    I'll admit that when I saw the boxing match start to percolate on twitter my immediate reaction was "this is horsefeathered up and wrong to let a man step into the ring with this woman" And then I read up on it more and found nuance through things like that Reddit post and I've completely flip flopped and now that poor woman is being destroyed for it. But now it's just crystallized for me how much this hellish asymmetric information warfare dystopia (now turbocharged by AI) being played by Putin et. al. we are entering is going to destroy everything and I don't really know if there's a way to stop it or even slow it down. Really depressing stuff.

    seems like the local beat guys/blog boys are circling around the narrative that keeping fields at least until camp was impossible and never in the cards which leads me to believe that was what the org was feeding them and they didn’t want to deal with the headache and questions

    im not doing any of the past cubs (who never won anything and were on mostly bad teams) a disservice sammy was literally one of the most famous people in the country for several years

    sammy sosa is the most important and exciting cubs player of all time and a huge reason they’re worth what they are worth now I didn’t grow up in Chicago in the 90s but me and my friends were obsessed with baseball and the cubs pre-98 had zero pull with us. no one gave two shits. it was all Griffey (and Frank to a much lesser extent) all the time. whatever currency the WGN cubs had as a national brand was cannibalised by the braves/tbs bring him back
