Obviously, they'd prefer trading for a guy with team control, but if the prices are unrealistic, I doubt they'd take issue with adding a rental...... I keep trying to think of teams that have younger, team controlled guys, that are possible sellers... .... Cleveland with Bauer, Salazar, or Kluber? Atlanta with Miller, Teheran, or Wood? The only teams I think could wind up selling are Boston, Cleveland, White Sox, Oakland, and possibly Seattle in the AL. With Philly, Atlanta, Cincy, Milwaukee, SD, and Colorado in the NL. We've talked about Gray, Buccholz has been mentioned. Ross has been mentioned, as has Shields. If the White Sox would deal with us, Quintana is an option(just don't see it though). I'm guessing Theo checks in on Felix every season, since he's got a well documented love affair with him. I guess the Mets could deal from their excess, Baltimore could deal Gausman.... At any rate, there just aren't many realistic long term options. I'll be a bit surprised if we get a long term guy before the offseason.
