  1. My GUESS is he'll get 3 year offers. I'd be shocked if he got 4. I think most projections show him getting 3/50ish. So, does 2/44 or something like that, get him to forego the extra 6 mill? He's not made THAT much money in his career, so every cent may matter more to him.(speculation obviously) My guess is we'd just want him on the books for 2 years and he'd fit great with us in that time. At any rate, we could even throw an option out there that gives him a 3rd year(at less money) if he pitches 150 innings in 2018. At any rate, if we're finding prices too high on Archer, Gray, or whoever, this seems like a great option.
  2. Um, in what world are Almora and Edwards equal to Kiermaier and Colome? But yeah, that's one of the.worst trade proposals I've ever seen. In the world of future value and not being arbitration eligible. Edwards and Colome? Sure, I can see that. But, I'm an Almora fan. And in no way, shape, or form do I think he's giving us 13 WAR in any 3 year period, like Kiermaier just has done. They'd want, rightfully so, much more than Almora for him.
  3. I've been thinking Hill makes a lot of sense recently. I really doubt we're spending big on a closer and I'm really starting to doubt we spend on Dex either. But the WS revenue, even if we planned on not spending much this off season, could conceivably help bring Hill in on a 2/44 or whatever type of deal it'd take for him to skip the 3rd year.
  4. [tweet] [/tweet] And wow, not too many straight swaps of minor leaguers......Jackson has lost some luster and the Braves need hitting prospects, so it makes sense. Candelario makes soooo much sense for them.
  5. Obviously, before the meetings(if we even have them) but the Marlins sign Volquez to 2/22. This is a relatively large contract for them, so I guess they're acting as if they're contending this year.....
  6. I think it's more like 43-45? IIRC we projected for something like 93 from ZiPS last year, if I have time later I'll try to track it down. Doesn't change the point though, *projecting* for 90 wins is pretty crazy, projecting for several wins past that is definitely absurd. You may be right. I think Kyle is the guy who knew this stuff last off season. But yeah, either way, its awesome.
  7. Replacement wins is 48, right? So we're sitting at a 99 win team BEFORE we even make a move? LMFAO. Seriously, that's absurd. And while the offense doesn't appear to have any real feasible upgrades, the pitching does. Adding an Archer(if possible to do without Schwarber or Javy) adds 3 wins. I figure we WILL find a way to add at least 2 wins to the pen. Slim shot at 3. So, worst case is we head into 2017 projected at 101 wins. Best case looks to be 105. Insane.
  8. If Joe Morgan and him were in an argument, I'd be hoping Morgan would punch him right in the horsefeathers.
  9. yes plz Was just coming to post that. Sign me the horsefeathers up 7 days a week there. Kiermaier and Colome are basically equal to Almora/Edwards, so you're essentially getting Archer for Happ and Soler. Um, in what world are Almora and Edwards equal to Kiermaier and Colome? But yeah, that's one of the.worst trade proposals I've ever seen.
  10. I doubt it. If we dealt for him, I think it'd be strictly for the pen. I do think he's an excellent candidate to be a multiple inning guy though.
  11. I really don't see us paying the money it'd take for Chapman, Jansen, or even Melancon..... I figure Holland is our highest priority closer via FA, assuming they liked his showcase anyway. If not, then I'd suspect it'll be via trade anyway, as far as filling up the pen..... Guys I suspect we've got a chance on thru trade..... Alex Wilson and Justin Wilson-Detroit(Alex is a Theo guy) Alex Colome, Brad Boxberger, Enny Romero-TB Kyle Barraclough-Miami Wade Davis and Kelvin Herrera-KC David Robertson-White Sox(I could see them dealing HIM to us, to get out from underneath the contract-but it'd still cost us something remotely useful) Oakland-Sean Doolittle, John Axford, Ryan Dull, Liam Hendriks Arizona-Randall Delgado, Andrew Chafin Minnesota-Taylor Rogers Colorado-Jake McGee(I think they're buying, but could see them trying to move him because he struggled last year) Philadelphia-Hector Neris San Diego-Brad Hand Obviously, not all these guys are closers(or even set up guys necessarily). But its from this group that I'd expect one or two additions from. Some as secondary pieces in trades, others as the primary target.
  12. They've been rumored to be taking offers on Gonzalez. I seriously doubt they'd trade pitching(or anything really) that potentially makes us better. They're hunting us, making us potentially better just doesn't seem remotely likely. And yeah, they've definitely got arms, but they're rumored in on Sale or Archer. So their excess would get eaten up with a trade for one of those guys.
  13. [tweet] [/tweet] I mean, its Ralph. But still.....If an Archer package can begin with Soler and Happ? I wouldn't give a flying horsefeathers as to what pitching prospects we'd need to include.....
  14. https://twitter.com/_MarcusD2_/status/802708093205364736 Slappin' your own ass is flat out winning GIFs.
  15. Levine evidently mentioned today that we're interested in Blackmon again. Rockies appear to be trying to win though, so I wouldn't figure he's an option until mid season. Travis Jankowski also got mentioned. In a platoon with Almora, I guess he'd be decent. With the idea he moves into a 4th OF role in 2018. Much rather just keep Dex and use Almora as trade bait though.
  16. I keep looking thru FA C's, in order to attempt to Montero to Atlanta or Tampa. But I can't find anything that allows for us to do it. I'd figure we're kind of looking for Lester's caddy. But a guy that can play more than that, in case Willy takes an unexpected step backwards or gets injured...... So, I'm thinking Miggy stays put. We wouldn't trade for a C, it'd be a stupid use of assets, considering real needs we have. But is there a FA I'm missing? AJ Ellis is the closest thing I can see as a possibility. And that's not worth moving Miggy for a Tyrell Jenkins type, at best.....
  17. That breakdown is much easier to respond to than mine lol. I'd add a middle relief type guy as a bare minimum and a second elite bullpen addition as an upgraded option. And Raw, your breakdown of SP reinforces the need. I think you changed my mind to we will definitely add more than NRI's there. They won't get too cute there.
  18. What's our truly legitimate checklist? Dex is obviously a possibility, but I'm not reading much that makes him appear as a likely one either. Seems much more likely we're looking for a lefty vet that can platoon with Almora. A starting pitcher is on the agenda, but it doesn't seem like a huge priority, with a solid group currently. Obviously, they'll add depth of some sort. But I can see us not trading for a rotation piece until midseason, if the prices are ridiculous. Yeah, a TOR trade is possible. My guess is other teams are more desperate and we make a trade for a post hype type. Bullpen? We'll add arms. But I'd say there's a non zero chance our closer is already on the roster too. It really doesn't sound like Chapman or Jansen are realistic. But, there's surely a better chance of adding one of them(or Melancon) than there is of Rondon, Strop, or Edwards closing, right? We'll definitely add a lefty, but I'm not even sure whether it is for sure its a guaranteed contract. If we add an actual closer, I could see us trying to manufacture a lefty out of a few NRI, Zastryzny, Leathersich, Rosscup, etc. I'm sure we'll add at least some depth too for RHRP.....Again, no idea on the quality. Depends on the closer situation, on some level. At any rate, I definitely see us adding at least ONE impact bullpen arm. Possibly two, if we swing a trade...... Seeing Miggy in a few rumors, I guess its plausible his comments after the Series made him expendable? Not to mention, I could see us searching for a more comparable battery mate for Lester? Montero's arm takes him out of that equation. Sure, Willy could be Lester's guy, but who knows? At any rate, a trade of Miggy and a backup C signing is a possibility...... Here's the way I THINK the FO appears to be prioritizing things, based on the articles being put out..... 1. Impact bullpen arm, likely thru trade 2. Lefty platoon vet CF, trade or FA 3. Starting P depth thru trade 4. Another impact bullpen arm, thru FA 5. Bringing back Dex 6. Lefty bullpen arm 7. Backup C 8. More bullpen depth(NRI's) 9. TOR SP thru trade 10. SP depth thru FA(NRI's)
  19. Cruds, Carps, or Craps? Carbs or Carls works too.
  20. I'm definitely interested in buying low on Miller, Bradley, or Corbin.
  21. Trades for us that I think are fairly realistic...... Candelario for Brett Gardner Happ, Soler, DelaCruz, and Montero(eating most of the money) for Odorizzi and Colome
  22. Fairly certain he asked if he was getting a ring, so we released him.
  23. Yeah, you're right. I just hate throwing the rookie out there, no matter how often its done now.
