    i'm pretty sure Hairston is starting either tomorrow or Thursday or even both days with 2 lefties going for the Reds. The Trib seemed to think so (via SI.com's Truth and Rumors).

    Not to derail this thread further, but did anybody see Tino Martinez's debut on Baseball Tonight about a week or so ago? I'm not sure if it was the deer-in-the-headlights look or his stilted delivery, but either way he quickly became my least favorite new guy to be added to ESPN's payroll. Why isn't an Eric Karros or AL Leiter taking Kruk or Reynolds place on that set? I'd love to see either of those guys, or Grace, taking a job like that. I'm tired of ESPN and other networks treating us fans like we're a bunch of idiots. To be honest with you, I think the average NSBB poster knows more about baseball than the average analyst over at ESPN, and that's just wrong. Maybe it's just me, but perhaps ex-professional ballplayers have more insight into the game than the college age posters on this board. If they have so much good insight, then why have they yet to share any useful forms of it with us?

    I think for this year and as long as both remain active from here on, Ramirez will be the superior player each season.

    How well did you handle that conflict? Well, like I said above, it was a FULL conversion. :D The Braves are just another team now.

    At least you have radio. It's MLB.com Gameday time for me...Gameday Audio's not even an option because I'm in the so called "blackout" range.

    Correct me if I'm wrong, but didn't Ramirez make it to the All Star game last year? I don't remember if he started or not though. He did start when Rolen missed the game due to injury.

    Nocioni does normally. Gordon had a stretch in February or thereabouts where he was playing well as a starter but on the whole he plays better when off the bench. It's a mystery why, but his 4th-quarter heroics almost always come in games he does not start. Same reasoning as Ben. Tyson almost always plays better off the bench. 4 times this year he has grabbed 20 rebounds off the bench. Thomas is not a Skiles type of player. He didn't report to camp in shape and is not a good guy to have in the clubhouse. He didn't play very well in the few games he actually got in. Hope all that helped!

    which Cubs player was Aniston fooling around with at that time? If any Cubs player was ever involved with Aniston, it just reinforces everything I love about this team.

    I'd expect Ramirez to get something on the order of 4/58 assuming his contract is reworked before he can walk.

    Not that I found his fishing comment dumb, but I would have no problem at all if he was limited to those three subjects. :lol:

    Well Ramirez is sort of locked up, it's just a matter of whether he opts out or not after this year. I cant think of a better option at 3B. How much does he have left? "I want to be a Cub for the rest of my life." I think it would take a lot for Ramirez to opt out. Either a season so astronomically good that he knew for sure that he could get a lot more on the FA market, or major shakeups that he didn't like involving the Cubs. I highly doubt he opts out.

    Mariotti actually said that anything could happen and was the only one to even consider the possibility, so let's not all hate on him here. He also commended the Trib for doing a good job at not letting the new bleachers affect the ambience in his Face Time, BTW.
