  1. Time for me to start this year's NBA Draft thread already, eh? Oh, well, I guess it is.
  2. B.J. Mullens to enter NBA draft. http://sports.espn.go.com/ncb/news/story?id=4018578 Someone on here suggested earlier that "everyone" will be back in the Big Ten. I always laugh at people looking only at class/eligibility. He won't be the only player to leave early.
  3. That was rude to not let Andy have this one. Good point, I'm sorry. God, that was fun. Jarrett and Green were on the team that went 24-7 two years ago and went to the WNIT, and I know how sweet that must've been for them. I'm still digesting that. And dew, Tennessee had never missed the Sweet 16. :D Bloomington's own Kiley Jarrett, I might add. Good for her.
  4. And the 12 is Arizona. No Cinderella's here.
  5. Great game Sun Devils. Sheesh. I still think USC has a shot, but it's very possible Arizona is the lone Pac 10 team in the Sweet 16.
  6. Yesterday went according to plan. That usually spells upset doom the next day. Not sure who or when, but an upset is coming today. I picked Arizona State and Wisconsin. USC could give Michigan State problems, and Pitt might want to play a little better than they did against ETSU (sure they will -- similar to Memphis). Doubt Siena has much of a chance, and not really sure about Dayton.
  7. I picked Duke, but after the first two rounds Villanova certainly looks like the smart money. I went 8-0, which redeems my average first round performance and shot me way up the leaderboard.
  8. My bad, my manual counting method failed me, too many conferences abbreviating with a 10. Well, four still isn't terribly impressive. I don't think anyone believes the Big 10 is a fluid offensive juggernaut.
  9. Well if that isn't a bunch of play-the-game-the-right-way cliche BS. And just like in baseball, I'll take the raw talent over the stoic, calm-eyed players and coaches. Man I hate the Big 10 Yeah, let's not pretend that because B10 teams play at such a slow pace that they aren't bad offensively. The Big 10 has just 3 teams in the Top 50 in Adjusted Offensive Efficiency, and none of them are in the top 25. To compare, the ACC has 7 (3 Top 25), the Big East has 9 (7! Top 25), the Big 12 has 7 (5 Top 25), the Pac 10 has 6 (4 Top 25), and the SEC has 3 (2 Top 25). Where are you getting that? Pomeroy has Wisconsin No. 26, Michigan State No. 32, Ohio State No. 34, and Michigan No. 50 in adjusted offensive efficiency. That's four. Also, just outside the top-50, Penn State is No. 52, Northwestern is No. 54 and Purdue is No. 61. http://kenpom.com/stats.php?y=2009&s=8
  10. Well if that isn't a bunch of play-the-game-the-right-way cliche BS. And just like in baseball, I'll take the raw talent over the stoic, calm-eyed players and coaches. Man I hate the Big 10 Raw talent worked well for Clemson and Florida State against the Big 10. Intangibles and coaching matter immensely more in basketball than baseball.
  11. A lot. Some of us picked Cleveland State though. Patting myself on the back is fun.
  12. Watching ACC basketball is like watching fat people have sex. 59-61 OT 59-62 55-72 Watching Big East basketball is like watching fat people have sex. 59-54 58-57 60-68 Watching Pac 10 basketball is like watching fat people have sex. 65-64 66-57 Geez.
  13. Ohio State needed to win and it would have been 5-2. Oh well. Still, the ACC is sitting at (I believe) 3-4. The Big Ten is also 2-0 against ACC teams (both higher/better seeds). The Big 12 and Pac 10 have been most impressive. (Yes, I realize the Big East is 6-1, but with three top seeds and seven higher seeds that's not terribly surprising.)
  14. I picked Cleveland State, so I'm loving this so far.
  15. ETSU is one of the best 16-seeds ever. http://kenpom.com/team.php?y=2009&team=East%20Tennessee%20St.
  16. Sorry, I forgot we might be up today. I think it has to be a DT with this pick (especially with the way this draft has gone). I also think dew is correct and that pretty much means Sen'Derrick Marks at this point. He may not be exactly ideal, but he's a good player who would instantly help. I'd go Marks.
  17. Indiana beat Cornell. Just sayin'.
  18. Some of us picked North Dakota State and would love to correctly pick a No. 14 again. Sorry snood.
  19. That's pretty ignorant, unless your definition of stunk is "anything outside of perfection". I think his definition of stunk is "anything the Big Ten does." I mean, I'm fully in agreement that Illinois stunk. Sure, they were playing without their senior starting PG and still made a game of it when they woke up, but for 37 minutes, they stunk. Minnesota? Stunk (and probably the most questionable BT selection). If Michigan stunk, then I guess they stunk less than Clemson. The Purdue game was the opposite of the Illinois game. They owned about 37 minutes of the game, and then let it get interesting at the end. Illinois was bad. I really dislike when I root for a team that I generally don't, and then they stink. So I'm not happy with your Illini. Minnesota didn't play well, but they weren't supposed to win. The Michigan-Clemson game may have been sloppy, but the Wolverines controlled the game and beat a higher-seeded, more talented team. Purdue controlled most the entire game. Two teams were supposed to win, and two teams won. Overall, the day was less than even because a 5-seed losing outweighs a 10-seed winning. That's not sufficient for stinking in my book though. I would also say tonight offers a good chance at redemption in a 5-12 game. Is the Big Ten visually pleasing? Not exactly. Is it effective? Generally.
  20. The Big Ten still stinks because it was supposed to go 2-2 and went 2-2? Yes. It was supposed to stink and it has stunk. That's pretty ignorant, unless your definition of stunk is "anything outside of perfection". I think his definition of stunk is "anything the Big Ten does."
  21. The Big Ten still stinks because it was supposed to go 2-2 and went 2-2?
  22. It's so much better than past years. This game encapsulates why I didn't trust either Michigan or Clemson enough to beat Oklahoma. Wow, these teams look terrible. if clemson wins, they'll give OU a run Oh, I agree. Clemson has all the tools to give OU fits. I just don't trust Clemson enough to pick them to win twice (actually, I didn't trust enough to pick them once).

  24. Very disappointed Butler lost. I thought LSU was a great matchup for them. When CBS showed "LSU" on selection Sunday, I started begging for "Butler, Butler." Oh well. I am seriously done picking BYU. Second straight time they failed to show against A&M.
