  1. Yeah, congrats Raisin. What championship are you winning tomorrow?
  2. I'm just trying to figure out what IS fair value for IFA space. Reggie Golden for close to a million? Zych or McNutt for the same? I honestly have no idea. Maybe a guy like Chris Rusin has some semblance of value for a bit of IFA money?
  3. The Dodgers REALLY like Lee. He was off limits last deadline from what I can remember. Considering the year he's having, I doubt thats changed. The Dodgers look to be trying to deal for high salaried guys, to lessen what they have to give up. I seriously doubt we're a good fit for them.
  4. It will be very interesting to see how teams value IFA space. As an example, I'll use Alberto Cabrera as a trade piece. I could see a team like the Marlins(who doesn't spend on IFA) valuing a guy like Cabrera pretty highly. The Marlins highest piece of their pool is 1.763,100. Is trading that for Cabrera smart or dumb? In all likelihood, it'd buy you Marcus Diplan with a few hundred thousand left over. What are the true odds you even develop Diplan to the point that he becomes a fair SP prospect in AA, with a solid shot at becoming a middle reliever to set up type guy? From 16, I can't think the odds are that great myself. But, if we go try and acquire space, its guys like him that I suspect will be the trade bait. How do you guys figure we'd acquire extra space?
  5. Either that, OR they realize they can't get both Jimenez and Torres. Could just be moving from Torres to a slightly less expensive player. OTOH, the CCO listed us as being after Diplan a day or two ago.
  6. My guess is its no different than the draft. Parks talks to multiple sources from each organization and combines that with his own looks to get his rankings. The Cubs prospect board for other teams likely is done the same way. With it weighted towards their own opinions over others. Which may be different than Parks, who doesn't have nearly as many opinions within BP to go on, as the Cubs have scouts to go off of. In the end, I'm sure the Cubs list has some ghys they just don't want any part of, for whatever reason and there likely are some adjustments on rankings, but I would think a Cubs list of the top 100 prospects has the same feel as Law or Parks list does. Fairly standard, with a few WTF types thrown in.
  7. If the return for Garza is headlined by a guy below AA and someone who had TJS 3 months ago, then the Front Office has failed. So, by your thinking, a trade of Garza that waa headlined by Buxton or Correa, is a failure, because they haven't hit AA yet. Hedges will likely see AA at some point this season, by the way.
  8. You guys don't like Hedges? He's probably the best C prospect in the minors. Kelly is a risk, but I'd be very happy with that pair as a Garza return.
  9. Forget Fuentes, I'd take Hedges and Kelly and not think twice.
  10. I agree, but his stats don't show him as a dominant type guy. We've got Shark, Edwin, and Wood here longterm, with a definite need for a TOR type. Hopefully that piece is dealt for somehow. No clue what type of money Gonzalez will get, but no first Cuban player contract has been ridiculous either. If they feel he'll at least be a 4th starter type for a while, 6-8 mill a year isn't a horrible investment to lock in a spot.
  11. I think its very likely we'll try to acquire a comp pick or two, because its fairly likely we could lose our 2nd rounder this year, by signing a player like Choo, as well.
  12. We're likely going to need to do another of these around August 1st. We'll have small sample sizes to dream on out of our draft class, a few IFA signings, and potentially trade pieces we've obtained for Garza, Feldman, and Schierholtz(Soriano, DeJesus, Villanueva, Russell, or Gregg could all net returns worthy of top 30 status as well, if dealt), to factor in. At any rate, if we do NOT make a huge trade over the offseason, its very possible that we'll have 5 top 20 prospects at this point next year, with plenty of other possibilities inside the top 100 as well. Even if we trade two of our current big 4 between now and then, we're still very likely to be a top 5 system at this time next year.
  13. 1 Baez 2 Soler 3 Almora 4 Bryant 5 Alcantara 6 Johnson 7 Vogelbach 8 Vizcaino 9 Candelario 10 Lake 11 Paniagua 12 Zastryzny 13 Villanueva 14 Blackburn 15 Szczur 16 Torreyes 17 Underwood 18 Cabrera 19 Hendricks 20 Contreras 21 Skulina 22 Vitters 23 Ha 24 Amaya 25 Maples 26 Hannemann 27 Dunston 28 Watkins 29 Masek 30 Hernandez If Leal or Clifton were listed as options, I would have flipped a coin between them at 30.
  14. does the fact that he's arbitration-eligible next year make him more valuable? not sure what his price tag would inflate to as Arb3, but he'd still be a good bargain at $4m or whatever given his current production. Absolutely, it does. It wouldn't surprise me that IF we deal him, we'll get the best return out of anyone we're likely to deal. My guess is only one of him or DeJesus is dealt. The other slots into our OF next year, along with Soriano(who isn't hitting enough to deal currently) and an Ellsbury or Choo.
  15. Marlin mentioned that Schierholtz could be the first guy dealt and that his value is quite high.
  16. Paul Blackburn: 5IP 3H 1R 0ER 1W 4K with a 10-0 GB/FB ratio. Two starts? Screw it. I'm starting the bandwagon.
  17. Lake with 2 homers tonight.
  18. By any chance, anyone listen to Olney's podcast today? It's evidently got some deadline scouting perspective on Feldman, Gregg, and Schierholtz. Schierholtz being the very interesting one, I'd like to have an idea anyway of what type of return he could possibly get us. Obviously, it'd have to be excellent, if we actually dealt him, since we'd control him next year at a nice salary.
  19. Carlos Rodriguez went 2, walking one and striking out two. Surprised he isn't in Arizona's rotation, but figure he'll get plenty of chances over the course of the season.
  20. Nice. I'm ready to see him hit Tennessee.
  21. Damnit, Boise rained out. Really looking forward to seeing Blackburn follow up his first outing.
  22. Everyone's freaking out on Twitter about him pitching tonight and maybe they'll be justified in the end. But it IS his scheduled throw day and if he goes 50 pitches or so, I see no real harm with it. If they let him go 100, its another story obviously. But they've made it sound like he'll just go a few innings and originally had it planned for him to pitch in middle relief.
  23. Seems kind of odd we don't even have a roster for Arizona yet, considering they're playing tonight.
  24. Badler posted an article with some stuff on Torres in it. Anything interesting or just a rehash?
