  1. on pace means on pace Man this board's been uptight lately.
  2. I think he's just being realistic and expecting a fall back to earth in Theriot's power numbers eventually. He's technically on pace for like 18, but I think we all know he's likely to come up short of that number.
  3. I think it's been noted many times that his career minor league numbers are dragged down significantly by his time spent as a switch hitter. In his last two minor league seasons (after giving up the switch hitting experiment) he had an OPS around .750 each year, as he did last year. Obviously his jump in OPS this year is because of the power (can anyone believe he's 2nd on our team in HRs, and it's June?) but it looks like he's rounding out to be a solid .750 OPS type of guy at SS, with solid speed and okay defense. Not an all-star, but a very solid inexpensive piece to the puzzle. He's far from a concern right now, which is a lot more than we can say for most of the team.
  4. He really is a hit or miss pitcher, from start to start. I've never seen anyone go 1 great start, then not be able to get out of the first inning in his next start (simply due to control issues). I feel bad, but as you said, it's not our problem anymore.
  5. Why would anyone want Rich to fail? Just kind of found it funny that after he goes and dominates in his last outing, he can't escape the first today. I realize we get a "better" prospect if he does well...but at this point with us playing the way we are, I'm looking for anything remotely entertaining. I don't find anything entertaining about it. Rich didn't do anything for us to want to see him fail. If anything Lou and Larry failed Rich with the quick hook they had on him. Obviously it's not just Lou and Larry. The guy struggled with it in the minors at times (his control) and now it's on a totally different level in an entirely different organization. Some people need to loosen up a bit. I'm not "rooting" for him to fail. I don't WANT to see him fail, but I'm not gonna go cry about it when he does. He's not a Cub anymore.

  7. Just a little something to brighten your days... Rich Hill pulled after 2 outs in the first inning, having already given up 3, left with the bases loaded.
  8. I realize that, but people are stating it as if it's fact. I guess I'm just trying to stay somewhat positive haha
  9. Can we at least give the at-bat a chance to play out? Calm down people.
  10. Hit it in the left-center field gap, Gonzalez made a nice running catch going back, ran into the wall and fell over, have to flip it to the CF. Both runners tagged and scored without a play.
  11. I would like to see Tate, if for no other reason than he could be the best value left, signability issues aside. If we take a Poythress type, I'm fine with that too. I think he could be a real nice hitter, but he also scared me because he really can't do much besides hit.
  12. Do you really want a guy named Dennys going up their with the bases loaded? *bowdown*
  13. I understand he's not the same hitter he once was...but he's not totally done. .313/.403/.552 with 4 HR and 9 RBI in May. Obviously the power numbers aren't where we would like them for a "cleanup" hitter, but he's still capable of being very productive. If he can get in that ballpark again this month, he'll do a lot more to convince me he's still a viable middle of the order option.
  14. The best offer I've gotten for Ibanez is for Mike Cameron straight up. I'm planning on trading him, but I'm not that desperate to move him.
  15. he'd really be sliding into that spot rather than Andy LaRoche, or Ben Francisco, Chris Duncan, Emmanuel Burris, Jarrod Saltalamacchia. But really, he'd be holding a spot until Aramis gets back to take 3b/Util, at which point it'd be between Kemp/Bradley. Here's the rest of my lineup just to give you an idea of where I stand C Mauer 1b Pujols 2b Kennedy SS Hardy 3b Figgins OF Ibanez OF Dye OF Scott UT Bradley UT Francisco BE Saltalamacchia BE Burriss BE An LaRoche
  16. I trade Pujols for Miguel Cabrera and Matt Kemp I'm really torn on this one...I don't really want to get rid of Pujols, but it's a pretty solid offer. I need help in SB, so Kemp would help there, and Miggy is a very solid hitter to replace Pujols. Also, what do you guys think the best plan with Ibanez is...trade him while his value is high? Ride him while he's hot and then move him? Or just stick with him? I personally am kinda leaning towards seeing what I can get for him before he slows down...but I don't want to trade just to trade, either.
  17. But I thought vitters had no power? must be a fluke.
  18. Yeah I mean it's been, what, 9-10 months now since we had an All-Star we drafted/developed?
  19. Never did want him traded for Peavy, or anyone. He's going to be special.
  20. I didnt see any blocks in his stat line. disappointing.
  21. Dang. He was just starting to play well for the bulls
  22. It's just that with Bako, it's pretty much a black hole in the lineup the few times he plays this season, and a waste of a bench bat because he wouldn't really offer anything in the way of production there. At least Koyie's put up respectable #s in AAA the past couple of years where as Bako hasn't put up respectable #s at any level in over a decade. Might not be a huge difference either way, but Koyie has earned his shot with the spring he's had.
  23. I think (HOPE) that Koyie's had a good enough spring to make the team. Hopefully this doesn't give Bako the edge :(
