  1. It'd be hard for me to leave off McNutt right now. May even put Johnson at or around 10, based on what's been said about him by some analysts.
  2. I've still got Szczur well ahead of Lake, age be damned. Just see the plate discipline as a major accomplishment for Matt. Extra base hits are the same too, just fewer homers so far obviously. To me, Lake's early season plate discipline was great, but doesn't look like it was for real. He's a level higher and they're the same age, but I think Szczur's lack of playing baseball fulltime until very recently gives him a nod still.
  3. If you look at what some teams will be graduating, it makes it a bit easier to project. The Blue Jays, Pads, Rangers, and Cards are probably the top 4 at the end of the season. Other teams with good systems are Red Sox, Rays, Braves, A's, DBacks, Pirates, Royals, and Mariners. Without going through each one, the returns we could get for those 3 guys could vault us past each one, factoring in graduations and the seasons some of the players involved are having. As I said, I figure Rizzo is our only big prospect I expect to lose eligibility for us. Brett Jackson, possibly, as well. I don't see Brett getting more than a September callup at this point, unless his K rate cuts down majorly over the next month or so. Nor do I see him losing much in major outlet prospect rankings either though, so he helps our cause, in this scenario, by not getting the required PA.

  5. The team acquiring Dempster wouldn't receive any compensation for him at the end of the season, under the new CBA. That said, a team looking to extend Dempster could still give us a very solid return. It's a sellers market, due to the extra wildcard and the amount of teams likely to still be in it.
  6. One of these things, is not like the others... Yeah, I know. But with the lack of bats likely to show up on the market, I do think we could net a surprising return for him. You shouldn't be surprised to get a live human for him. But the return won't move the team from top ten to top 5. I'm aware. Didn't say trading him alone would do that.

  8. To me, if we trade Dempster, we may move into the back end of some top 10 systems in baseball arguments. If we trade Garza and LaHair on top of that, we're easily in, possibly towards top 5.
  9. Badler just said everyone knew Soler was going to the Cubs and saying anything else would have been an insult to our intelligence.
  10. Yeah, won't surprise me if there's things we find out later on either. If it's a straight 9/30 deal, then it's a phenomenal way of getting the deal done. It appears to me that Theo and Jed spent the amount of time needed with Soler, to know to structure things in the way he wanted it. I find it hard to believe other teams went about structuring deals this way, because the bidding would have gotten higher, due to the small amount of outlay each year towards overall team payroll.
  11. Little to zero video on Soler. Potential 70ish power, strong arm, fairly quick for now, body has lots of projection, so he'll slow down. All I've got. Not even sure how his plate discipline or contact skills are for sure, although if I remember, he needs to be better at both.
  12. Oh, and NINE years? That is [expletive] AWESOME.
  13. I may be in the minority, but I'd take Soler over Cespedes. I'll give KG a break. He's getting twenty Twitter questions a minute about Soler. No disgrace at all to say Sano is a better prospect either.
  14. You should go anyway this year, to see Javy Baez. As far as Soler goes, it won't surprise me to see him have the kiddie gloves put on him this season. He's got to get acclimated, he hasn't played much competitive baseball recently either. Badler brought up he could play DSL ball this season, for tax purposes, although it's unlikely. My guess is we let him play some at Boise this year, but no higher.
  15. http://www.the-review.com/local%20sports/2012/06/07/ahs-grad-saunders-drafted-by-chicago-cubs Saunders is signed or will be very soon.
  16. Sucks that Joel Sherman has yet to credit Assman22.
  17. http://www.portclintonnewsherald.com/article/20120607/SPORTS/206070321/Cubs-draft-Hamann Hamann has either signed or is going to.
  18. SWEET ASS SWEET!!!!![expletive] YEAH!!!!!!!!!
  19. This is awesome obviously, but I wish we'd wait until we get something a tad more concrete.
  20. All I know is he was matched up against Bryce Harper in some National tournaments, when they were 15 or 16. If he's been lying age-wise, it started a long time ago.
  21. It's rolling the dice basically. If he pitches well, I guess it's possible teams in the AL East take note and begin to think he may be OK in that division. I want him dealt between now and even then personally. Injury risk each time out, plus he's due to come back down to earth. Not to mention, if you deal him now, I guess the more starts he can make for his new team enhances his value a bit as well.
  22. Well, the potential 48-72 hour thing is new, and shitty.
  23. Olney's going to be on ESPN 1000 ina minute, maybe now, to talk Soler, Cubs, etc. Someone please recap.
  24. Taylor Scott made Boise. That's the first real surprise for me.
