  1. Again, it goes back to the talent though. Other than Arkansas, MS has the smallest population of any SEC state yet has three Division I schools in it and has two powerhouses right across the border. LSU can completely monopolize their instate talent and with a school like Florida it doesn't matter that there are other big schools in the state because there are 18.6 million people there. MS only has a population of 2.9 mil. Also, schools in Alabama can afford to have two D-I schools competing because their population is double that of Ark or MS. Ole Miss did win 2 or 3 NC's back in the 50's and 60's, but of course that was a very, very different time. Yes, all of which could be ameliorated by the right hire. LSU had its resources but the biggest change, by far, was going from Dinardo to Saban. When Miles is done laying waste to the program a smart coach in the SEC West will be right there to change the pecking order. Edit: And I'm not saying Ole Miss can be become a juggernaught like Saban is building at Bama, I'm just saying a good coach could put them in the position to fight for NCs every now and then if things break the right way. I'm thinking more like Tuberville at Auburn and less Urban Meyer at Florida.
  2. Del Negro should've been whining about the refs for months now. Noah spoke up yesterday, justifiably, but every crowd already hates him and they'll be able to sway the refs even more. It's the coach that needs to be out there in the media. Pax should say something too. And of course Reinsdorf would never say anything either.
  3. There's nothing inherent at Ole Miss that would prevent the right coach from competing for an NC every now and then. It's not like LSU was a cadillac program before Saban got there (at least for a long time). Same with Florida and Spurrier.
  4. There's no spacing out there. The lane is clogged to [expletive]. Deng did a fine job on Lebron got my god he was brutal offensively.
  5. If there's any hope for a competitive series I think we're going to need to keep O'Neal off Noah and try to keep the game ugly. Gibson would be a better fit off the bench and let Miller foul/annoy Shaq.
  6. I wish Rose could get a call once.
  7. Too bad we didn't come out like this defensively to start the game.
  8. Yep, a jump shooting team that can't shoot...and definitely can't shoot 3s. I really hope we can S&T Deng away for a piece this summer.
  9. Well Cleveland sure snuffed the life out of this series pretty quickly. I'm pretty surprised at how much better their effort is. Lack of execution and talent I can see but a Cleveland team that hasn't had anything to play for in a month getting every loose ball and out hustling everywhere on the floor is a little disappointing. The PnR D has been astonishingly bad.
  10. Tracy looking for his first contact of the season?
  11. If by legendary actor you mean radical Maoist insurgent then yes.
  12. You have to be more balanced in college mainly because of the three point line being closer. There just isn't as much room for a one on one creator to dominate.
  13. I'm looking forward to the playoffs and will watch way too many games. The OKC/LA series could be VERY interesting with the Lakers hurt/scuffling down the stretch. KD could go off in the national spotlight. Most of the country has no clue how good this guy is.
  14. Well if Salmons had played that way all year we would've never traded him because there would've been zero chance he wouldn't have opted out into free agency. He's made himself good coin since he's been traded. We'd also probably in contention for at least a 6th seed, even with all the injuries because we'd have banked more wins earlier on. I'm glad we finished out strong because it makes us look more attractive and I just flat out want to see the Bulls in the playoffs. But if that 0-10 stretch had floundered on and there was no bounce back once we got healthy, yes, I do think we would look worse to FAs than we do now. Now we can be a pain in the ass to the Cavs and maybe nab a win or two and I like our position to land a big fish.
  15. And of course Tim in two months time will claim I said John Salmons is better than Kobe Bryant.
  16. John Salmons has been the 2nd best shooting guard in basketball since the trade. Yes, better than Kobe, Roy, and Joe Johnson. He's been outrageously efficient on the Bucks and led them on a huge run.
  17. Yes, clearly the trades did nothing to diminish the quality of the team because the Bulls proved they were just as good by getting in by the narrowest possible margin when they were in contention for a 5th seed just before the trades. In fact it was the trades that made the Raptors go into the tank at the same time the Bulls did to keep them within striking distance. Also, Salmons didn't make the Bucks better at all. Flip is actually better and Warrick isn't a horrific defender and rebounder either. Taking things out of context is fun!
  18. I've always loved Flip Murray.
  19. Flip is throwing the game.
  20. Good start. Noah is a god damned beast out there. Hopefully he doesn't hit a wall after playing so many minutes last night.
  21. Well I was talking purely about salary. Only Shaq has made more on that and Garnett will match him by the time his current deal is up (close to $300 million). Not sure what Garnett grossed through endorsements but he was very marketable for awhile. Obviously he'll be passed by Kobe, James, etc. in time.
  22. I didn't bring up Rose's intelligence, somebody else said he was too smart to crash a motorcycle and end his career. I'm well aware that it has nothing to do with on-court performance, one of the reasons Garnett went pro out of high school was because he couldn't qualify. Kevin Garnett shouldn't have spent a second in college even if he had a 4.0 and a 1600 on his SATs. It's easy to say that in retrospect, but who was the last guy to go to the NBA from high school before Garnett? Moses Malone? Well yes, I think retrospectively, it's very easy to conclude that the majority of players who jumped from high school to the NBA made the right decision. The track record is quite good. Even the guys who were disappointments (Chandler, Curry types) have made crap loads of money. There are not 3 human beings who have made more money playing basketball than Kevin Garnett.
  23. A Bobcats team with nothing to play for beating a desperate Bulls team and Suppan throwing a 2 hit shutout are preordained.
  24. I think Hart's confidence is broken. He isn't the same guy he used to be. Ever since he lost that epic douche-off with Hunter Pence.
