  1. Not worthy of starting a thread over, the QO went from 15.3 to 15.8 for this offseason.
  2. No nerves here. Just waiting for a dominant Lester performance and looking forward to seeing misery porn from the douches.
  3. One of the best articles I've ever read. Seriously, what a great article.
  4. Wow. Has Badler seen him in person? I can't remember. He's so much lower on him than anyone else at this point.
  5. He's first on my "want" list too. Followed by Ruiz and Perez(if he winds up eligible). My hope is the Dodgers spend "Moncada" money on Lazariti and they stay off most of the others. With the small amount of teams we're actually competing with for these guys, there's going to be some definite bargains to be had. The Giants don't seem like a team that's going to go on a big spree or anything. They'll get a couple of lower end guys, in my opinion. Especially since it looks like they gave EJM's money to Fox, then couldn't still pay EJM as well.(at his initial price anyway) The Royals don't seem likely to make a big splash either. The Reds worked out EJM recently, so maybe they're thinking about blowing off next year to go after this class late. But again, the fact they wouldn't jump on EJM at THIS price, tells me they're not major factors either. Outside of the Dodgers, the Blue Jays seem like our biggest competition to me. And they may not even be in max penalty range yet, meaning there's a chance they're not competition at all. It's an absolute buyers market. Tons of players and not many true suitors. The key is going to wind up being how many of these guys do actually wind up eligible. But it's pointing towards bunches of them. Which gives us such a great opportunity to coat our system and do it cheaper than it'd cost at pretty much any other time. If there's any negative at all in any of this, it'd be that there's not that much pitching out there. Which is our biggest system need. But talent is talent and seeing us swoop in on EJM like this(no matter the end result upside honestly) tells me we'll be very active in bargain hunting here all year long.
  6. I wouldn't expect it unless he just rakes at every level they send him to. I think this says a lot about what they think of Albert Almora though. It says literally nothing about Almora. We've signed multiple 16 year old SS to 1+ mill deals this offseason too. And we've got as good of a situation there as anyone in baseball. You sign TALENT. Worry what to do with it when the time comes.
  7. Nah, he's not that close. With the varying reports on him, it's hard to peg what level he'll start at. But most seem to think A or High A is a good starting point next year for him.
  8. Dropping from 4 to 28 in the draft is going to change that budget drastically. So yeah, reallocating it towards IFA's is awesome. I like the fact Keith Law seems high on him too. I just want some pitching now. Lazarito, if he costs Moncada type money.....That needs to go into ML payroll....
  9. Haren has pitched well against the Cards. I guess I wouldn't be shocked if he were our 4th this series.
  10. Soler has the highest OPS on the team against Lackey(1.4+). No idea if I'd expect him to get a start though.
  11. The TBS #Cubs #Pirates game drew a 5.5 overnight rating. It was the network's highest rated wild card game ever.
  12. I really hope we do. For no true reason, I feel like he'll give us a reasonable discount to stay here too.
  13. I love David Ross. Certainly a thing I never expected to say back when we signed him.
  14. He's 21, had an extremely small number of minor league AB's past High A Ball, is already hitting for power, and will certainly get better with age. He's got everything anyone should look for in a SS going forward. In no way do you trade that for a SP. Theres not going to be ANY pitcher on earth that Theo's scouts are going to just be "comfortable" with their mechanics. Pitchers get hurt even if they are perfect. Not to mention, between what we have in the minors, Javy, Starlin, and Soler-we'll find a very good pitcher thru trade using some of that group. And we've got money that can be spent in FA to further address that too. Plenty of ways to add pitching without giving up a phenomenal young SS that more than held his own a year earlier than anyone thought he'd have to. And PS- the memes were great
  15. This is EASILY my favorite Cubs team ever. The Cardinals beat down is going to be spectacular.
  16. They'll rename the Cy, the Jake after this season.
  17. @TheNatidude: Matt Williams would have sent the Gatorade jug back out. "He's our cooler."
  18. @piratescooler: What have I done wrong? @piratescooler: Guess Rodriguez is a Powerade guy... @piratescooler: .@seanjrodriguez1 do we have a problem here? @piratescooler: Just out here minding my business and.. http://t.co/ASAJWD6zjd @piratescooler: Don't just stand there and look someone help me up!
  19. @jcruss51: @SeanJRodriguez1 is now my least favorite player in the big leagues can't wait to face him
