  1. If he keeps up his post all-star break numbers, he has a chance. .333/.356/.690/1.046. 4 HR, 10 RBI, 2 BB/11 K after the break in 42 AB. However, the 11 K and 2 BB in 40+ AB make me think it could be hard for him to EVER be much of a prospect again. He's 23 and in A ball...for the 2nd time. I don't know how much time he has left.
  2. Haha fair enough. This thread did drag on for way too long and we still don't know what happened with Theriot/the roster (except that Petrick is supposedly coming up).
  3. You mean I broke the story on here? Do I get a prize or something???
  4. For what it's worth Raisin, a guy on another board supposedly heard it too. I think this one's more on the score than it is on you...actually he said his friend called him to say he heard it. There was another guy that said he also heard it, and both of them have a decent amount of posts, so its not just some trolls. Wow - I always thought of myself as a rookie, or a fan of the message boards. Now I know I should refer to myself as a troll! I better get my number of posts up!!! (Just kidding!) :) Haha you know what I meant...although now that I'm thinking about it, I'm not sure what I meant...we've had very good posters who don't post all that often and trolls that post every chance they get...so post counts really don't mean much haha. I guess I just meant that they didn't just randomly come over to the site and post it haha.
  5. In 42 total innings this year (A/AA) he's got 43 K and only 10 BB. 3 HR in 30.1 IP at AA (0 in 11.2 IP at A) so he's doing fairly well. .202 BAA at AA.
  6. Haha...he's 23 man...but the poster on ITI said it's "per two sources in the farm system" so take it for what it's worth. I will go with it for now, because this is a fairly reliable poster over there. You keep your facts away from my joke, you hear? If true, it shows what the Cubs think of Pignatiello. It won't happen again, I'm sorry...wait you're a mizzou fan right? yea nevermind i dont care if i ruined your joke haha.

  8. 12th pitcher. Per inside the ivy message board...(and poster "insidetheivy") No word on who went down/traded.

  10. .365/.447/.533 19/19 K/BB in 137 AB. His defense scares me almost as much as Izzy Cedeno showed really good range last year, but his issues were throwing to first. From what I saw in ST this year, he looked alot better with that throw to first. He's got a really good, strong arm. It just gets a little wild once in a while. He will get to balls that Izturis and Theriot won't though.
  11. .365/.447/.533 19/19 K/BB in 137 AB. He's ready for another shot at starting SS in the bigs. If his numbers drop by .100 all the way around from his AAA numbers, he's still putting up a good season for a young SS. He's capable of playing as good on defense as Izturis/Theriot, if not better. He's tearing apart AAA, bring him up.
  12. No, I don't think it has...that is interesting.... Good call...but that would require ANOTHER man going down... :? Jones gone, Theriot demoted 12th pitcher up, Cedeno recalled?? That would make sense, right? If we can manage to move Jones, it gets a lot easier, plus we can afford to send Theriot down if we call up another player capable of handling SS.
  13. I think that might hurt ratings....a lot. sex sells man, sex sells. Not fat man sex. Tell that to Ron Jeremy...
  14. Is there another Sean Marshall in our system that is really, really good that I'm not aware of? Hill for Wood would be more like it...and if that's the case, bye Rich. Marshall wouldn't come close to getting Brandon Wood. I'm not sure Hill would either.
  15. Hopefully Jacque is gone. We have absolutely zero need for him with Pagan, Pie, and Floyd ahead of him on the depth chart...and even Murton waiting for another chance.
  16. Hopefully he keeps hitting with the promotion...I see him as a Mark Kotsay type, nothing special, but a solid guy capable of contributing on pretty much any team, especially when he's making league minimum.
  17. Marshall is pitching very well and isn't even 25 yet. He's got almost 30 starts under his belt at the big league level... I'd like Griffey, but I'm not sure about giving up Marshall in the division.
  18. Rapada will be gone. (AAA) Pagan/Jones will be gone. (AAA-Pagan/DFA or traded-Jones) With Theriot, Ward, and Fontenot all able to play OF (yes, Fontenot has played pretty much everywhere) we will be okay. Soriano, Pie, Floyd, Pagan/Jones, Ward, Theriot, DeRosa, Fontenot are all capable of OF duties. 2 catchers-Barrett, Hill 7 IF- Lee, DeRosa, Theriot, Ramirez, Fontenot, Izturis, Ward 4 OF- Soriano, Pie, Floyd, Pagan/Jones 5 SP- Zambrano, Hill, Lilly, Marquis, Marshall 7 RP- Dempster, Howry, Wuertz, Eyre, Ohman, Gallagher, Marmol We get to keep our 12th arm and a good mix of players for IF/OF backups.
  19. Lee, DeRosa, Cedeno, Ramirez Theriot, Fontenot Soriano, Pie, Jones Floyd, Pagan, Ward Izturis traded/DFA, Murton to AAA. Or get rid of Jones, play DeRosa in RF and keep Izturis around as well.
  20. The comparison to Hill is a little unfair. Hill had absolutely no success in '05 (10 games, 4 started), and it took until pretty much August for him to have any success in his 2nd season-'06. Now he's showing the talent that he has flashed for so long pretty much every time out. Cedeno came up in '05, did very well for a young player. He started off pretty decent in '06, but really struggled down the stretch, but kinda came around again towards the end of the year. This season he did not get regular ABs, but of his 3 hits (in 31 ABs, yikes) he had 2 HRs. He's still young, only 24, and has over a full season's worth of games under his belt. He's one of those energetic types of players in my opinion. Even if he hits .250/.300 he'll be as good as Izturis, only with more pop. Hopefully he gets another shot this year, I like him a lot at SS.
  21. If Cedeno keeps hitting in AAA is he going to get another chance at being the everyday SS and sticking in the 7/8 spot in the order?? He's got talent, and he's taking walks in AAA. Cedeno's AAA line: .329/.444/.500 with 3 HR, 16 BB/12 K His line in June: .440/.563/.720/1.283 with 2 HR, 6 BB/1 K in 25 AB. Theriot has been struggling since the move to SS. He's been hitting around .260 since the beginning of May. I like him a lot as a super sub or maybe even our every day 2b, but if he's going to struggle at the plate, it could be time for Ronny to get another shot.
  22. We must like Smith, we drafted him last year too, hopefully Wilken is seeing something more to him than other clubs are...
  23. Dempster is 9/10, and has pitched very well this year. Outside of his awful game against NY, he's got a mid 2's ERA. If we're basing every decision off of one game, we're in trouble. Guzman and Marmol for hard throwing RHs out of the pen, Marshall to the rotation, and Dempster as closer still. Zambrano Lilly Hill Marshall Marquis Guzman Howry Marmol Dempster Ohman Cotts Wuertz Eyre is going to the DL/DFA. He's not doing well at all this year. Plus with Guzman, Cotts, and Marmol in the pen, we have some guys capable of giving us a lot of innings if needed.
  24. If it was for Upton at SS, sign me up. However, seeing as he hasn't played SS since last year (and he was awful then) I don't think he's going back there anytime soon.
  25. For a guy that is just barely 20 years old playing in single A, I like that Wellington Castillo is holding his own and at least showing some pop. If he can play defense and hit with some pop, he'll make the show (just ask Blanco). Hopefully he starts hitting more like he did tonight.
