Some people were angry at PSU for canceling 4 official visits for this weekend, but it was the right move. Since it was a night game, all day Saturday was taken up by the Ohio State game. Really, they'd only have a couple of hours on Sunday to talk with the recruit and show them around campus before they'd have to leave and head back home. Still, over 30 recruits made unofficial visits and were on the sidelines during the game, and I don't think can underestimate what a game like that can do for recruiting. Close game, national TV, beating a national powerhouse, with 110,000 fans behind you (OK maybe like 105,000, there were some Buckeye fans there). I had chills, and I was up in the stands... I can't imagine how it felt to a 17 or 18 year old high school senior standing and looking up, hearing the roar of the crowd. Hopefully the effects of that game will translate not only into a great rest of this year, but also a great recruiting class that will keep PSU good for years to come. Logan-El is the third ranked guard right now. Not too shabby. However he already gave a soft verbal to Maryland, and still has to visit Florida and Tennessee. If he is moving PSU to the top of his list after already verbaling to Maryland, and he still has more visits I would not put a lot of stock into what he says. I see what you are saying about the cancellation of the visits but I thought that was pretty bad for them to do. Why cancel four visits on the biggest home weekend of the year, but still allow others to come unofficially? It seemed to me that if you are trying to sell your football program, why not bring them in for a huge game such as what they had this weekend. However I hope to see PSU get some recruits and build a good program up again. Just get rid of JoePa. JoePa is no longer the problem. The gripe was that he wasn't giving young kids a chance. But now the top three wide receivers on the team are all freshmen. Paterno or not, I think the Nittany Lions tally a championship by the end of the 2007 season.
