  1. The guy I just mentioned, David Peterson, is a LHP(HS) that broke his leg early in the season, but had generated a bit of 1st round buzz. Still a fan of Mac Marshall and Keaton McKinnie but I'm not sure how much $$ there is with 4 straight HS arms. Both would require 7 figures. I think we're done with bigger name signings. Can't imagine we've got room for another unless Schwarber went for 3 or under and Stinnett went for 500K or less. The college guys would have to go for slot, and Sands/Steele/Cease sign for 1.5 over slot combined. That'd leave us 6-700k plus the 5% money.
  2. Damn, Norwood is a very solid get in the 7th.

  4. I'd love to find a way to afford David Peterson too, but my guess is Cease/Sands/Steele takes up all the savings from Schwarber/Stinnett, possibly the 5% money too.
  5. There was a lot of talk on draft day that Schwarber was going 8 to Colorado or 10 to the Mets, if Conforto was gone. The Cubs aren't saving $1.5 million on him. I'll buy 10, but I think Colorado had zeroed in on Freeland. 10th pick was still only 2.9 and change. And that's without knowing he was guaranteed to go there. If he gets 3.5 or more, I'll be disappointed. In taking Cease, I think it shows we had a LOT to play with, at any rate.
  6. it's the 5th round; if it's not a major overslot then you're not going to be overwhelmed by whoever is drafted. That may be true, but I know I expect to see a few more major overslots based on yesterday's picks. Exactly. Considering Schwarber likely would have went around 15 or so, I'm expecting at least a mill, maybe 1.5 in savings from that pick alone. Stinnett as a college senior has no leverage, I expect him to come in at half of slot. With the 5% money, I'll be disappointed if we don't have 2 mill to play with. Sands takes up 500k or so of it, but I'm definitely expecting us to grab at least one more major over slot guy. Maybe even 2, especially depending on if we take college seniors in 8-10, which we've done in the past. I don't want it spread out personally over 6 guys, I'd rather give it to 2-3 legit upper round talents.
  7. Not overwhelmed with this one, hopefully he's just a minor overslot.
  8. Finally. Wish we knew how much under slot we went on Schwarber and Stinnett. This basically takes the 5% money.
  9. High upside P Austin DeCarr to the Yankees. Extremely low mileage on his arm too.
  10. does it? It does if you want pitching.
  11. Sigh. This [expletive] sucks.
  12. According to Cotillo, Mac Marshall has decided to go to LSU.
  13. I thought Cease already had TJS?
  14. You should just volunteer to give us that title. I stay out of college basketball discussions here because this is obviously Big 10 country and I'd be an idiot to rile everyone here up. I'd be the [expletive] village idiot. I care way too much. This is the product of Doherty and his lack of recruiting knowledge. We stay away from problem kids for the most part. We just pass on them. Because there's going to be someone else that wants to play for us. This was a Doherty mistake. But it was also an admin mistake. All that needed to be done here was give the [expletive] some sort of cushy job and this [expletive] doesn't come out. We all know it happens everywhere. But our [expletive] idiots were way too cocky and backed him into a corner. And he's talking. It's what we deserve on multiple levels, ignoring the fact that its illegal to begin with. Our higher ups have totally thought we were immune to the NCAA for far too long. This is a total shock to these assholes. No idea what the end game is here, but I'm going to be hating it, that's for sure.
  15. We are fucked. [expletive] you Rashad.
  16. With 3rd round slot around 700k, I think it's entirely possible we've got the flexibility to offer Bukauskas 3 mill, if we want to. As dead set as he is on UNC(great taste too) I'm not sure he could turn THAT down.
  17. I'm pretty disappointed currently. Talent-wise, we've done OK. But to pass on Reid-Foley and all the other HS pitchers that went after our pick really disheartened me. We have almost definitely under slotted both of our picks, so we either have a ton of extra money to play with heading into the 3rd round or PTR is truly broke. I honestly believe it's the first option, so we had better take a few high upside HS pitchers in rounds 3 and 4. Surely the FO has done the research, the legwork, whatever. Knows how much it'll take to get Bukauskas or a few guys like Sands, Cease, Marshall, Johnson, or a few others. Total guess, but we may have 2.5 mill to over slot from this point forward.(1.6 on Schwarber, 500k on Stinnett and over 400k on 5% money) Don't wait til round 11 to take Butauskas or these other guys. Do it now. Because other teams can still take a bunch of seniors and make runs at these guys too. No way we'll know for sure they stay on the board that long. Hell, I'm worried Houston takes one of them to start tomorrow off. Bukauskas makes me happy or a pair of the other high upside guys. But I really hope we start this in round 3 and not round 11.
  18. Hoping against hope here, but taking under slot guys in both 1-2.....Tells me they work the phones hard as hell tonight on the overslot guys left and come to an agreement with one in round 3. Can't wait til the 11th, in my opinion.
  19. Our gigantic group of pitchers taken in rounds 2-10 last year basically all suck.
  20. He's a [expletive] senior. What the [expletive] are we saving money on? Sorry, but this sucks serious [expletive] dick.
