  1. If they finish bottom 10, I can definitely see them giving up their 2nd, even their 3rd, with the money we have coming off the books. Based on how our youngsters look the rest of this year.
  2. I think the chances the Orioles trade with us again right now are damn near zero.
  3. Hammel, Strop, Russell, Barney,Villanueva, and Schierholtz. Barney may be a DFA. Schierholtz needs to get hot, but if he does, I think he'll find a new home. Villanueva is a definite to me. Russell's veteranness gets him moved. Strop gets moved due to the amount of hard throwers we have. Hammel is the only guy we move that may get us a guy that fits in our top 10 prospects. Still don't see us trading Shark. Arrieta's emergence just hammers home to me why Shark needs to be kept. I guess we'll see soon though. If Hammel IS dealt in the next 10 days to two weeks, then I'd guess Shark is dealt at the end of the month. But if he's not, I don't see us cluttering the market with 2 guys out there. We'll follow last years model or else we'll just deal one. Valbuena is the guy I go back and forth on whether we'll deal him or not. I can see teams making us think real hard on him. I also expect us to deal an IFA slot or 2 on Wednesday and think Christian Villanueva is moved sometime in the next month as well.
  4. He seriously starts every other game No [expletive]. It seems that way for sure.
  5. God, please bring him up for September.
  6. Sounds like Brett has his excuse already written for him In fairness, Castillo may or may not be a true starting OFer. I want him and I'm not buying he has THAT much more value just because a contender may be able to use him this year. There's plenty of years other than the first one to take into account.
  7. Seriously, things are looking pretty good for next year.
  8. http://js.mlblogs.com/2014/06/30/cuban-inf-prospect-yoan-moncada-has-left-the-island/ Another kid coming over. No chance on him, assuming he's cleared at any point during this upcoming signing period.
  9. Yeah, he should wind up with better opportunities than the Padres.
  10. The Cubs FO expected that to be the case, correct? Hence why they overspent last year? That's one of the reasons they gave but I was curious if they really believed that or just started saying that when they couldn't trade for enough pool space to cover their overspending. And even if they believe that last summer, it's nice to see that remains true a year later. I still wonder how many guys we targeted went elsewhere because they weren't sure we'd go THAT far over.
  11. If that's my honest answer, I don't put myself in a position to where I have to answer anything prior to FA.
  12. What a [expletive] idiot. I'm sure the FO loves Rose making those comments the day before FA starts. That'll give Melo all the confidence in the world. Seriously, what a [expletive] moron.
  13. Yeah, it's barren. CJ, PJ, and Soler need to get back quick. Personally, I'm high on Black, but there needs to be more there.
  14. Bosh is looking for 15-16 per and Lebron is wanting a max.
  15. Jason Parks says no. A 1.700 OPS is pretty typical for a college bat in A ball. https://twitter.com/professorparks/status/483072074932424704 I'm new to twitter. And when I mean new I mean I created some stupid profile 2 weeks ago. But I tweeted for the first time tonight and that tweet was to Jason Parks relaying this same info. He re-tweeted (Daniel Wiseman, wisemand21) and I'm not sure if he's admitting his error or mocking me or what... Unfortunately, he's mocking you. Because evidently all college guys do this and we're stupid for not knowing it. my reply Perfect.
  16. "fairly common" isn't a word I want attached to our recent No. 6 overall pick. Being not good enough for the majors is fairly common. It's kinda important that out best prospects be fairly uncommon. Won't argue I certainly expected more at this point in the season, but he's certainly got time to turn it around and is showing signs of doing it.

  18. .... I know I shouldn't read too much into these stats at low levels for a college bat who just finished his college season, buuut, those are some pretty good stats ….. Schwarber is 13 months older than Almora. Funny how Schwarber is perceived as so old that whatever good he does is to be expected and nothing to be excited about; while Almora is considered to be so young that whatever struggles he has are only to be expected and nothing to be worried about. While I agree that what Schwarber is doing is ridiculous and deserves massive credit, I disagree with this exact analogy. Schwarber is a year older and a level under. Being 20 and struggling in High A (not to mention he's showing signs of life) is fairly common. If he were a year older struggling, I'd be worried. As it is, I'm honestly not.
  19. Seriously, I get the fact that 1st round college hitters should be doing well in A ball immediately. But there's a difference between doing well and putting up video game numbers.
  20. Daytona, meet Kyle Schwarber. He'll be staying with you for a few weeks.
  21. It definitely is nice to have all these bats coming, when there's a dire shortage across MLB of them. As for Schwarber, [expletive] catching, move the bat on up.
  22. Paniagua definitely needs to be moved up.
  23. I take back my previous post. Put him in everyday and we're golden.
