  1. Hendricks was basically a top 20ish guy in the Rangers system at the time we acquired him.
  2. Absolutely. I just wouldn't have bothered answering the initial question that was asked, if that's all I had to give back.
  3. Joe R (Newport News, VA): The player whose absence surprised me the most was Billy McKinney. Has Almora really passed him by? Matt Eddy: Yes, Almora has passed McKinney, according to sources I contacted for this ranking. Scouts weren't bullish on either, but if neither is a frontline masher, then Almora at least has a carrying tool with his glove. You can read everything I have on Almora in his capsule, but regarding McKinney, a lack of notable power or speed or defensive ability or arm really cuts into his ceiling. His track record for hitting is stronger than Almora's, of course, but scouts noticed poor timing at the plate for McKinney this season. He tended to stride too early and hit without his weight behind him, in the words of one source. This is a correctable problem, of course, but on the merits of 2015, I didn't see a compelling argument in his favor.
  4. Roy (Indiana): How Close did Ryan Williams come to making this list? Matt Eddy: You know, I didn't get much information on him for SL coverage, but subsequent research into Tennessee RHP Ryan Williams reveals that he has excellent control. He's definitely on my radar going forward. Thrill us with knowledge.
  5. I'm not sure if I've got an issue with that or not. I lean "yes" though, because I just can't see an OF defense of Schwarber/KB/Soler being anything more than bad, just ahead of pitiful. Still, I guess that'd clear 3B for Javy and leave Starlin at 2B, which I'd have no issue with. It'd also give us plenty of money to spend on pitching, even if also takes away potential trade chips in Javy and Starlin.
  6. Hmm, I added 10 to the SP's somehow. Can't add. Now I've got 36.15 for position guys.(6) 40.9 for SP's(4) 16.8 for 5 bullpen guys, 13.2 for Jackson and Concepcion. That's 107.05, plus 500k for 10 more pre arbs, for 112.05. That's much better.
  7. If those figures wind up correct, to piece together a 25 man roster of controllable guys will put us around 121 million. Assuming we can get something decent for Cogs, our best option may be to trade him, Wood, and Castro. That'd save 17.3 off that figure and give us some cheap options that'll help allow for a big FA guy.
  8. It still pisses me off so much Hendry kept [expletive] McNutt over Archer.
  9. I would have easily taken Soler at 4.8 over the combo of Schwarber/Russell, if I were asked. Worked out fine though.
  10. Same here.
  11. Arrieta 7.3 Bryant 6.5 Rizzo 5.5 Lester 5.0 Hendricks 3.4 Coghlan 3.3 Fowler 3.2 Russell 2.9 Hammel 2.4 Montero 2.0 Schwarber 1.9 Rondon 1.6 Wood 1.3 Strop 1.1 Castro .8 Denorfia .8 Grimm .6 Baez .5 Motte .5 Richard .4 Best surprise? Hendricks or Coghlan? Or is it Jake or KB for being THAT [expletive] good?
  12. Kiley mentioned in his chat today that he bypassed 7 mill, wanting more, changed agents and settled....So maybe they're trying to get the teams that initially offered(then moved on evidently) back into the mix. Very interesting for sure. But the landscape has changed a ton since those offers were likely made. Hopefully he's getting good advice now. Seems like he should have taken 7 for sure.
  13. The Durant threat was flat out bizarre. How he's not fired, at least suspended, for that is.....[expletive], I guess it's just typical ESPN.
  14. He's a pitcher, odds are he'll throw up a weird ass great season at some point.
  15. Sorry, just saw this and laughed my ass off. Until I give it some actual thought, Mojo's post should work fine.
  16. In the end, I love the fact teams fans are starting to hate us.
  17. i like jackson in LF and KB at 3B better because PNC national forest. they have 3 CF out there...it'd be nice if we could have two. I think I like La Stella's bat against Cole over Jackson's enough to where I'll look past any defensive upgrade Jackson brings over KB in LF(if there is one, KB being awesome and all) and KB over La Stella at 3B.....I'm sure Jackson gets in the game by the 5th or 6th anyway.
  18. I think La Stella at 3B and KB in LF is the right call against Cole.
  19. Very punchable face.
  20. Is that true? I thought the only definite was that if you tender the player, you have to offer him at least 80% of last season's salary or 70%(I'm guessing, it may be 75%) of his last 2 seasons?
