games starting in July is probably a best-case scenario right now.
  2. Good fit for him. The NFC South should be interesting outside Atlanta. That team’s going to suuuuck. Carolina's not going to be any good either unless the defense gets a LOT better (given their best defensive player just retired and their 2nd-best is leaving in free agency, seems unlikely). Bridgewater is solid but he's not going to win games by himself.
  3. Cam Newton is being allowed to seek a trade. Please go get him, Chicago, I want to keep watching him play.
  4. [tweet] [/tweet]
  5. The NFLPA narrowly approved the new CBA, so 17 games start in '21, and 14 playoff teams start this year. The owners are smart. They upped the minimum salary by a pittance to basically bribe the poorer players with this terrible-ass deal.
  6. Devonte Green and De'Ron Davis become the first IU senior class since 1972 to not play in a tournament game at all in their 4 years.....the day after they probably clinched getting to the tourney. I still wish they could at least release a bracket even if just for record keeping reasons. Dayton should be able to say that they were a 1 seed in 2020. Rutgers should say that the last year they made the tourney was 2020, not 1991. Juwan Howard should be able to say he guided his team to the tournament in his first season, etc etc But now it’s like there was no season at all and all the watching, reading about, discussing was pointless. I guess it’s not pointless for regular season conference champs or the smaller conference tourney champs, but for everyone else it’s like the season never happened A fellow Notre Dame fan said to me yesterday that we could've saved ourselves a lot of grief over the repeated close losses this year (they had 8 by 5 or less) if we'd known they meant literally nothing.
  7. I feel watched certain plays and certain Innings from time to time, but I've never actually sat and re-watched any full game. When I got the blu-ray World Series set I watched the radio overlay from the games I watched and the regular broadcast of the games I had to listen to on the radio like a nerd. I was also up late with an infant a few times in there, which helped.
  8. Kansas and Arizona State too.
  9. B1G, SEC, AAC, Big 12 have wiped out. MAC pushed back tip time of the first game today by an hour, and I'm guessing that ends in cancellation. ACC hasn't yet, but I'm guessing everybody will be called off by the end of the day.
  10. They're clearly not going to do the only sensible thing and cut him, so he should literally never play unless we're up or down 7 or more.
  11. YouTube TV has renewed licenses for most of its FSNs - they're dropping YES (Yankees) and Fox Sports Prime Ticket (Angels, I believe) - but there's no mention of Marquee, so I'm guessing they're not picking it up.
  12. If Theo could've been 100% honest he definitely would've said, "Look, guys, I didn't want it to look this obvious that we were gaming his service time, I would've brought him up later than the exact day we secured the extra year but all my other third basemen got hurt"
  13. Rizzo out here taking shots
  14. Never heard that story before.
  15. I admittedly have no idea how Marquee's lack of carriage could affect the Cubs' revenue, but 'more than double' sure shoots a hole in the idea that 'this network isn't an immediate money boost and that's why we have to sit out another off-season'. The problem though is how much of the 132 million is actual new money coming in? Not sure the actual ownership breakdown but i'd say at least half of that 132 million being paid to the Cubs is them paying themselves through Marquee. Yeah, that's what I was referring to in the first half of the post; the Cubs having an ownership stake complicates the revenue picture. Still, from that nugget, it looks like at a minimum they should be netting what they did before as far as TV money.
  16. This is why you sign 50 quad-A relievers, I guess.
  17. https://www.bloomberg.com/amp/news/articles/2020-02-27/cubs-channel-that-fans-can-t-see-symbolizes-sports-network-woes? I admittedly have no idea how Marquee's lack of carriage could affect the Cubs' revenue, but 'more than double' sure shoots a hole in the idea that 'this network isn't an immediate money boost and that's why we have to sit out another off-season'.
  18. Just a bang up job partnering with the company whose channels are getting yanked left and right.
  19. Adore that Javy stroke. Do not adore the R logo on the Royals' jerseys. What is that?
  20. I don't want a strike-zone hologram, but hopefully they'll have some sort of pitch-track box during the regular season. I completely agree about the out dots. I actually had to look for them for a second the first time I saw the graphic.
  21. I'm already bracing myself for the Bulls to jump into the top 3 this lottery now that there are no particular prizes waiting. I've seen Vernon Carey of Duke play for like 16 minutes and he seems ok but I know nothing of anybody else.
  22. From Len Kasper to Chip Caray. BTW, I know nothing about Taylor McGregor, but I was amused by the fact that within the first 15 seconds she was on the air, she used the phrase "we got boned" in reference to the weather being unusually bad in Mesa.
  23. Fairly lame that the Marquee broadcast isn't on MLB.TV today. I guess they limit bandwidth in spring training.
  24. They've done that for a couple years now. I hope they branch out beyond just stuff that happened last year at some point. It's pretty funny watching Astros highlights.
