    I dont think I can say no fast enough. really, wow, i understand the love of Murton's potential but you get a chance at a player of Ichiro's caliber you have to take it- i think you might be overvalueing Murtons Potential as well as Marshall and Gallagher- they are young unproven commodities- I think i couldnt say yes fast enough( if Ichiro wanted to sign an extension)

    Before you get the pitchforks and torches after me, i was just thinking that Seattle has already been informed of Ichiro's desire to test free agency and quite frankly the M's have had a very nonchalant attitude about it- Adding Ichiro to hit behind Soriano would be insane- It will take a very good package to get him and then the question becomes,"Do we sign him to an extension, and can we afford that and Zambrano?" If he would agree to an extension what would you part with to get him? I'd say Murton+J.Jones+Marshall+Gallagher for starters- We havent lost much in that scenario other than Murton- Jones get moved plus his contract which the M's may like plus we lose 2 young arms that really may not pan out at all, or they could be very good- Hell, i would do that even for a one year rental( except Murton)- If he signed an extension then Sori would move to LF and give Pie CF. You know Uncle Lou loves him some Ichiro:)

    I'm not envisioning any 1/1 type of trade. yeah, i'm thinking Eyre with Jones and a young arm to net a solid ML position player-

    The Yankees would probably be interested in Blaylock from Texas and they are in need of pitching- Cubs get: Arod+Pavano Rangers get:Marshall+Mateo+Gallagher? Yankees get Blaylock+Eyre

    People are wasting their time talking about this shortstop thing and Giles. The Cubs, whether you like it or not, are happy with Izturis and are not looking for a shortstop. They signed DeRosa for three years to be their second baseman. They are not going to sign Giles. I definitely don't like it even though what you are saying is true. It just goes to show you with all the money spent on this team we will be lucky to make the playoffs. isnt it ridiculous how much medicrity costs these days- a quarter of a billion for a third place team-

    Boys, as much as i hate to admit it, i think we are done- Hearing Hendry talk about Pie's defense in CF i think he is just going to stand pat with our lineup as is-let me just say yuck- other than a Cliff floyd signing to take at bats away from Murton, i just dont think Hendry is planning on anything else- you guys get the same feeling? Who knows, maybe the silence is Hendry putting together a blockbuster for Tejada :D , but i doubt it-

    If he walks next year..................it's the second coming of Greg Maddux. Seriously, I don't want to go throught that again!!!!! I agree, but i think we could get an absolute haul for Zambrano right now- If it were known we would let Z go in a trade we could fetch some really good talent, even though he is onl a year from FA- i personally love Z but there are some deals i would really have to look at if offered- Are there any deals you guys would move Z for out there? My guess is you would have to get proven 1 or 2 starter plus a stud prospect and position player-prefereably a SS- How about these deals? To Boston for Beckett+Papelbon+Pedroia? Anaheim for Santana+Wood+Colon? To Yankees for Arod? Dodgers for Penny+Billingsly+Ethier? any deal you guys think of that you would let Z go in?

    goony's right- i would rather trade Eyre and his salary but if we could get Crisp for Ohman then we would have to make that deal-Crisp just has too much potential value -

    Who knows if it's true, but interesting. Will Ohman looks an awful lot like Mike Gonzalez. Age, experience, WHIP, K/BB/H/IP, they look an awful lot alike. Ohman more healthy recently. Gonzalez obviously has better ERA's because Ohman is a HR-guy, Gonzalez not. Given the Cub situation and in the event that Boston was willing, would you trade Ohman straight up for Crisp and his $16/3 salary? sold.

    I woul much rather help the O's get Baldelli- a three way with them that nets us Tejada would be dandy- O's get=Baldelli+Jones+Izturis+Marshall Rays get=Penn+Marmol+Corey Patterson+Scott Moore Cubs get=Tejada+Gibbons We're basically trading a package of marshall+Marmol+Moore for Tejada-Plus we only take on around 2-3M from tejada's deal next year plus gibbons 4-5M. the O's save money and replace Penn with Marshall and get Baldelli for the next few years at a reasonable price- The Cubs could then just go with Pie in CF- RF-Soriano 2BDeRosa 1B-Lee SS-Tejada 3B-Aram C-Barrett LF-Murton/Gibbons CF-Pie

    would you have done Hill for Garcia because thats basically what the Phils did- hill is better than both floyd and gio...and he's better than the two of them combined. i was just making the statement that as far as organizations go, KW would have asked for Hill for Garcia just as he asked for Floyd- I just dont know why everyone feels we can get players via trade without giving up value- Floyd doesn't have much value. look up his numbers. young, cheap lefty under club control for a while with alot of upside.......yeah, no value there- not trying to argue but the same description could be made of Hill- I just am constantly amazed at the over-valueing done by Cub fans concerning prospects and unproven commodities such as Hill- yes, Hill looked good for 5 starts at the end of a "play it out" year- i'm not going to annoint him a #2 and untouchable as many here have and even Hendry. Would you do a Hill+Jones for Hudson?

    Braves get: Jones(5)+Dempster(5)+Hill+Izturis(4)+Mateo Cubs get: Hudson(6)(all of contract, 6,13,13))+Renteria(11)(all of contract) with the deal for Soriano the braves may be looking to reload with prospects/rebuild this year- this deal saves them a ton of money inthe long run- I hat to give up Hill but this deal puts us in contention-Deal Marshall for Church or just sign Lofton-sign Floyd RF-Soriano SS-Renteria 1B-Lee 3B-Aram LF-Murton/Floyd C-Barrett Z, Hudson, Lilly, Marquis, Miller/Prior

    maybe Jim is covering his bases- i mean, he probably knows Scmidt isnt signing anytime soon so what does he do, put offers out for Lilly and Meche in hopes of grabbing one so he isnt stuck waiting and losing out on Schmidt and getting nothing later when Lilly signed with the BJays and Meche signed elsewhere-just a thought- hell, as crazy as everything has been this offseason maybe he wants all three! I fyou dump Dempster and Jock on someone that saves you a Gil Meche right there!
