  1. http://sportsillustrated.cnn.com/2010/basketball/ncaa/mens-tournament/04/04/final.four.ratings.ap/index.html I'm surprised the TV ratings were strong.
  2. When someone makes fun of OU they're butt hurt whiners but when imb smacks talk you it's because it's fresh and inventive. just fyi
  3. Noah running the floor like a PG and throwing oops to Rose
  4. Bulls are playing against the Wiz and a loss would effectively end the season...if anyone cares. Also, apparently Shaun Livingston is back in the league.
  5. I don't think giving up a first rounder for a top 3 (maybe the best) receiver in the league that is 26 years old is any sort of exorbitant price.
  6. My favorite part about this is that the NCAA can pretty much arbitrarily expand from 65 to 96 when almost zero percent of the fan base was actively calling for it and then they'll talk about the logistical difficulties in instituting an 8 team football playoff.
  7. In a heartbeat.
  8. Maybe he deserves some credit for duping the general public into thinking Jerome Moiso and Dan Gadzuric were lottery picks.
  9. We need some sort of catch-all thread where Nuts&Gum can get bent out of shape about something completely innocuous.
  10. There was this Joe Montana fellow that turned out decent.
  11. And the number of ADs, university presidents, alumni, students, and fans that would take Lavin over Howland as the coach of its basketball team is still 0.
  12. I didn't follow UCLA that closely but he either had to have been a good recruiter or slightly better coach than he gets credit for. I know it's UCLA but still he wasn't that bad. And yeah it sucks to not have him doing Big Ten games. His recruiting was great early on (had the #1 class in...I want to say 1998) but it tailed off big time as the program continued to stall out in the Sweet 16 and you got further and further away from the 1995 national championship. He couldn't coach if his life depended on it. Getting to the Sweet 16 all the time isn't necessarily something to sneeze at. I figured Lavin was a better tourney coach than a regular season coach. Weren't some of those Sweet 16 "runs" pretty surprising at the time?
  13. He should be available later if Angelo wants to make an obligatory Abilene Christian pick. BTW, Washington was the dude who admitted to having consensual sex with his biological sister in interviews with teams.
  14. Asomoah looks pretty good here. Jerry would've been a nice pick.
  15. lol, there's a better chance that bosh, lebron and wade all died in a 3-hummer pile up outside of the all-star game this year than that one of them would give a thought to moving to detroit, anyway Yeah but their strategy was flawed in that they intended to be decent by signing Gordon and Villanueva. Obviously that team wasn't going to be a real contender even if the signings went great. Better off on holding on to the space and going into true tank mode. I guess the silver lining is that they've been bad enough to legitimately hope for getting a star in the draft but now they've got cap space to overpay Rudy Gay with.
  16. Duke has 3 times the McD All-Americans Texas does most years(note numbers a total estimation and may be completely made up) UT's put much better talent into the NBA recently than Duke has. Maybe Duke gets better high school players but I don't think there's any question UT has gotten better pro prospects. Rick Barnes is a horrible in game coach.
  17. If I'm reading this correctly, the author is attempting to temper his Izzo celebratory article by saying that Michigan State only advanced to the finals of the tournament in two of the five times they reached the final four. This makes no sense to me. How is this a critical statement? That means they made the final four five times, which is an accomplishment in and of itself. I don't get it either. I'm not sure I buy that Izzo is the greatest coach in the game, but I don't see any valid way to undermine his accomplishments. Where is MSU's program without him? Very likely, nowhere. How is Krzyzewski not? Depends on whether you weigh Xs and Os more than getting the talent to the school. Nobody does less with more than Coach K Rick Barnes. Coach K did win a national title more recently than Izzo.
  18. Because it's not as much of a sham in places other than USC. That's rich. You could take away any one big time athletic program and the NCAA would still collude with conferences and universities to maximize revenues off the free labor of Division 1 football and basketball players. That's sham amateurism by any definition.
  19. How do you guys find the energy to be offended by shady ethics in sham amateur sports?
  20. Yep, half a game back now with Toronto's collapse in Miami.
  21. Noah just posterized Maxiell, badly.
  22. It's still sad to see him play. I guess he got paid though. He's been disastrous this year.
  23. Not as scintillating as Flip "Ronald" Murray's shooting right now. Or as sad as watching Ben Gordon try to play basketball :[
  24. He also has plantar tendon problems just like Noah and Gibson. He's playing with a partial tear of it actually. Deng would probably be in an iron lung with that sort of injury. It also tells me that the Bulls need better shoes.
  25. Why would you want sulley to stop? With meph gone its NSBB's signature bit.
