  1. So I guess I was the only Cub fan who liked Chip???? Funny if anything was going to get me ridiculed I thought it would be the second half of that sentence...
  2. Amen, brother. He's got nothing on Chip Caray but Len Kasper is possibly the most underrated sportscaster in the business. I think he's awesome. I don't know why Brenly keeps getting these honors, he seemed to ramble endlessly during the season. If he were replacing McCarver, I'd be all for it, though.
  3. If the Halos go down tonight, I may not watch another game this season. The only four teams I dislike would be the last ones standing. How evil are the Baseball Gods anyway?
  4. The best option right now is an Angels-Cardinals World Series. I don't much like the Cardinals, but the fact is that with a healthy team, the Cubs would have been much better than Houston this season. The Cards are a good team that deserves to be in and their fans are, for the most part, classy. As for the Angels, I don't particularly care for them either, but they're not the White Sox or the Yankees. If we have a ChiSox-Stros Series I might just go 2003 and pretend that baseball ended early.
  5. Wang may try to work Pujols inside, and if he does that then I truly believe that Wang will bust out and become just as good as the Big Unit at sticking it to the opposition.
  6. I know that now, but the press was saying Pitt was overrated by halftime of ND's win over them. Of course Disney gainfully employs Mark May despite his disastrous prediction that the Irish would start 0-6. I think ND can beat USC...I have no clue whether they will but I will say that Weis has overwhelmed all the defenses except for UM so far...not that this means much, but I think he's got something special planned this week.
  7. I was just judging on this weekend's events. Minnesota's win at the Big House makes PSU's blowout of the Gophers look even better, and makes ND's win over the Wolverines less impressive. PSU's win over Northwestern looks better after the Wildcats beat an undefeated Wisconsin team yesterday. The ND wins versus Pitt and Washington are wins over garbage teams, and the win over Purdont looks less impressive since the Boilermakers got thoroughly trashed by Iowa at home yesterday. And the obvious difference, ND has a loss and PSU doesn't. I guess we will get a better view of where they stand when PSU travels to Michigan this week. That will be a very, very tough game for PSU... so much emotional energy went into beating Ohio State, and Michigan will likely be very angry after losing to the Gophers. Fair analysis. I think the ND's schedule looks a little weaker every week. It doesn't help that the Big 10 keeps beating up on each other. USA Today Poll just came out Week 7 USA Today Poll 1. USC (57) 5-0 1,544 2. Texas (4) 5-0 1,488 3. Virginia Tech (1) 6-0 1,425 4. Georgia 5-0 1,348 5. Florida State 5-0 1,290 6. Miami 4-1 1,187 7. Alabama 5-0 1,156 8. LSU 3-1 1,049 9. Notre Dame 4-1 998 10. Penn State 6-0 942 11. Texas Tech 5-0 918 12. UCLA 5-0 862 13. Florida 5-1 840 14. Boston College 5-1 657 15. Ohio State 3-2 572 16. California 5-1 563 17. Michigan State 4-1 540 18. Tennessee 3-2 473 19. Louisville 4-1 460 20. Auburn 4-1 444 21. Oregon 5-1 311 22. Minnesota 5-1 303 23. Wisconsin 5-1 293 24. Colorado 4-1 184 25. West Virginia 5-1 91 VT closes the gap between them and Texas! ND # 9! People were calling Pitt and Michigan overrated teams as soon as ND beat them, and ever since they have made excuses for every ND win, so I'm not surprised. I'd be shocked if even one presser picks ND to beat the Trojans next week even though USC has looked mediocre in their last three first halves and ND has thoroughly dominated all their opponents except for the Spartans.
  8. This game is setting offensive football back 50 years.
  9. 13 million in freed up Sosa money -- 8M for Giles 5M for Nomar
  10. I think they do factor in because they factor in offensively. What does it matter if you're 117th or 116th though? There are 119 teams so you won't be last either way.
  11. While I'm sure no one really cares, my BSU Cardinals just finished outlasting Western Michigan 60-57 in FIVE overtimes, ending the Broncos' three game win streak. No Bottom 10 this week, baby!!!!! In fact we have a puncher's chance of winning the MAC West division! :)
  12. I would not have guessed that Texas had been worse than we were.
  13. That's what USC can do to you. They'll let you think you can win and then they'll pick you off inside their own 10 and drive 90+ yards for a TD inside of a couple of minutes.
  14. INT Trojans. There goes the upset bid.
  15. And now Zona is driving right back down the field...Jeez. To the USC 31 now.
  16. At least they scored again, 35-21 now with about 13 mins left.
  17. Why's that?
  18. I don't see how this is embarassing. USC isn't going to blow out everyone, but which national championship contender ever has? The Oregon game ended up being a blowout. To be quite frank, with this schedule, they should be blowing out the majority of their opponents. USC probably has better talent on their third team than half the teams in the top 25.
  19. This is embarrassing. The last two games I could understand -- ASU and Oregon are solid teams. But Arizona??? USC might lose two of the ND-UCLA-Cal games at this rate.
  20. Buffalo lost again today, so barring a complete embarrassment of a showing against W. Michigan my BSU Cardinals won't be last place on Sportsline next week! :) *sarcasm*
  21. I joined from there too. If you like getting a non-Cub fan's perspective once in a while it's a great place to go.
  22. Iowa State just lost to Baylor 23-13 at home. I'd say the Tigers have a good shot in that game.
  23. I wholeheartedly agree with every word of this post, except for the Astros part only because I don't know any Astros fans myself.
  24. Less than 3 mins left in the 1st half and it is 7-7 between Arizona and USC. I get more and more convinced each week that I will be attending a great win for ND over USC next week.
  25. Texas wins 45-12. For the 2nd straight week Corso picks an upset and his chosen team gets destroyed. Last week he foolishly went against Charlie Weis and my Irish.
