  1. NBALegion(180k followers) says we're offering Taj, Snell, 16, and 19 for Love. If they want Jimmy instead of Snell, I'd do it and not think twice.
  2. Theo and Jed are smart enough to know that going from Kottaras to Baker is going to cost you a game over the course of the season. It's worked out great for them, as its cost them more than that already.
  3. No idea. But it'd affect the hell out of mine, if I were choosing. There's no way you can just assume he's healthy or ever will be what he was before. On top of that, his recruiting would surely at least HELP in trying to alleviate these concerns. Oh, that's right, nevermind, he's only going to recruit Hinrich. Noah and Thibs help a ton though, it's up to them to get this done. As unfair as it may be.
  4. I don't remember hearing anything at all on Soler having a true opt out. While he can take arb over his contract, if it takes him past the end of the contract, it just converts to additional arb years, not FA. Cespedes is a true FA as soon as his 4 years are up though.
  5. Baker, at his current rate, TRIPLES that.
  6. Neifi threw up a -2.9 WAR one year, but it wasn't as a Cub. Baker is already at -1.0 in 99 PA. He could legitimately be a -5 WAR guy, if he played everyday.
  7. Wacha and Garcia to the DL with shoulder issues.
  8. Currently at .165/.230/.187. Has thrown out 2 of 30 trying to steal. In complete seriousness, is he the worst Cub player ever?
  9. We can clear cap room to sign him outright. We'd just prefer not to because we can put together a better team. OK, that sounds doable. But getting rid of Taj(unless its for a pick that truly contributes) and waiting on Mirotic....I'm not sure that's enough myself. I'm guessing that means no Afflalo too, right?
  10. We can clear cap room to sign him outright. We'd just prefer not to because we can put together a better team. Not to offer a max though, which in the end, I expect Melo to get. Knicks or a sign and trade. I just doubt he's going to leave money on the table.
  11. This. I hate yo-yoing guys like that. He's finally gotten over his BB (somewhat) and injury problems because he's in the pen. All you are doing by reconverting is begging for them to return. I'll go against this when it comes to Grimm for some reason. I like him in the pen, but I'd give him another shot at starting. Guess I value Ramirez more as a pen arm longterm than Grimm and injury plays into it as well, I guess.
  12. I see no chance of Ramirez starting this year. I'm not sure I ever want him starting again personally.
  13. It's taken forever to get here and the plan is still dumb, but Bryant, Baez, Alcantara, Hendricks, Rivero, Vizcaino is pretty sexy for a "first wave." I think Bryant was worth tanking for.
  14. I'm really hoping him, Hendricks, and Alcantara are all up from the ASB forward this year.
  15. Ah, that's what I was afraid of. Couldn't remember if the MLE can take you over the cap or not. Guess trying to sweeten the hell out of a Boozer for Melo swap is about our only option, short of using Taj and others for the same thing.
  16. Can we use the MLE on Mirotic and still spend that 11+ mill elsewhere in that scenario? I hate to say it, but I'm seriously wondering if that money could be spent better than on Melo and I know it's a superstar driven league and we'd be bypassing one....
  17. I've thought all along the MLE needs to be used for Mirotic. Am I wrong?
  18. Jed Hoyer sure did set up that organization for sustained success. You don't get to blame past FO's for the current state of the team considering your whole thing is that Byrnes should have had enough time to do things his way. Yes, that's the point. Trading Rizzo and keeping Alonso set them back somewhat. I can't see them blaming Hoyer and McLeod too much, especially since McLeod is being mentioned already. Which I hope passes, as I want him here as long as possible.
  19. Josh Byrnes just got fired. Won't shock me if he winds up here with some sort of new title. No idea what it does to the Pads in season plans.
  20. Oh, auto-correct. I read that multiple times wondering if suck arm speed was a term I just wasn't familiar with.
  21. Too many teams are close. There isn't going to be a lot of selling and there is a gigantic shortage of bats available. Bats- Zobrist, Drew, Willingham, Aaron Hill, Seth Smith, Headley, Quintana, 1 of Ethier, Crawford, Kemp Pitching- Price, Kennedy, De La Rosa, McCarthy, Gee, Danks Possible others..... Hitting-Rios, Beltre, Alexei Ramirez, Russell Martin, Utley, Rollins Pitching-Liriano, Cliff Lee, Chacin, Lester, Peavy, 1 of Cueto or Latos , Cashner
  22. Almora not in lineup again.
  23. Oh yeah. Cease is only 269,500 against the cap. If we missed on him, we'd have the 600,000+ we're currently under, plus our 5% money(losing Cease, it's still 400k) and the likely savings on rounds 8-10(another 200-300k probably) We most likely will have 1.5 or so available to spend on Cease and others. Or 1.2 to spend if Cease declines. Honestly, it's a nice position to be in. I personally hope we get Cease, even if its at the full 1.5, but it's easy to find interesting combos of the 11-40 round guys as well.
