  1. I saw it, it requires Melo taking 11 mill or so in the 1st year. So while he's not feasible, Deng actually very much is. Oh, Dunleavy would need to be dealt for a 2nd or something in order for it to work. The key is getting your salary down to Rose, Love, and Noah.
  2. Not 100% sure, but I think Carbonell and Iglesias both need to sign somewhere by Sunday. There's a moratorium on IFA signings from the 16th thru July 2nd and if they have less than FOUR years of pro ball, they'll get re-lumped in and be considered underage IFA's, due to the new rules. Almost positive Carbonell falls under this and I think Iglesias does too.
  3. P Tommy Thorpe is signing, per Yags. Said in a radio interview today, headed to Arizona soon.
  4. I'm starting to wonder if there are as few sellers as it looks like there may be.....I'd set his value as the middle ground between Garza and Feldman. Maybe even closer to Garza.
  5. 21st round OF has evidently signed.(Yagyu)
  6. Steele's Twitter bio now reads LHP for the Chicago Cubs, Yags is awesome.
  7. For some reason, when making this post, I thought Valbuena only had one more year under control. With 2 more, he'd have to command that much more obviously.
  8. For those not following Yagyu's tracker, here's where we stand.... Signed 1- Schwarber(Junior)C 3- Zagunis(Junior)C 11- Brink(Junior)P 12-Griggs(JC)P 13-Mitchell(HS)3B 16-Vosler(junior)SS 20-Tomasavich(senior)SS 25-Pearson(senior)C 27-Graves-CF(senior)CF Positive notes(seem like they're signing) 2-Stinnett 4-Sands 5-Steele 7-Williams 8-Thorpe 9-Farris 10-Williams 15-Null 19-Markey (All pitchers) 21-White OF 22-Martarano-3B Lots of undecided comments on others, only negative actually is 23rd rounder OF Gilliam, as McLeod mentioned we're not likely to sign him. Nothing of note on Cease, other than his Twitter feed talking about he doesn't need school and a classmate asking for money. But nothing of any substance.
  9. We're going to have 60 mill committed to next year with this in place..... P Shark, Wood, Jackson, Arrieta, Hendricks Pen-Rondon, Ramirez, Grimm, Wright, Russell, Parker, Rosscup, Vizcaino, Rivero C Castillo 1B Rizzo 2B Valbuena SS Castro 3B Javy LF Lake CF Alcantara Sweeney Ruggiano RF KB We've got 92 mill on the books currently and had the ability to pay 20 mill a year to Tanaka. We did spend on Hammel and Bonifacio, so subtract that and it leaves us with the ability to carry 105 mill in payroll. Which leaves us able to spend 45 mill to add to what I listed as our lineup and staff. Why trade Shark now? We can add a TOR type to him and have a formidable rotation. And still have 20-25 mill to add a couple of OF as well thru FA or trade. I totally get why they'll spend this offseason, but keeping Shark seems like a no-brainer at this stage to me. And he's smart enough to see we're getting close. If he wants 6/120 or so, bend on it. If he needs a NTC, give him a partial or something. But he needs to stay, we can contend if we add 45 mill on a SP and 2 OF.
  10. If you're considered a possible top 10 pick, pre-injury, I think it's safe to call him elite myself.
  11. Seriously though, TT, where would you honestly pinpoint his value?
  12. Cease means nothing here because of TJS, correct?
  13. Schwarber-17 Sands-53 Stinnett-67 Cease-77(possible top 10 pre-injury) Norwood-79 Zagunis-111 Peters-112(unlikely to sign ?) Steele-122 Gilliam-132(unlikely to sign) Martarano-149(last year) Adams-154(? Sign) Cantu-161(? Sign) Brink-164 Deppermann-192(? Sign) Bass-165 by MLB(unlikely sign ?) Nothing close to lumping all these guys in as the equivalent of the actual 200 number. 5 of top 79 8 of top 122 14 of top 165(counting Bass) I think it's pretty excellent personally. Especially if we get 11-12 of the group, which is certainly possible.
  14. I could definitely see them surprising with a long term addition, along with trading off other pieces. I figure we'll trade an IFA spot or 2 as well this year.
  15. We know Shark and Hammel are the two main pieces that'll be talked about, but who else could go? And could anyone else bring a good return?(that's realistic to be dealt) Position Players- Valbuena, Barney, Schierholtz Don't see anyone else being a realistic target. Barney surely brings nothing back. If Schierholtz has a good June/July, he could still net us something decent. Especially with the lack of bats being available supposedly. Valbuena is a true wild card for me. I have no clue what he'd bring back. But it'd better be something very, very solid. He's just a damn good player. Is it unreasonable to think he'd bring back a top 100 guy? Hell, is it enough? I just have no idea on him. The Rotation- Not counting Shark and Hammel, I guess a team could come in and take Edwin's contract off our books, without giving us much of a return. Very doubtful though, in my opinion. Wood? Wrong time to deal him, he's more valuable to us than other teams most likely. Arrieta is going no where either. The Pen- Veras made his exit. I kind of suspect Villanueva to follow suit, doubt he's tradable. Russell and/or Wright? I could see one dealt, in fact I expect it. The return? Not awe inspiring obviously, but maybe a couple of top 30 system types? Could Parker come up and pitch decently, to get moved? If Morris can be dealt for something of value, I guess it's possible. Only other option is Rondon, who'd bring a very nice return, but I can't see it. Thoughts?
  16. Agree completely. Armchair QB'ing it afterwards though, I'd have rather taken Reid-Foley in the 2nd(signed for 1.128) and if we missed on Stinnett, just take Brink much earlier. Very, very likely we could have still signed our entire 1st 10 rounds with Reid-Foley and Brink instead of Stinnett and Thorpe.....
  17. This draft was considered weak at the top, but very deep. The Cubs got the best college bat, who also has the most power by a wide margin, with their top pick. After watching all 3 of the consensus top guys taken in front of them. They proceeded to draft TWELVE top 200 talents after that. Not counting Martarano, who was the previous year as well. In that group includes a guy(Cease) who may have went in the top 10, if not for injury. The top 10 round guys all appear as if they'll sign. Included is a C and 5 pitchers-all needs. Outside the top 10, only Brink is a college kid, likely the easiest to sign. 2 Catchers-Adams and Cantu are both serious needs, 2 power bats in Gilliam and Peters, and another pitcher, in Deppermann. If you get the entire top 10, Martarano, one of the C and one of the OF outside the top 10, with Brink and Deppermann-it's one hell of a haul. I love the approach this draft.
  18. Vereen getting all 1st team reps is promising.
  19. None of which means I can't be disappointed that "everyone" wasn't wrong about what was happening and Schwarber would actually demand near-full-slot. If Schwarber had demanded full slot, there's little doubt in my mind we would have went with Conforto or whoever else would have allowed us to trade back essentially.
  20. Law had Cease as a top 10 overall talent prior to his injury. I kind of look at it as trading the 4th pick for 15 and 16, or something similar.
  21. Sorry, got pulled away for a few hours. But yeah, I got the Hoyer comments from Sharma and Kaplan being retweeted. It was an interview this morning on Kap and Haugh. TT and David both listed reasons why I don't see us going after a 3B. If we do spend next offseason though, wouldn't it make sense to keep Shark? Surely the NTC issue wouldn't keep it from happening in the end....
  22. We traded back. Something you advocated in this draft. Paying Schwarber MORE makes you happy?
  23. Hopefully. We may be sleeping on what it costs to land Cease. If he can be had for a mill, we're going to have some extra money to spend outside the top 10. I'm wanting one of Cantu or Adams and Deppermann. Others may want Peters or Gilliam. But hopefully this allows for 2 of those type signings.
  24. I don't see them looking at 3B at all. I could see Rasmus or Markakis, plus a Masterson type SP.
  25. Hoyer just said he expects to spend on FA this offseason, the kids that are coming need help.
