  1. Cedric Benson did both, played for the Dodgers and played football for Texas. I don't think it's a problem.
  2. That entire season (minus a few games against FLA in the playoffs) was a blast. That whole team looked like they actually WANTED to be out there, unlike the team we saw at times last year. We need some of that emotion back on the field...and a little better physical talent than that club had. (Come on, Karros? K-Gonz?)
  3. K-Gonz has really fallen down the food chain, so to speak. He was at least a serviceable #7-8 hitter and good defender at SS, now he's a backup 3b/SS on teams like TB and Philly. He did have some big time hits, i remember those VERY well.
  4. Jose Reyes is my pick as well. Second year in a row I'm tabbing him as a 'breakout' player. He's still very young, great defensively, and I just get a feeling about him, not sure why. Dylan Johnston, Mark Reed. Keep an eye on these two LH hitters who play 'need' positions (SS and C, respectively)
  5. I could think of worse things...like being stuck with Hundley...again. Walker will start if he's here, because he's the best hitter and we really don't have a lot at 2b (Hairston, Neifi) behind Walker.
  6. Dislocating a shoulder can be pretty bad... I just did it in early December, had to go to the ER to get it back in place  I did it once before that, but it popped back in on its own, and didn't hurt at all. They said they think I tore my labrum and that may be why it dislocated so easy. Actually I'm still supposed to be in a sling, and not doing any activity with it...uhhh can i tell my doc i started doing PE before i went back for my 2nd appointment when he again told me no physical activity and to keep it in the sling. lol
  7. A few interesting players on that list. Fox probably more as an extra body, but he's a talented player, IMO. McGehee's value was much better as a C, but he moved back to 3b... Sing would be a nice bat off the bench and to maybe get some ABs for Jones against LHs...and he would give us a backup 1b. I still like Greenberg as a backup, at least moreso than Grissom.
  8. If he can keep gettin jobs, why not? What does he have to lose? Loooong career for that man, talk about making the most out of an opportunity. 8)
  9. Well I don't mind the Jones signing, personally. If he can hit .270 (he's a career .279 hitter) with 20-25 HRs and play a good RF, it's about the best we can do. There aren't a lot of BIG bats out there for the OF, so we had to take the best available. I'm fine with this deal. Now we just need to add a solid starter. Prior Zambrano Maddux Williams Veteran Starter (FA/Trade) Wood replaces Williams, and Williams gives us another solid option for an extra starter, along with Rusch.
  10. If we can't acquire a big bat in RF, Walker may have to be our lone LH power source...and that's a guy who has never hit 20 HRs in his career. He may end up hitting 5th simply because he's the only guy who can drive in runs other than Lee/Ramirez. Hopefully we can get a big bat in RF and keep Walker at 2b, so we can get some offense this year, because our starters don't look terribly amazing, but at least they're solid.
  11. Prior and Z will be here for a few more seasons, at least. They'll likely be locked up if/when they are eligible for FA. Prior Zambrano Williams FA/Rook FA/Rook Potential In-house prospects: Marshall, Marmol, Ryu, Guzman, Hill So basically, keep the 3 young guys we already have here, and add a marginal FA...and let one of the younger guys. Or, if they appear ready, let them take two spots. Honestly, I'd trade Hill/Welly for Huff right now if needed
  12. Just go after Pierre and Furcal (no castillo) and trade for Adam Dunn =P~ Furcal, SS Pierre, CF Lee, 1b Dunn, RF Ramirez, 3b Barrett, C Murton, LF Cedeno, 2b Or if walker returns as 2b (I doubt it) put him 6th, bump Barrett and Murton down a spot each. I could really live with this lineup...
  13. Would it be too redundant to have essentially 3 leadoff men in Pierre, Furcal, and Castillo? That would leave a lot to be desire power wise, also factor in that Murton probably won't hit many more than 20, and we're really handcuffed, power wise...although the speed and OBP would be insane at the top. I'd consider hitting them 1-2-3 with Lee and ARam 4th and 5th...run-scoring-maching...
  14. Well after Soto put up a Reyes-like AVG and Reyes-like power...maybe they felt Reyes would be a better fit for defense in a pinch.
  15. Well I think JH protected a nice group of players, probably the same guys I would have. A few higher upside players who could be something down the road. Jose Reyes would likely have stuck with someone who could afford a light hitting defensive whiz at catcher. Plus he's only 21 or so, so he still has time to develop offensively into something semi-useful. If not, he's still better than Bako  One difference...I may have added Sing and dropped Ryu from the roster. I have never really liked him that much as a prospect.
  16. If it's true that Hendry wouldn't give up Hill for Dunn straight up, he doesn't deserve to be a GM of a big market team. I think Rich Hill has been overrated quite a bite. If we can get a solid leadoff hitter who can steal 50 bases...I'm all for it.
  17. Rich Hill and Sergio Mitre...and a PTBNL for Juan Pierre Done...where do I sign? Murton in LF, Pierre in CF...who in RF? Wilkerson would look nice... Pierre Furcal Lee Ramirez Wilkerson Barrett Murton Cedeno Me likey.
  18. He's 23, so he's still fairly young. He's got big league experience. He has good stuff, and he had his moments, when in relief, in which he was unhittable. Other times he was off...his consistency is holding him back. Okay so maybe not "A lot" higher, but possibly around 12-13...outside shot at the top 10 just on upside.
  19. Aardsma could go a lot higher.
  20. Well Macias sucks on that game, and Perez doesn't draw walks, so its pretty realistic...wait Patterson's hitting .330? Nevermind, scrap that. What's the Cubs record? 150-12? LOL Pfftt...no....152-10 lol
  21. Well Macias sucks on that game, and Perez doesn't draw walks, so its pretty realistic...wait Patterson's hitting .330? Nevermind, scrap that.
  22. Doesn't matter. A walk doesn't do us any good in that situation, it would only have brought up who, Corey? He fouled off some pitches, battled a good major league starter for 8 pitches and made him pay for a mistake. I'd take an AB like that everytime up even if he is fouling off would-be balls.
  23. Haven't seen it this year, and don't recall it much if at all last year either. I'm pretty sure he's been mainly LF...has played RF and now CF in AAA.
  24. With all the hoopla, it seems no one picked up on an interesting tidbit from the Iowa game...Murton played some CF. This might be the Cubs way of making him a more valuable 4th OF next year, or have better offensive value as a OBP guy in CF rather than LF/RF.
  25. http://baseballhalloffame.org/exhibits/online_exhibits/dressed_to_the_nines/images/nl_1978_chicago.gif Definately the baby blue w/ pinstripes...totally studly. I can just see Prior on the mound dominating with those babies on...
