  1. Am I reading it wrong? Because I'm taking that to mean teams are automatically going to trial, if they don't have agreements by the 12th. No more coming to meet in the middle a few days before the hearing.....
  2. [tweet] [/tweet] Uh, when did this happen?
  3. 3rd straight tank W. Included was Lauri with 22 and 12. Dunn was in foul trouble and had one of his worst games, as a Bull.
  4. I'm honestly not sure, but I'd guess the answer is yes. Pro-rated, I guess? At any rate, I doubt they'd do one during the season anyway.
  5. You don't extend anyone right now. Not this off season, or at least not until you've filled your pitching staff out. Because it raises his number for the LT, for the upcoming season. Next year, when we're definitely going to go over is when you try and extend some of these guys.
  6. Considering who the rumored teams are that are serious about adding starting pitching, the Cubs honestly are the easy choice. They run the Free Agent market right now.
  7. I can get that sentiment for sure. But, I'd guess his next 2 years are in the same vicinity of production as Jake or Yu, at a fraction of the money and without the back end of those deals we're likely going to hate.
  8. I'd do Albertos/Lange/Caratini in a second for Cole. Considering they blocked us from getting Nicasio, I'd guess they'd start with Happ. I'd probably be willing to trade him straight up or even with a little extra for Cole. Mainly because it'd allow us to do other things this off season.
  9. Nightengale brought up 4/110 is what we're evidently OK with on Jake. Again, its Nightengale, so whatever.....
  10. I think they'd go outside the org. And TT is right, its almost a certainty they add a vet C. But, it could be one of the guys I mentioned. Maybe they'd take an NRI(confident Geo would). Plus, its possible they could deal for those pieces. Definitely possible on the OF, as I'd guess there's some borderline decent guy you could acquire that's still pre arb, that's not too costly. I meant would the guys being acquired be AAA depth because you just listed 12 position players and (outside of a CF defensive specialist) I don't see a need for another OFer. And yes, I'd go with a vet C that's an above average game caller and receiver and have Caratini start in AAA, I'd guess if we acquire an OF, it would be a Szczur type with an option. So he's up if we've got 12 pitchers, or an injury, but can be stashed, if needed. But, a guy with more ML experience than Zagunis. Hell, Zagunis could be who gets dealt for this fictional guy I'm not even sure exists lol.
  11. Would the C and OF be veteran AAA depth then? I think they'd go outside the org. And TT is right, its almost a certainty they add a vet C. But, it could be one of the guys I mentioned. Maybe they'd take an NRI(confident Geo would). Plus, its possible they could deal for those pieces. Definitely possible on the OF, as I'd guess there's some borderline decent guy you could acquire that's still pre arb, that's not too costly.
  12. If you need a vet on an NRI, I guess Carlos Ruiz, AJ Ellis or Geo conceivably works.
  13. Its possible we literally do nothing on the position side of things. C Willy Caratini 1B Rizzo 2B Javy Zobrist SS Addy 3B KB Seal Boy LF Schwarber CF Almora Happ RF Heyward We've got 12 and we carry 13 pitchers quite often anyway. Add an NRI backup C and OF, we easily could be done, without doing anything.
  14. Something else to consider on our end.....The arbitration guys. I'm going off MLBTR estimates obviously. Those final figures are super important to us, in this situation. Those estimates are.... KB 8.9, Addy 2.3, Hendricks 4.9, Wilson 4.3, Seal Boy 1, and Grimm 2.4. You can cut Grimm and he's only 400k. But, if those other figures come in slightly higher, it just means less for anything else. My guess is they're trying their best to get these agreements in place right now. So they know what they've got to give Yu. Or even Jake.
  15. We have in the vicinity of 35 mill to spend and stay under the LT. That said, any in-season moves come from within that too. I really want Darvish, but if you get him, its likely leaving you with 7-8 mill to spend on anything else we need currently AND in-season additions. Can we do that? I guess so. But, it'd require Caratini to be the backup C or some old dude on a NRI. Plus, no more pen additions, outside of NRI's. Same with a backup OF. I'd be completely ok with it, if you can get a Cedeno and/or a Feliz for the pen. Maybe Geo as the backup C..... Obviously, we could create room by a trade. But, I'm not seeing much for us to just dump either. I really am starting to think we truly prefer trading for the rotation piece. It would make things much easier in every aspect.
  16. So, the Bears have around 42 mill of cap space currently. Is this the year Pace finally spends? I'd have to say it is. They've got to show serious signs of improvement at some point, can't see why its not now..... On top of the 42 they've currently got, they can cut these guys and save quite a bit more..... Glennon (11.5) Sitton (7.9) McPhee (7.0) Sims (5.7) Massie (5.5) Wheaton (5.0) Cooper (4.5) Young (4.5) Freeman (3.5) Demps (3.3) That's 58.4 mill more. In other words, they've got 100 mill to spend, if they want..... QB Trubisky RB Howard Cohen WR Meredith WR White WR TE Shaheen LT Leno RT LG RG Long C Whitehair LDE Hicks Robertson-Harris NT Goldman RDE Bullard OLB Floyd ILB Trevathan ILB Kwiatkowski Jones OLB CB Callahan CB FS Jackson SS Amos They don't have to get rid of all of those guys that are cuttable, but I'd guess most of them are gone. And honestly, with this much cap space....If you think Fuller bolts, I'd go ahead and franchise him. Again, you can keep some of the guys that you can save on, but we've got plenty of cap room to add 2-3 WR's, an O-Lineman, a CB or 2, and an Edge rusher.....
  17. [tweet] [/tweet] Love this man.
  18. Nice home tank W over a Lillard-less Portland squad. It seems like we've missed more stars than normal, and Harden is going to miss us now too.
  19. Official.
  20. Yeah, and Bradley Chubb or Josh Rosen would be a steal in the third round. Maybe they can scoop up Saquon Barkley in the fourth to back up Jordan Howard. I've seen rumors that Williams could fall to the 2nd on WalterFootball. Says that teams value him quite a bit less than mock guys do. Some teams even have mid round grades on him, according to Charlie Campbell.
  21. 2014-15: 17.1 ppg / 6.8 rpg / 1.5 apg 43.2% fg 26.5% 3pt 82.8% ft (5.8 attempts per game) in 26.9 mpg 2015-16: 14.5 ppg / 4.9 rpg / 1.8 apg 44.7% fg 44% 3pt (6.4 attempts per game) in 27.3 mpg 2016-17: 14.4 ppg / 6.1 rpg / 1.5 apg 47.7% fg 42.2% 3pt (6.6 attempts per game) in 27.5 mpg Stealing that from RealGM. Its 21 game stretches that Niko has posted each year. That's how many games he'll have played by Jan.15th, the first day he can be dealt. Pretty sobering stuff, if there's anyone here thinking he's definitely taken a leap forward. Hopefully, he keeps it up and we can get something fun for him. And hopefully he's dealt right at that time, to get us back to losing more frequently.
  22. Not officially, but the 30 second presser seems to be a good indicator at least.
  23. I’d guess not a ton. Pace basically staked his job on Mitch being the Bears QB for awhile. If they hire a coach who gives up on Mitch all the sudden his rope is very thin. I don't mean right away, but after 2018 if he isn't much better, a coach is going to want the option to start somebody else. And if you don't offer that kind of thing, you aren't getting the best coaching candidate available. I brought that up before we took a QB. I think aligning a new coach with the QB of his choice was the right way to go. But, I do think Mitch has shown enough, to where its not going to impair our search either. Plus, you've got lots of cap room, a pretty solid D, and its easy enough to talk yourself into thinking 2 wideouts, an offensive line addition, and a CB could put you back into the playoffs quickly.
  24. The next 10 games probably dictate things for us. Maybe decides whether Niko stays or goes. If they go 6-4 or better, its hard to blame them if they chase the playoffs. But, included in the 10 games are Washington away and Golden State and Houston at home. That conceivably should be 3 losses. They've also got Portland and Toronto at home. Hopefully there's a loss between those as well. That'd be 4. You've got Detroit and Miami at home and Indiana, New York, and Dallas on the road for the rest of the 10. 5-5 puts you at 18-27. Easy to pull the plug on Niko at that point, if not earlier, if they are worse than that.
