  1. Vinny is so [expletive]. WHY IS ROSE NOT IN THE GAME?
  2. We're gonna gag this one away.
  3. 2.5 years into his career and I still have no idea what Tyrus Thomas' ceiling as a player is. He really makes some breathtaking plays. He plays like a dope on offense a lot but there's potential. His form on the jumper is actually pretty good. Also, the Suns have officially stopped caring about putting forth a high level of effort.
  4. Up 62-59 at the half...should be a bigger lead but Rose got abused by Nash in the last couple minutes of the first half. He has a tendency to lose focus defensively especially if his man has been quiet for a stretch. Teams playing pretty well overall though. Seems like they've cut down on the possessions that go nowhere some since they've started on this road trip.
  5. http://sports.espn.go.com/nba/news/story?id=3875523 Kobe accidentally crashed into Bynum's knee and he had to leave the game. It looked fairly bad on the replay I saw.
  6. Man, Marquette is just machine like right now. I know they haven't really gotten to the meat of their conf. schedule yet but they are efficient and balanced.
  7. Luke Harangody is the Shareef Abdur Raheem of the Big East. Inflated numbers and not a real difference maker. Blair is an animal, however.
  8. If we drafted Greg Monroe he'd already have the best skills of any big man on our roster by a huge amount (I know, not really saying much). I like his game. He's not going to wow anyone with his athleticism but he's well developed for his age and size. We could do worse than him. And just watching Jefferson abuse us last night had me longing for a big man with skills.
  9. Wasn't Paxson's fault Cheapsdorf wanted to save money and not go out and get Collins or Dan Tony. True, but the wasteland of talent that is the current roster is Paxson's fault.
  10. I'd be surprised if VDN weren't fired by the end of the regular season. Or rather, I'd be surprised if he weren't fired if you don't factor in that John Paxson was the one who hired him.
  11. Another sickening loss by this group of chokers. Ugh. Also, why is Derrick Rose allowed to be hacked in the lane with impunity? Does anyone who gets into the lane with such ease get this bad of treatment from the refs? It's disgusting.
  12. You'd argue the Knicks are worse than the Wizards? If my life depended on the outcome of a Knicks vs. Bulls game I'd probably take the Knicks :(
  13. I hate to be that guy but... Derrick Rose never gets calls. How does he average only ~3 free throw attempts a game?
  14. I'm sort of curious how it took looking into sealed grand jury testimony to find out that The Clear was not illegal at the time Bonds and other BALCO athletes were accused of taking it. I'm no legal expert but wouldn't that just be common knowledge to anyone willing to look at the law in question?
  15. Looks like Yahoo is opening another multipiece investigative series based on BALCO testimony. Evidently they have testimony from a drug-testing expert and the former lead investigator of BALCO saying that The Clear (THG) was not illegal and not technically classified as a steroid until early 2005. They expect Bonds to use that defense in his perjury case. http://sports.yahoo.com/mlb/news;_ylt=AtKAhf3dVRLcxW0RyZ53YHsRvLYF?slug=li-clear011409&prov=yhoo&type=lgns Does anyone still care?
  16. I missed that last night. Daaaamn. And yeah, Tyrus has looked pretty good the last couple weeks. It's a wonder what knowing your role and exploiting your skill set can do for a young player. Kirk was +24 last night. Gordon did nothing offensively and Rose was ice cold most of the game and they still pulled out a W over one of the best teams in the league. Really shows how important Kirk CAN be to the team when he plays efficient ball.
  17. You know that Scott Wolif has a huge axe to grind with the program. He's a Veterans Committee stirrer in the Mariotti vein. that is a redflash-type comment, only for usc. Eh, there was approximately a 0% chance you were going to disagree anything Scott Wolf wrote if it had a negative slant. I doubt you've ever read him (and there's nothing wrong with that, it's not like I read Penn State's beat writer) but I'm not exaggerating when I say he really is a Mariotti-type.
  18. Remember Scott Wolf's scoops that said Lendwhale received a positive drug test the night before the draft (didn't exist) or that C.J. Spiller verbally committed to USC (went to Clemson). The guy is a hack who spews meaningless pablum for a dead paper. He's probably annoyed that he's outranked by luminaries such as Bill Plaschke and TJ Simers.
  19. You know that Scott Wolif has a huge axe to grind with the program. He's a Veterans Committee stirrer in the Mariotti vein. Well, half the posters at WeareSC.com seemed to think Carroll was way out of line. Carroll's reaction is THE story in the local sports media. I keep hearing Wolf has some sort of grind to pick but he's probably too busy oggling Pac-10 cheerleaders to do any actual work. The local sports media? You mean Wolf, Vic, and Hartman. Big whoop. I'm a little surprised at the candor Carroll's shown but i don't think it's anything egregious.
  20. You know that Scott Wolif has a huge axe to grind with the program. He's a [expletive] stirrer in the Mariotti vein.
  21. Having Kirk back gives us another legit ball handler (instead of Gordon over dribbling and jacking up some horrid shot), a good perimeter defender, and relegates Hughes to lots of DNPs (or a trade, hopefully). That should at least cut down on the number of stupid/worthless possessions this team has. 33 assists on 40 made field goals is nice.
  22. I think Freeman has a chance to be pretty good. He needs a lot of seasoning but he looks the part of an NFL QB more than a lot of those pass wacky spread guys. He has a lot of ability and he was really hampered by being in a crappy, crappy K-State program.
  23. Matt Leinart was a top-10 pick when he came out. Sure, it's not No. 1, but it's not like he dropped into the second round or anything like that. He still got paid big time and it wasn't a stupid move to come back to USC for a year. Leinart was projected as top 2 or 3 pick after their National Title Win against Oklahoma. He choose to come back when he had nothing to prove in college football, and he dropped to 10th to Arizona where he's still riding the pine behind Warner. Leinart was projected as a top 2 or 3 pick the year he came out, too. In other news, that sound you just heard was Mitch Mustain cheering emphatically. Aaron Corp will get a very real shot at starting next year. I'd say Mustain is the clubhouse leader for now but he's more like a 60/40 favorite at this point, IMO.
  24. Yeah, I'm not sure how this will work out for him. I think he does have a lot to gain skills wise by coming back another year but the dearth of quarterbacks in this class, especially now that Bradford is coming back, is probably enticing. I could see anything from the top 15 to sliding until the late 2nd round for him if there's a run on other positions. I guess he's battling Davis for the #2 spot among QBs behind Stafford. I wouldn't consider it out of the realm of possibility if he ends up competing with Stafford for the #1 spot though. He's definitely the most physically talented USC QB to come out since Palmer.
  25. http://sports.espn.go.com/nfl/draft09/news/story?id=3833465 Sanchez reportedly in the draft. Crap.
