  1. I'm on record as saying that Murton will be a great player in Oakland in a few years.
  2. By my count, this is the 3rd Cubs pitcher who I had literally never heard of in my life until within days of his first Cubs start (in O'Malley's case it was actually up until the morning of the game).
  3. I don't know for sure why either-he could have replaced him, put Pagan in right and Murton in left after the inning. Also why does he not start Murton and bat him 2nd???? Well, he does start Murton most of the time-the batting 2nd thing, I have no idea. I guess Dusty is still under the impression that speed > OBP. Fixed
  4. :?: The guy just doesn't know baseball. He knows the Red Sox and Yankees, and that's about it. It's more that he doesn't know the NL. He freely admitted before that he had no idea Hatteberg was having a good year because he just doesn't pay attention to them. What was more disturbing in that article to me was that he described the "NFC Central Division" during that same article.
  5. He led off again tonight. Tigers lost.
  6. Considering the first games are on Thursday, it's just about time for Derwood's weekly threads to start up, eh?
  7. There are so many ways to go with that.... Where did Ron Jeremy go?
  8. DeAngelo returned a kickoff for a TD last night. I'm getting very excited about this kid.
  9. David Letterman, Papa John, Jim Davis (Garfield guy), Bonzi Wells, Larry Bigbie...
  10. Murton is now OPSing .891 at home. He clearly has the power. Theriot OPSing .877 in his 37 ABs... Barrett reached his career high in homers today with 33 games to go. Good job Cubs. It's about time we got into the habit of scoring a bunch of runs when our ace is on the hill.
  11. Talk about a unnecessary shot to Theriot. Complete B.S. Dusty Baker is an ignorant racist jackass Just...wow.
  12. FWIW, Guzman's line as of now: 5 IP, 3 H, 0 R, 3 BB, 7 K Very nice.
  13. His percentage is now low enough that his stolen base attempts hurt the team. Just curious, what is the percentage. I'm not doubting you, I would just like to know. It's been said before that 75 percent is the benchmark at which base stealing is having no effect on the team's ability to score runs. Pierre is now at 44/61, which is 72.3%
  14. I find it hard to vote against a catcher with 20 dingers and an .850+ OPS. Jake Fox is my pick.
  15. Cards are desperate, eh?
  16. If the first post talks about a Baker quote, and you don't want to partake in the discussion, the wise thing to do would be to clicking out of the thread. It takes more time to read the thing, and send a reply, than to simply wander somewhere else. That is my plan from now on...I felt that that someone needed to bring up the redundancy of this thread, however. That's it from me. if you don't want to discuss the cubs, baker, or each day's game, i don't know why you read the threads. what else is there to talk about? we surely aren't debating how the cubs should line up their playoff rotation at this point. baker's veteran fetish is blatantly obvious, and it hurts the team in the present and, if he's still the manager, in the future. i think it's a valid discussion topic. At least the Neifi threads are dying. Thank god! How many more ways can you say "Neifi sucks"? I suspect there are more that we have yet to discover.
  17. My first thought was that this was Rocket Sauce.
  18. Smith missed Carolina's last practice of training camp. Please be better by week 1, Smitty. :(
  19. It's only $5 a month. Big Mac, fries and a coke will cost you more than that! And nsbb won't clog your arteries. [more sales job]And if you can front the 50 bucks for a yearlong subscription up front, it's only $4.50 a month[/more sales job] Someone's not a math major. It's about $4.17. Haven't taken a math class since spring 2005, and I'm damn proud of it. :)
  20. Welcome to the board! And, great story. I love this completely unjustified and, to be honest, disturbing love for Neifi that so many managers and commentators have.

  22. That time he grounded into a DP to kill a Cubs rally.
  23. Barrett flies out to center field W: Carpenter L: Mateo
