  1. I missed that last night. Daaaamn. And yeah, Tyrus has looked pretty good the last couple weeks. It's a wonder what knowing your role and exploiting your skill set can do for a young player. Kirk was +24 last night. Gordon did nothing offensively and Rose was ice cold most of the game and they still pulled out a W over one of the best teams in the league. Really shows how important Kirk CAN be to the team when he plays efficient ball.
  2. You know that Scott Wolif has a huge axe to grind with the program. He's a Veterans Committee stirrer in the Mariotti vein. that is a redflash-type comment, only for usc. Eh, there was approximately a 0% chance you were going to disagree anything Scott Wolf wrote if it had a negative slant. I doubt you've ever read him (and there's nothing wrong with that, it's not like I read Penn State's beat writer) but I'm not exaggerating when I say he really is a Mariotti-type.
  3. Remember Scott Wolf's scoops that said Lendwhale received a positive drug test the night before the draft (didn't exist) or that C.J. Spiller verbally committed to USC (went to Clemson). The guy is a hack who spews meaningless pablum for a dead paper. He's probably annoyed that he's outranked by luminaries such as Bill Plaschke and TJ Simers.
  4. You know that Scott Wolif has a huge axe to grind with the program. He's a Veterans Committee stirrer in the Mariotti vein. Well, half the posters at WeareSC.com seemed to think Carroll was way out of line. Carroll's reaction is THE story in the local sports media. I keep hearing Wolf has some sort of grind to pick but he's probably too busy oggling Pac-10 cheerleaders to do any actual work. The local sports media? You mean Wolf, Vic, and Hartman. Big whoop. I'm a little surprised at the candor Carroll's shown but i don't think it's anything egregious.

  6. Having Kirk back gives us another legit ball handler (instead of Gordon over dribbling and jacking up some horrid shot), a good perimeter defender, and relegates Hughes to lots of DNPs (or a trade, hopefully). That should at least cut down on the number of stupid/worthless possessions this team has. 33 assists on 40 made field goals is nice.
  7. I think Freeman has a chance to be pretty good. He needs a lot of seasoning but he looks the part of an NFL QB more than a lot of those pass wacky spread guys. He has a lot of ability and he was really hampered by being in a crappy, crappy K-State program.
  8. Matt Leinart was a top-10 pick when he came out. Sure, it's not No. 1, but it's not like he dropped into the second round or anything like that. He still got paid big time and it wasn't a stupid move to come back to USC for a year. Leinart was projected as top 2 or 3 pick after their National Title Win against Oklahoma. He choose to come back when he had nothing to prove in college football, and he dropped to 10th to Arizona where he's still riding the pine behind Warner. Leinart was projected as a top 2 or 3 pick the year he came out, too. In other news, that sound you just heard was Mitch Mustain cheering emphatically. Aaron Corp will get a very real shot at starting next year. I'd say Mustain is the clubhouse leader for now but he's more like a 60/40 favorite at this point, IMO.
  9. Yeah, I'm not sure how this will work out for him. I think he does have a lot to gain skills wise by coming back another year but the dearth of quarterbacks in this class, especially now that Bradford is coming back, is probably enticing. I could see anything from the top 15 to sliding until the late 2nd round for him if there's a run on other positions. I guess he's battling Davis for the #2 spot among QBs behind Stafford. I wouldn't consider it out of the realm of possibility if he ends up competing with Stafford for the #1 spot though. He's definitely the most physically talented USC QB to come out since Palmer.
  10. http://sports.espn.go.com/nfl/draft09/news/story?id=3833465 Sanchez reportedly in the draft. Crap.
  11. Why would Notre Dame give up its decided schematic advantage in Charlie Weis to hire Urban Meyer?
  12. And probably the greatest special teams unit in NFL history.
  13. Derrick's jumper has really flattened out recently. He's ice cold. The good news is that his playmaking and distribution has probably been better than when he was scoring a bunch.
  14. http://www.slate.com/id/2208429/ I can't wait for the inevitable Dateline/60 Minutes story: Are We Over Medicating Our Ballplayers?
  15. I do think our management image is better than in the Duncan/McGrady/Hill offseason. Even though the team sucks, it's not like Paxson has a reputation for being reviled by the rest of the organization like Krause was. And yeah, playing with Rose has to be a bonus.
  16. I remember after the 2000 season when we were way under the cap and the pipe dream was "we're signing Duncan, Hill, and McGrady to team up with Brand and Artest!" We ended up with Eddie Robinson and Ron Mercer :(
  17. I would do that in a heart beat knowing full well that JO is likely not going to be apart of any long term plan.
  18. I was thoroughly entertained and I expected to be bored to tears.
  19. Lol, good job Lendwhale. Remember to wash the pizza grease off before you carry the football.
  20. I'm so jealous of the Titans offensive line. Man, they are good.
  21. I wonder if Nick Young could be had in a trade. I think he'd be a nice fit alongside Derrick.
  22. It'd be pretty funny if the Celtics went from "Are they going to beat the 95-96 Bulls all time wins record?" to a #3 seed in the East.
  23. Michael Johnson has bust written all over him, IMO. I don't like those pass rushers with a high center of gravity and rely solely on speed. Maybe as a 34 OLB he'd be an interesting pick although I like Selvie better in that spot. Orakpo and Brown are two players I could get behind.

  25. lol, poor J.R. "BAH GAWD, THAT BOB STOOPS HAS A FAMILY. BAH GAWD, HOW COULD YOU DO THAT TEBOW!"
