    The more i read about this nats situation the more it sounds as if Soriano isnt the only villain in this thing-Rogers does make some very good points in that article-he's not my favorite writer cough*brucemiles*cough-but he makes some valid points-Soriano would be a huge impact to our lineup-it would also make a strong impact on our bench moving hairston and Perez to the bench full time with mabry/grissom-Walker is going to be traded-i would rather get a perennial allstar like Soriano than a bag of balls like matos-Walker will not go yard 30 times this year or drive in 100-Soriano will-Not saying i think it would be the greatest move in history but it would definitely make us better-

    Folks I really think we should begin to prepare ourselves for Neifi at 2B/SS and hitting 2nd- I know its just ST but from the constant "veteran in the 2 hole", "better on defense", and Bakers comments in the Cryptic 2nd base quote thread we should really start to see the writing on the wall-Also keep in mind that Cedeno is having a bad Spring-all the more reasons for Dusty to get in his boy that saved us last year. Stupid is as stupid does is the perfect quote for our field general- *sorry, still a little bitchy over the UNC loss yesterday-bracket destruction.

    Aside from a massive amount of injuries, is there any way that Angel makes this team? you know i was thinking about that as well- conventional wisdom says he starts in AAA but what if he dazzles this spring? Wuld the Cubs be more willing to take extra time with Wood and Miller? If Guzman regains form and proves to be healthy things could get very interesting. My guess is AAA no matter what, but its fun to think about

    Guys, I have been one of the most vocally negative on this board about the upcoming season but I got a dose of perspective yesterday afternoon- A friend of mine was diagnosed with Brain Cancer and given less than a year to live-Not to be a downer to anyone, but it made me realize that i should not put so much emphasis on things and maybe just enjoy my Cubbies again-Life is so fragile-if you don't think so ask me how old my friend is-19. There are more important things than bashing Baker and Hendry, and I'm glad I have learned this-I wish i could have learned it a different way but that is life- I now share your optimism and just hope i am around in 6months to watch the ivy blow in the wind-

    Maybe- Jwill+Walker+R.Hill for Huff and Lugo? Sell high with Hill and dump Twalk( :evil: )and strengthen you bench and starting lineup a ton by moving Murton to platoon with Huff in LF and Lugo to SS-Huff also can spot Ramirez or Lee if God-forbid and injury occurs to one of them- CF-Pierre SS-Lugo 1B-lee 3B-Ramirez LF-Huff/Murton C-Barrett RF-Jones 2B-Cedeno Bench: Murton+Perez+Hairston+Grissom+Mabry+Blanco

    I am just getting sick of hearing about trades and them dragging on until they fizzle away-I like Williams too but you have to give something to get- we need a SS- Cedeno is capable but his numbers would look really good at 2B and only average'below average at SS-I think he will be a star in the league over the next few years. Lugo adds more speed and proven skill at the ML level- TWalk is gone-he has been gone since the season was over-for whatever reason i don't know but it is what it is-I would much rather lose him acquiring someone that is a known, proven commodity than a AA arm nobody knows-I have no excitement about this year at all-Lugo would just be another unexciting, ho-hum move for me, but is does make us better.....kinda-

    You'd have to retrade him, because he won't come close to living up to his next contract. I guess you could just be happy with him for a year and let hime walk-offer arby and get the picks from him- I wouldn't include Williams however-our pitching is far too thin for that-we have pitchers we can deal with Cpatt to fluff the deal up-Cpatt+Wellmeyer+Novoa for example-maybe they want an insurance policy for Vidro-send them Walker and they can send us Church( :twisted: )....

    I really think Hendry may be planning to move Murton-A team like the A's would be interested in a package of TWalk+Murton+R.Hill for Zito- Then perhaps flipping Zito+J. Williams+Cpatt+Novoa to Philly for Abreu- (Sorry, I'm just trying to find hope in this pathetic offseason) Pierre-CF Jones-LF(Dusty is going to bat him 2nd-because he has "speed") Lee-1B Abreu-RF Aram-3B Barret-C Perez-2B Cedeno-SS

    Hendry's love affair with Pie+Hill are going to lead us straight to last place-I can't believe I'm hearing the name Jacque Jones-such a typical Cubs move-flounder around in mediocrity when the Cards Juggernaut and Jocketty pull off solid move after solid move year after year-They have been too quiet and that makes me nervous-Jocketty is NEVER quiet, maybe because he is a top 5 gm in the league-wish we had one of those. Watch-we sign Jones and they'll get Abreu for Marquis+Reyes+prospects or something vomitous- I really can't understand how Giles was not on the radar-just imagine if we focused our Furcal love at him and signed him-then the Pierre move looks tremendous and call it an off season-
