If I'm reading this correctly, the author is attempting to temper his Izzo celebratory article by saying that Michigan State only advanced to the finals of the tournament in two of the five times they reached the final four. This makes no sense to me. How is this a critical statement? That means they made the final four five times, which is an accomplishment in and of itself. I don't get it either. I'm not sure I buy that Izzo is the greatest coach in the game, but I don't see any valid way to undermine his accomplishments. Where is MSU's program without him? Very likely, nowhere. How is Krzyzewski not? Depends on whether you weigh Xs and Os more than getting the talent to the school. Nobody does less with more than Coach K Rick Barnes. Coach K did win a national title more recently than Izzo.
