  1. That its justifiable he's not going into a year as a starter for someone.
  2. and NFL GMs are dumb meatballs. No one will sign Kaepernick, either. That's just so asinine. The jersey as kindling jersey sales boom is practically enough to justify the cost of Kapernick. I think both guys are just in a weird spot. Just talented enough to justify decent money. Just polarizing enough to scare off GMs who only see the downside to their job security. Eh, I think Kaepernick not being signed yet is pretty justifiable. 1) He's not THAT good. 2) He wanted 10 mill a year at one point 3) Its rhoulette. Jay couldn't find a gig either, plus the Fitzpatrick's of the world and others. He'll get signed, but not as a starter and not for much money.
  3. Yeah, as much as I wanted one next year, its impossible to actually blame Pace for taking his shot now. He obviously likes Trubisky enough to risk his job on him. Plus, even if we had made the KC deal.....We wouldn't have the ammo to get past Cleveland, if they liked the same QB. There's plenty that like Allen better than Darnold currently. And this transfer Auburn has(Stidham) looks like he's going to potentially be mentioned with the top tier of guys too. Its still definitely worth following, because it still helps us indirectly, if that class is awesome.
  4. Cubs are still in the penalty box, but are still considered the favorites to sign the number 30 prospect this upcoming season. He's out of Mexico, so the Cubs are taking advantage of the loophole again, where only the amount given to the player counts against the bonus.(25%) Only 2 pitchers in the entire top 30, seems as if its been that way for a few years now. Longer list of guys names outside the top 30 too, I'd say there's a chance the Cubs could be in on some of them.
  5. Yeah, who would want a QB next year, what with that class being universally considered to be far better than this year? I wanted one of them next year too. I think there'll be multiple guys expected to be better than Trubisky. But, its immaterial, if Pace thinks Trubisky is a franchise guy himself.(which he does) He took a chance now, instead of waiting and running into a chance that the Bears can't find a way to move up to get one of them or they don't wind up developing as expected. If he's wrong, he's fired. If we DO wind up in a position to draft one next year, he'll get a true haul for trading out of the pick.

  7. Unrein is a DE starter for us currently, isn't he? Hicks/Goldman/Unrein with Floyd/Houston and McPhee/Young playing OLB? I wouldn't be surprised if Unrein is cut tomorrow. If the Bears feel comfortable with Howard's health, there's just no need for Unrein who provides nothing in the way of pass rush. He's a warm body who doesn't have as much talent as Howard, nor as much upside as Bullard, John Jenkins, Robertson-Harris, or probably even Will Sutton. Its a rotational spot and multiple guys will see snaps obviously, but I'd expect Sutton to be the guy cut first. Unrein isn't much either, but unless Bullard takes a step forward, I'd expect him to see plenty of snaps one way or another. Hopefully Howard sees the most, by far though. I'm really interested in how Robertson-Harris looks. I think he'll be the reason we cut Houston in a month or so.
  8. Sutton is probably the low man on the totem pole at the moment. Unrein is a DE starter for us currently, isn't he? Hicks/Goldman/Unrein with Floyd/Houston and McPhee/Young playing OLB?
  9. The value was a bit light, if Pace sees Trubisky as a franchise guy(he obviously does), you'd need to be overwhelmed to move out of 3. They were just too far down to pull off a move like that. Kind of fun to think about though..... Love the Howard signing. Hopefully he beats out Unrein.
  10. Because they're really pumped over getting out of that? Calm down, Buzz. He would hate 15 Cubs players if he was a fan of another team. Javy because, lots of stuff Strop, because of his hat Contreras, because he's emotional Lackey, because of everything Lester, because you're frustrated they don't steal more Jake, because you think his beard is just for menned Addy, because he's got the sperm of a champ KB, because he's perfect Zobrist, because you hate Christian Rock Hendricks, because he's too smart to play baseball Szczur, because you can't spell his name Almora, because you wish you looked like him Carl, because you wish you could half as much as him and not be fat Maddon, because he charms you to death Ross, because its so obvious everyone hates him
  11. Just going off the "traditional" trade chart, that doesnt get close. Represents about 80% value of what it needs to. Based off an analytical model, its like 80% excess value... So analytics say you run with that, but as a market participant you're kind of leaving "easy" value on the table... kind of an intetesting. Personally at that high in the draft, I'd say stick to market values/trends. Use the analytical model to get deals later on. Deal fell apart when Pace asked for Putney.
  12. I love Jay just as he is, but he could only be a good broadcaster if hes been hiding a horsefeathers load of charm the past 11 years. Don't be full of charm. You're total lack of giving a horsefeathers what people think is what makes you endearing. I disagree. I want to see Jay sneer at a QB's lack of arm strength. "Jesus, really? He can't make THAT throw?" I want to see him laugh at all the dropped passes. Let him throw in some Urlacher hair comments each broadcast. Sneer at his broadcast partner, "You guys are clueless, aren't you?"
  13. Miggy needs his walk up music to be Real American.
  14. https://twitter.com/billazbbphotog/status/860191755311783936 Two very respected evaluators.....Fringe or plus curve? Good lord, that's quite a difference of opinion lol. Needless to say, scouting is an inexact science.
  15. [tweet] [/tweet] I'm assuming neuritis means his elbow fell off.
  16. BA top 200. At some point soon, we'll start hearing about bonus demands and probably get a feel for who we're looking at in the early rounds.
  17. From a potential impact standpoint, it'd be Cease, Albertos, and De La Cruz, in that order, for me. Far and away ahead of anyone else. Their chances of getting there are why I think Clifton is the best shot we have.
  18. We were spoiled last year. What was the stat soccer10k posted earlier today, that our RD was like +95 at this point last year? It's really only that. There are going to be a ton more dog fights unless the rotation gets back to what we are accustomed to. But it's not really worrisome or bad. We can still be really good without blowing everyone out. I think there's a really good chance we'll go thru a 17-3, 18-2 type of stretch where we are just dominant. With as poor as we've played, to be 15-12 at this point, is pretty decent. There's probably some letdown, where its impossible to avoid honestly. But, there's going to be a dominant stretch, where the pitching and hitting are both hot.
  19. It would be interesting to go back to the Wade thread and see the reactions at the time. Definitely not universal praise. In fact, the furthest thing from it. But, there was also concern he wouldn't be healthy. I suppose that is still a concern that lingers. But he's horsefeathering nails right now. He's pitching at the level he was at when he was at his very best. Which is amazing, because his spring training was complete ass. Joe said he'd be fine. I think I believe him.
  20. A. Because why would Wade decide to ever give up a run?
  21. Clifton has come a long way since we drafted him. To me, he's the best bet of any pitcher in our minors, to become an actual part of our future rotation. My hope is he pitches well enough to get 10 starts or so in Iowa this year.
  22. AZPhil mentioned a few days ago that Ademan and Amaya are the two best position prospects to come thru EXST since Eloy and Torres.
  23. Are you trying to tell me Bryzzo promotes cannibalism?
