  1. Illinois should be in the top-25. Surprised they're not. Maryland probably should be as well.
  2. [quote name="illiniguy" Yeah' date=' they are still going to be very, very good. Guard play has some questions, but I still think they will be a legit final four contender.[/quote] Agreed, UNC will be a top-10 team. I personally favor Duke for the ACC title, but it's close. Ed Davis is going to be really, really good.
  3. I'm bearish on Penn State as well. I think they're a bottom-3 Big Ten team. I really like DeChellis and Battle, but I'm dubious Penn State's program is to the point it can lose players the caliber of Cornley and Pringle and not face a precipitous decline.
  4. Same year, same story: A year after taking a six-win team to Wake Forest, why is Indiana playing Maryland? Maryland is, at least, a borderline top-25 team. Indiana's last game will likely come in the conference tournament. IU could potentially handle one of the weaker ACC teams at home. (This is somewhat rhetorical, I understand the extraneous factors play a role.)
  5. Yay former Hoosiers!
  6. Indiana football. 28-3 lead. No turnovers for Indiana; three for Northwestern. One kick return for a TD for IU; none for Northwestern. Final score: Northwestern 29, Indiana 28. How? Why? How?
  7. But Tijan Jobe will be gone by then. According to this, that might be exactly what IU needs. :D This is from Crean on the indystar blog talking about an injury to Rivers: Sounds like a service to the IU basketball team.
  8. yeah missed that one... looks like the line is about even. i will probably pick iowa because they apparently cannot lose. Indiana at Northwestern isn't a game of note (relative to this board)?
  9. LSU isn't very good; not terribly impressed by them at all. I think Iowa would handle them.
  10. Darren Sharper and Fred Taylor? Neither were even in college in 1991.
  11. Carney is one. Favre was in the league but third string w/ the Falcons, so he wasn't in. Nope. Isn't Feagles like 43? Matt Turk is also over 40 I believe. Those are the only ones I can think of. I'm pretty sure Feagles was in it. Colts just signed Matt Stover. He's been around that long; though don't remember if he's in the game.
  12. Please stop talking. It'll all even out, though, with the likely South Africa/Mexico/New Zealand/Bosnia group. Post World Cup: Mexico once again made it to the knockout stage, they're just a better international side than the US.
  13. Please stop talking.
  14. I'm not taking shots at you dew, but I would concentrate on beating Memphis, Vandy and Kentucky, cause I seriously doubt Crompton will look good against Bama. I mean if Mallet and Snead looked horrible against Bama, I think Crompton might actually get killed in two weeks. And I agree with you, Crompton needed this game badly (and if this season doesn't get Richt canned, I don't know what will) and I happy for him, and the fact that his father didn't get thrown out of a game, for once. Good game for you guys, as I was quite surprise that Georgia looked HORRIBLE. Yeah, that bum should be on his way out. How dare he win 8-13-11-10-10-9-11-10 games so far in his eight seasons as coach. That 85-25 overall mark, including 48-20 in the SEC and 6-2 in bowls, warrants a pink slip.
  15. IU is on espn360. Which isn't available with my internet provider. Isn't the purpose of the Big Ten Network to allow us to watch all the games? I'm intrigued by IU-UVA too. And it's not like I can go to a bar and watch it. That's really stupid that the Indiana game isn't on TV in freaking Bloomington. Being banished to only espn360 is about as bad as it gets. Agreed. I've called around and some of the bars may try to work it out and hook the webcast up to a TV (not sure if that's technically kosher . . .). So hopefully there's that.

  17. How much better was Ibanez this year than normal, though? Sure, he had a great start playing in a bandbox in the NL, but he settled into the norm. He finished with a 130 OPS+, quite comparable to his 125-121-124 the previous three seasons. Over the course of the season, he was mostly as expected (unless one was expecting him to regress due to age).
  18. Kansas City, September 20: Oakland 13, Kansas City 10. yeah and didn't they outgain Oak 2.5-1 that game? 409-166. Will Kansas City have more wins/a better season than Oakland? I'd think so. The Raiders look atrocious, the Chiefs just bad. However, at this point, Oakland has a better point differential, a better record and a road win over the Chiefs (KC has played better competition so far). It's relatively hard to justify ranking the Chiefs over the Raiders at this point, in my mind.
  19. Kansas City, September 20: Oakland 13, Kansas City 10.
  20. I'm still nervous about this one. Division game, Fisher always comes up with good game plans against the Colts, and I still don't buy Tennessee as a "true" 0-4 team. We'll see.
  21. Wow, this is nonsensical/irrational/dumb, even grading on the Cub curve.
  22. I'm at my parent's house at the moment and don't have access to the vast majority of my books, but I seem to recall a study that implied consistency was actually a bad thing... that being "streaky" would result in more runs than a team that scored a preset number of runs per game. I want to say it was in "The Book" by Tom Tango, but I could be way off base. Really? That's very interesting. It's contrary to preconceived notions -- mine, and I would guess most.
  23. They've been getting love all over the place. Hope that doesn't jinx them.
  24. I'm a bit surprised IU didn't receive any votes in either poll. I didn't expect them to be ranked, but with their only loss being a close road loss against a ranked team I thought they'd at least get noticed. You're surprised that a team that everyone thought would be awful isn't ranked because they barely beat EMU, WMU, and beat Akron? Hey Akron is #1 in the nation.......In Men's soccer that is. Led by former -- and future? -- Hoosier Caleb Porter . I shouldn't name-drop and say I know him.
  25. And Cox will be gone after next season Tony could be on the move Scioscia isn't going anywhere soon Gardenhire might be on the edge if things don't get better the fact that Guillen is still a manager is hilarious The last two aren't going anywhere Really? I mean, I don't necessarily want to disagree, I'm just curious as to why you think this. He's won 94-90-92-83-96-79-88-82(so far) games and the Twins are only two games out of first place currently. All this in Minnesota, doesn't seem like a reason to be on the edge.
