  1. Byrd plunks Rowand. That didn't look good for the control issue. Alright I'll ask...what the hell is with those stupid things that look like high school letter jackets that the managers are wearing?
  2. Well here he is. Hope for the best.
  3. Scioscia pitches out and one of the Super Molina Brothers nails Scotty Pod stealing. Have I mentioned that I want Scioscia managing the Cubs?
  4. Aw crap. 3-2. Pierzynski, one of the 15 players on the Sox having the best year of their lives, with another 2 out hit.
  5. Lackey is hurt too? Ok, best REGULAR SEASON pitcher. I stand corrected.
  6. Somewhere there's a liberal dying to make a Bush joke in there somewhere...
  7. Heck of a catch by Erstad there to bail Byrd out with a 3-1 lead.
  8. I guess they did have Chuck Knoblauch highlights in Japan. I thought Iguchi must have learned second base from somewhere.
  9. You can put it on the booooaaarddd, YES! Halos up 1-0 on a Garret HR!
  10. If the Sox win this series I probably won't watch the World Series. It's too depressing to watch a so-called 'small ball' team with 7 15-HR hitters continue to watch Graffanino become the new Buckner, and the Halos' best pitcher go down for the series...aarrgghh.
  11. How big a Cards fan can you be if you would dump them for the Cubs just because the Cubbies get an overrated overpaid center fielder?
  12. Watch for me on ESPN College GameDay at ND this week. I am going to try to make a sign that makes fun of Leinart's ballroom dancing class.
  13. He's been right twice all year with those stupid headgear picks and one of them was USC which doesn't count since it was an obvious pick. If he picks USC this week and they win I'll give him some credit (and he will pick USC...he hates the Irish), but he's sounding less credible every week.
  14. K-State and IU both lost fairly decisively to the only decent teams they played this season (Oklahoma and Wisconsin respectively). I'd wager those games will both be routs.
  15. I agree...as long as it's the Cubs or the Bulls.
  16. Hatred by some. Healthy respect for most. Same is true for me and the Astros. I agree, Cubs/Cards 'hatred' is mostly a myth. There are some bitter fans on both sides but mostly it is a healthy, friendly rivalry. I would rather have the Cards win than the Astros or the Sox because a) their fans aren't obnoxious and b) they're probably the best team remaining and they deserve to win.
  17. Dusty names Jose Macias as his 2nd hitter, centerfielder, 1st guy off bench in every game he does not start That will be the 2nd part of that headline Then on August 1st it will be: Cubs deal Derrek, Ramirez due to low RBI totals
  18. This game got gifted to the Sox. Two cross-country flights in less than 24 hours, a spent bullpen, and the Halos have to send Paul Byrd to the hill because everyone else went last series. If the Angels pull this one off I will be stunned and happy about it.
  19. Some people were angry at PSU for canceling 4 official visits for this weekend, but it was the right move. Since it was a night game, all day Saturday was taken up by the Ohio State game. Really, they'd only have a couple of hours on Sunday to talk with the recruit and show them around campus before they'd have to leave and head back home. Still, over 30 recruits made unofficial visits and were on the sidelines during the game, and I don't think can underestimate what a game like that can do for recruiting. Close game, national TV, beating a national powerhouse, with 110,000 fans behind you (OK maybe like 105,000, there were some Buckeye fans there). I had chills, and I was up in the stands... I can't imagine how it felt to a 17 or 18 year old high school senior standing and looking up, hearing the roar of the crowd. Hopefully the effects of that game will translate not only into a great rest of this year, but also a great recruiting class that will keep PSU good for years to come. Logan-El is the third ranked guard right now. Not too shabby. However he already gave a soft verbal to Maryland, and still has to visit Florida and Tennessee. If he is moving PSU to the top of his list after already verbaling to Maryland, and he still has more visits I would not put a lot of stock into what he says. I see what you are saying about the cancellation of the visits but I thought that was pretty bad for them to do. Why cancel four visits on the biggest home weekend of the year, but still allow others to come unofficially? It seemed to me that if you are trying to sell your football program, why not bring them in for a huge game such as what they had this weekend. However I hope to see PSU get some recruits and build a good program up again. Just get rid of JoePa. JoePa is no longer the problem. The gripe was that he wasn't giving young kids a chance. But now the top three wide receivers on the team are all freshmen. Paterno or not, I think the Nittany Lions tally a championship by the end of the 2007 season.
  20. How about this: Prior, Zambrano, Wood, Maddux and Williams through the infield; cut Lee, Ramirez and Walker; and no starting pitching at all. World Series here we come! Forget that. Eight pitchers, all playing in left field, and Ramirez pitching. We'll have Blanco close. We will NOT be stopped!!!
  21. Against the White Sox? I disagree, he has sucked his last 4 or so starts anyways... http://losangeles.angels.mlb.com/NASApp/mlb/news/article.jsp?ymd=20051010&content_id=1245392&vkey=news_ana&fext=.jsp&c_id=ana if Colon misses the whole series (which might be possible), the Sox have no excuse to not winning the ALCS. And yet watch them lose anyway. They probably wouldn't even be there if the BoSox didn't insist on pulling a Cubs with RISP or if Graffanino knew how to field a friggin groundball. Anyone notice former Chicago players did a lot for the Sox so far in the playoffs? First Clement, then Graffanino. I expect Colon to come back and give up a game winning homer somewhere to keep up the tradition.
  22. uhm... NO. I think by "development" he means "all sorts of f---ing arm trouble". You'll have to excuse him, he used the wrong synonym.
  23. Angels>Cards>Astros>Yanks>ChiSox So thank the lord the Halos are ahead in the eighth inning.
  24. Yeah the new post thing isn't working for me and it is constantly referring me to that max IP screen...I don't have premium if that makes a difference.
  25. It ain't just the Sox fans that make that stadium a crap heap. Regarding Jabroni...thanks for the warning...I have gotten a few IMs from him and didn't realize who he was...now I have done the sensible thing and blocked him.
