  1. Wow, ump sets the tone by calling a strike on one up and away.
  2. Who the eff is James Loney???
  3. :x USA Today going on about Z's temper. Imagine how many stories would be written if it had actually flared up yet this season.
  4. Sweet! Another simulated game! I'll be there waving my simulated foam finger and ordering simulated hot dogs and Cokes from the beautiful simulated bleachers.
  5. agreed Most extremely successful people are. I know I'd be a huge jerk if people were calling me gay and questioning my effort and motives when I was doing their stupid chat. How many of the questions where he smart-assed the posters had anything to do with that?
  6. soccer10k, here are the inconsistencies I found. I have bukie at 39, not 40 I have MrWood at 37, not 38 I have Pistolcub42 at 35, not 36 I have CubsinNC at 32, not 35 I have Treeman at 32, not 33 I have HawkCub at 19, not 22
  7. I missed this... when did he do that. I would love a link if you have it. Link
  8. Dusty doesn't hate Murt THAT much. Pierre Walker Lee Ramirez Barrett Jones Murton Cedeno Z
  9. He comes off like a prick in that Q&A, and I'm not just saying that because it's Edmonds.
  10. I might be reading way too much into this, but are you saying that he worked harder in the offseason (which was well-documented) or are you saying that he "did" something else?
  11. I sent this article to the dugout guys. The response email? hahahahhahahaha We really should have a thread devoted to these. I'm procrastinating by looking at old ones. Dugout of Unusual Size Picks to Click I've read most of these by now, but they never get old.
  12. His ERA is 3.01 career currently for those curious.
  13. Absolutely ridiculous. Does anyone who suffer an injury or two have to deal with this crap now? Ramirez's problems have stemmed from poor conditioning and swinging the bat 800 miles an hour, not from anything that would be related to steroids. The question was raised because Edmonds was more or less accused of steroids in another thread because of his injury and horrible start. I think it's a perfectly acceptable question in response to the Edmonds thread considering Ramirez has nagging injuries and is off to a horrible start. What's good for one is good for another. By the way, are you a doctor? I don't have to be a doctor when every single item about Ramirez's injuries mentions that they are the result of poor conditioning. It's widely-known by now that Aramis is not the best-conditioned player and he ends up with sore hamstrings and similar injuries because his body is not as well-equipped to deal with a long season as, say, Derrek Lee's. Nagging injuries should not automatically equal steroid speculation. Now, if the injuries in question are elbow/knee/other joint problems, that's a different story, because we know now that prolonged steroid use can lead to that due to the inability of the bone to withstand the growing muscle.
  14. There's nothing wrong with arguing, but it seems like that's all you do here. Mix it up a little. It's harmless fun. A victimless crime. Save your frustration for someone who actually makes personal attacks and doesn't know what he's talking about. Is it a good or bad sign that I think I know exactly which poster you're hinting at here?
  15. I agree. It's a nice story that Greg is pitching well at 40 and all and I know we all would like to see him retire a Cub, but that's no reason to tie up a tenth of the payroll for him, and it would take about that much to keep him around. If he really wants to keep pitching as he says he does, then he'll go to another team to do it.
  16. Leo Mazzone loves that guy. I got the feeling from that story in Cubs Nation and the other one about getting someone to pop up to third that he could talk about him for days running.
  17. But both of them will be 3 run homers if he keeps it up. Jones already has 2 hits, he got an infield single in the StL game in which he also hit a homer.
  18. Absolutely ridiculous. Does anyone who suffer an injury or two have to deal with this crap now? Ramirez's problems have stemmed from poor conditioning and swinging the bat 800 miles an hour, not from anything that would be related to steroids. And the fact that one of his best seasons was in 2005, a year in which steroids testing was around, doesn't help your case either.
  19. I believe the Bulls win the tiebreak with Washington, so a 4-way finish would be seeded: 5. Milwaukee 6. Indiana 7. Bulls 8. Washington With the Bucks and Wizards playing each other tomorrow, I believe the Bulls can clinch the 7th spot with a home win Wednesday against the Raptors. So we should root for a Pacers loss and Bulls win and we'll get the 6 seed? If the Bucks, Pacers and Wizards all lose their final game, they Bulls would get the 5 seed. (Washington 1-1 over their final two games, beating the Bucks and losing to the Pistons.) Stay away from the 5 please. I want New Jersey, definitely not Cleveland.
  20. I took manager way back on page 1. Mainly because I am awful at sports.
  21. Andy

    Bonds

You get arrested, and all you can manage is a friggin' toothpaste tube? If you're going to be juvenile, at least come up with something clever like Syringe Boy in San Diego.
  22. The subject of why he was on the tradeblock has been widely discussed in these forums for the last few months. The Cubs wanted to improve defensively up the middle and with Walker's production and his very attractive contract, Hendry thought he would be a valuable trading chip. Hendry wasn't going to let Walker go for nothing though, I am glad he held onto him, and I was wrong when I said I thought he would be traded before opening day. One of the rumors had him going to Baltimore for Matos who is hitting about .180. As the old cliche goes: "Sometimes the best trades are the ones you don't make." Exactly that, it was just a rumor. I don't think Hendry could have seriously even considered makiing that trade. And why would Baltimore even want Walker? Where would he have played? According to what I was reading, not only was Hendry considering the deal, it would've happened had Baltimore not insisted that Hendry pay the difference between Walker's and Matos's contracts (I believe just under 1 million). In short, Baltimore's complete stupidity in not realizing what they were getting saved the Cubs. What were you reading? The NSBB Walker for Matos rumor thread, mainly. BTW, the guy we almost traded for Matos is working on a .433 average.
  23. http://photos-949.facebook.com/n12/125/95/15903878/n15903878_31095949_5559.jpg I notice the AC sign is wrong again. They didn't change it to 02 for the division last year until after the Brewers series I attended, and it should be 03 now.
  24. Bryce Florie of the Red Sox is the pitcher who got hit in the face and was bleeding all over the place. MadDog's performance tonight is the best I've seen a Cubs pitcher in a very long time. Let's keep up our winning ways. :D
