It was his first draft pick, and it sucked, no doubt. But it looks like he might've hit a home run with the Kyle Long pick, another one that was....debated. Plus there's been some good non-first round picks as well. If we're holding Emery accountable for a bad pick, he's got to get credit for the good ones as well. The Long pick is different. Long was regarded as the next best pick at the Guard position. While he was drafted too early, he wasn't asked to make a position switch or to change his body type to be successful. However, if you're a fan of the BPA approach, Emery failed here too because Sharrif Floyd would a clear cut top 10 pick that fell and Dline was still a need. Also it's safe to say that the 2012 draft as a whole was pretty bad. Alshon is the only saving grace and if he somehow doesn't turn out to be an above average player, then the draft class would be an utter disaster. Isaiah Frey has a chance to be a good starting CB. Based on what? He had a great training camp since being waived and brought back on the practice squad and hasn't really stood out as a nickel although I'm not sure if that is a good or bad thing. He had a few really bad missed tackles last night.
