  1. They have plenty of capable perimeter players although none are close to Durant's ceiling. If Oden can come close to fulfilling his potential he's a much better fit for the Blazers. Between Roy, Outlaw, Fernandez, Bayless, Batum, Webster, et. al. they already have a glut of combo guard and swingmen types.
  2. USF beat Marquette :!:
  3. Somehow I don't think the Blazers envy OKC's position too much.
  4. He's also one of most efficient offensive players in NBA history. There's little to hate about his offensive game. He has range to 18 feet, gets to the line a lot (and is now an 80%+ shooter there), and he shoots an exceptionally high percentage. His TS% and eFG% numbers are off the charts. He also plays better in the playoffs. I have questions about him too and his defense is a significant flaw. But I have a lot more confidence in him being at least an average defender than I do about Noah or Thomas being average offensive players. Plus his offense is just that good where you live with subpar defense.
  5. I'm pleased with Thomas right now too but he is far from the point where he should be considered a stumbling block in a potential Amare deal.
  6. 52/10/11 for LeBron at MSG tonight. That's just sick.
  7. Damnit. Maybe we can steal a win in Pauley tonight and end this (relatively) crappy day on a high note.
  8. Jumping all over the CP3-less Hornets in the first quarter. Offense looks amazing so far.
  9. I'm a bit concerned that Te'o is going to technically be eligible for the draft after only 1 year with the Irish (he plans to leave the team for 2 years after his first year and then come back), but there's almost no way he'll jump to the NFL after a 2 year layoff so the team should have him for at least 2 years and hopefully more. He'd be recruitable again when he comes back, no? That's how UCLA got Ben Olson a few years ago. And how well that worked out for them!
  10. Kirkpatrick just announced for Bama.
  11. Nice get for UCLA. I was just reading that he may delay his commitment to see if his high school coach got a coaching position at Utah.
  12. Randle to LSU.
  13. Jarvis Jones to USC per Rivals. That takes the sting off Te'o and Burfict a bit.
  14. The New York Times has an eye-opening article about Bryce Brown and his handler Brian Butler. Guy sounds like a real piece of work but I guess that's the nature of recruiting. http://www.nytimes.com/2009/02/04/sports/ncaafootball/04recruit.html?pagewanted=1&hp
  15. Whoever is teaching Derrick Rose how to play man to man defense needs to be fired. I actually thought he was one of the better defensive guards in the draft (at least average) after Westbrook and Mayo but he's a freakin turnstile out there. He leans forward, get zero knee bend, and cannot move laterally quick enough from that position. I'm thinking they're trying to teach him team defensive principles first and foremost but at this point he can at least use his athleticism to keep guys out of the lane. Oh well--frustrating loss but the Rockets are a good team and the Bulls just had no answer for Yao or Scola.
  16. I don't know who's more infuriating: Tyrus or Vinny. Vinny should at least know better...
  17. http://www.realgm.com/src_wiretap_archives/56991/20090203/tnt_adds_h_o_r_s_e_game_to_all_star_weekend/ HORSE added to All Star weekend. That's pretty awesome.
  18. If last year was any indication 8-12 weeks means the rest of the regular season and the playoffs.
  19. I hope SC can land Te'o (and Telfort). We're probably going to lose Burfict for grades or to Arizona State.
  20. I don't really see what's so tragic about Harrison's play. You guys are acting like he took a gun out on the field and shot the guy. It's football. The dozen instances of twisting someone's arm or leg under the pile that didn't make it on camera were probably worse. I'll take James Harrison on the Bears any day.
  21. I'm just disappointed Fitz didn't get a chance at a jump ball in the endzone on that final drive.
  22. I think Michaels meant the booth was reviewing it and decided it was a fumble so they didn't call for the ref to look under the hood. I don't think the ref could've looked under the hood that fast. The production was sloppy though so I'm not positive.
  23. Did we all forget that you can't challenge in the last two minutes of each half? I"m surprised the booth didn't call for further review though. I thought it was a fumble on replay.
  24. Don't worry, they'll just play their way back into the top 10. They aren't going to win the lottery again, though. :( I think this team has more to gain by sneaking into the 8th seed and getting slaughtered by Cleveland, Boston, or Orlando than it does by getting a low lottery pick.
