  1. Blackmon suspended 4 games. Nothing can go right for the Jags.
  2. Didn't see one devoted to the playoffs so here it is. Looks like Luongo is starting for the Canucks tonight in Game 1 due to the 'body' injury to Schnieder. Also Kesler did not skate this morning.
  3. Oduya played very well and Leddy leading the offensive charge in the zone is fun to watch.
  4. Terrible business move.
  5. http://b96.cbslocal.com/2013/05/01/susannah-collins-of-comcast-sportsnet-has-a-freudian-slip/ Dont know if this was posted yet, but it appears that the Blackhawks are having a tremendous amount of sex.
  6. Omggggggg What a game. My DVR was just running out on that OT. Is it me or was Keith playing poorly tonight???
  7. He's right. Rose is plenty healthy to play. If he can physically do it, the mental side should not be holding him back. This is really getting ridiculous. Dan Bernstein pointed out that Kerr is very connected the Bulls brass. I wonder if this is a way for them to publicly say without saying that they want Rose to play. Yeah. It's the inbetween stuff that's really annoying. They have yet to make a decision either way.
  8. Awesome! Should be a good one!
  9. I'm pumped for tonight's game. Hawks in 5.
  10. I came across this stat regarding Greene: You have to factor in competition there. But as a former FS who has shown ability to intercept and defend passes, he's the perfect LB to have in the pass-happy NFL. Reading more on him really tempered the concerns I had doubling down on LB. Not that it means much, but pre-draft I thought he was the Bears possible 2nd round pick, to boot. Yep, both LBs are good in coverage and have a history of training for that. In Greene he's a former safety and in Bostic, his father was a CB for the Lions and in his interview on the The Score mentioned how he learned some tricks from his dad. Both these guys seemingly can play the pass/run very well. I did cringe when hearing Arthur Brown was most comparable to Navarro Bowmen.
  11. Excellent Howie Long interview yesterday on The Score
  12. That's great =D> =D>
  13. I dunno, there's always the toothless tough guy act in hockey
  14. Please post less. please go back in time and create a new timeline where you never find out about nsbb Try harder next time.
  15. What? No he's not; John Amaechi was the first to come out in 2007. It's a big deal whether he plays another second in the NBA or not. Collins Comes Out Jason Collins became the first player in a major American sport to announce that he is gay. This is the ESPN headline. So then you're saying he's not the first NBA player to come out?
  16. If so, then Collins wouldn't be the first. Others have come out post-career as gay. Who here has said he was the first pro athlete to come out? Isn't that why he's on the front page of every media outlets website? If he never plays again then this is a non story No and no. It's because he's the first technically active player in the four major US sports to come out. And you're trying really, really hard to dismiss this. I misread your exchange with Wilson. My point is him being active is a technicality. He's being passed off as the FIRST NBA player to come out. He's on the street jobless right now, yet the press is hyping this up to be more then it really is. I don't get the hype as its been done before without the technicality. Yes he's not technically retired, but he also isn't representing a NBA team. The writing is on the wall. Hes 34, 7 foot and only worth 6 fouls. When a GM decides to stick his neck out and sign him, then as I said before that is worthy news of the hype machine. Otherwise it's going to look mighty strange when after all this he decides to retire willfully or forcefully.
  17. Good list. That top 5 is as close to being written in stone as it possibly could be this early. I probably would put Boyd in the same place. I think I like ASJ as a top 15 player. Tuitt will go top 5. He's a freak. Sadly Phil Emerys list is nothing like yours
  18. How do you figure? Your past as a pro athlete isn't erased when you retire. If so, then Collins wouldn't be the first. Others have come out post-career as gay. Who here has said he was the first pro athlete to come out? Isn't that why he's on the front page of every media outlets website? If he never plays again then this is a non story
  19. Maybe celebrate isn't quite the word, but yes applaud him. But what he's doing now isn't a positive thing unless he plays again? Nevermind he's a pro athlete and a black man, the type of public figure that rarely comes out as gay, no, that can't serve as any kind of positive message or influence or anything unless he's playing next year. It's a slight misrepresentation to label him as the first athlete to ever come out as gay if he never plays another minute of basketball again. Is it not?
  20. why not? Because he likely won't play another NBA game in his career and wouldn't really be the first openly gay athlete in history to play in a major sport? That's unless we're counting the past 8 or so years as him playing which wouldn't be accurate. I'll take back that statement if he goes on to play in the NBA. So if he does happen to play next season you feel it will be okay to celebrate him? Maybe celebrate isn't quite the word, but yes applaud him.

  22. So you don't mind that he is gay you just don't want him to let other people know he is gay? I dont care that he's gay or that he's come out. I compare his coming out however to the other myriad of retired players coming out. This man will not be in the NBA next season. I also don't think he should be celebrated either.
  23. What do you mean bothering anybody? Like, as long as he's not writing a book about his life (something millions of others have done)? Or as long as he's not hitting on straight guys on the street? Or as long as he's not making little old ladies fret while heading to church? Bothering is an odd choice of word there. Perhaps I should have worded it in a more PC way. As long as he's an honest law abiding citizen. That is what I was getting at. It's got nothing to do with PC, bother is an odd choice. And so is "honest", not to mention "law abiding". You know there are laws against things like gay people having sex, if he breaks those laws do you now care? If he lies about something all of a sudden his sexual orientation matters? If he's a giant [expletive] about his beliefs and way of life, then I have a problem with the way he's conducting his business. That goes for gays, heteros, religious and agnostic people. There is quite a list of prominent individuals who conduct their business in that way. Nobody enjoys Al Sharpton or Jessie Jackson getting TV attention and being preachy with people. That would be the perfect example of what I'm getting at.

  25. Valid point and I appreciate your engagement in a mature discussion. I do feel that ESPN and other news outlets are a hype machine and unfortunately this is going to be the next big thing. I feel like some of the reality of the situation, homosexuals coming out in sports is going to be lost on Mr. Collins. He will be out of a job next season and soon, retired. It will be shocking if a GM is willing to add him to their team and if that does happen, will be a true story. Ironically enough (probably not irony) ESPN has kind of ignored the story since it was their competitor that broke it, and ESPN is all about hyping ESPN branded stories, not the actual news. Not knowing anything about this player or his ability I do think it would be shocking to some extent if somebody signs him. That is all the more reason not to question his motives and timing. He's got nothing to lose and I would bet make more money with publicity, appearances and a book deal then signing a minimum deal if he's even offered one. I personally don't care what his sexual orientation is as long as he's not bothering anybody. It does suck that we'll for the time being not see what the full impact of his announcement would be in the world of the 4 major sports.
