  1. DP Side note though, I'm definitely interested in how Moreno and Tyson Miller do in full season ball.
  2. According to MLBPIPELINE, he's on the SB DL.
  3. [tweet] [/tweet] Greatest call ever?
  4. So, a 10 spot in the 1st? Too light? Do we get extra tenths of runs this year for our dong length? If not, I'm afraid a bit of apathy may set in and we lose interest by the 5th.....Mercy rule? Surely, that ones been approved for us, right? I feel as if Theo needs to send out an apology to MLB for the psychological damage the group is going to do to other teams. Divorce rate amongst players at an all time high, wives leaving their supposed baseball men, after realizing they married the lesser talented players......Kids ashamed their dads aren't good enough to play for the Cubs..... We need to take heed, baseball is now only fun for us. horsefeathers it. I doubt watching teams in the fetal position all year gets old. Theo must have planned for that too.
  5. Here's a list of visits the Bears have had to this point. Extremely interesting group, considering they usually draft multiple guys from who they've visited with..... QB- Trubisky, Mahomes, Kizer, Kaaya, Peterman, Antonio Pipkin RB- I'tavius Mathers, Elijah McGuire, Jamaal Williams WR- Mike Williams, Austin Carr, Carlos Henderson TE- Howard, Evan Engram DL- Garrett, Allen, Chris Wormley, Ryan Glasgow LB- Foster CB- Ezra Robinson S- John Johnson, Nate Gerry What can we take from this? Not a lot, yet. Since they still have another 7 visits to go(or that are unreported). But, we can see a few things obviously...... They're taking a QB. But this list tells me its not at 3. A trade down from 3 and I'd say its possible. Or literally ANYWHERE after that. Pipkin may be a 7th round type or UDFA even. Kaaya or Peterman are 3rd round types, at best. Meeting with Howard and Williams is VERY interesting, because it shows they're looking at trading down. Maybe even outside the top 10? Seeing the meeting with Engram too.....Makes me think a TE on day 1 or 2 seems like a decent bet. The 3 RB's are all late round types or UDFA's. I'm GUESSING we'll have a few more CB meetings? Robinson is a late rounder and most things seem to indicate we're looking at one earlier than that. Safety? The lack of meetings with Adams or Hooker seems important to me. Same with Solomon Thomas, for that matter. But, they can still happen, I guess. At any rate, Johnson seems like a late 2nd day or early 3rd day guy. Gerry isn't on that level. No OT's? Seems like an indicator to me. Not happy about that personally.
  6. The Broncos need an Offensive Tackle in the worst way. Right now, they've got Menelik Watson and Donald Stephenson. That's awful. Elway is on record saying he's going to upgrade that. Whether its Robinson, Ramczyck, or Bolles, I'd expect them to take one from that group.
  7. Great article from Mooney. Theo is just the horsefeathering man. I think we may have actually underestimated his actual awesomeness back when we got him.
  8. Why do I think Albertos is a lefty? Am i thinking of someone else? No idea why you'd think he was. But, maybe you're confusing him with Brailyn Marquez? The highest rated lefty in that IFA class, that we gave a 600ish thousand bonus to....
  9. I'll throw RB or DB help out as Tampa's biggest needs. No Safety worth taking here, decent amount of CB's in this general value range, but with this board, I think they'd go with McCaffery.
  10. i would be ecstatic to see that happen but there's basically no reason to believe that do i think he can? sure, he's insanely gifted. do i expect it? far from it. i'd say it's something like 80ish% he more or less is what he is...great defensive player who will be reasonably productive if his matchups are chosen carefully and will hit you a few bombs. and that's a great success story compared to what he could've ended up being as of 2 years ago. I'd honestly put it at 20% that this is what he winds up being. He's far from a finished product and is taking the longer path towards becoming one, just as some of the prospect evaluators suggested. Not only am I not worried this is all he'll be(still very good) but I'm very confident he winds up much better. And I think we'll leave him alone too. Learned not to horsefeathers with guys too much, after Starlin. He's going to do it unconventionally, just as he's done everything so far.
  11. God, I am going to be so happy watching Javy put up an .800+ OPS this season and shut this stupid talk up.
  12. I think its much more likely they're just trying to enhance his trade value personally. Short of an injury that knocks someone out for a while, the most we'll see of Happ this year is him coming up and being the "9th" guy, while Javy takes a regular spot at a position. And yeah, there's value that way, he'd still play plenty. But, unless Zobrist fades quick, my guess is Happ is just trade bait. Unless Heyward sucks again and winds up on the bench.
  13. Fournette also went to Jacksonville in this mock at #4. I'd have taken him for Carolina at #8 otherwise. There's rumors of Carolina trying to move up to 2. No idea if they'd take Fournette there or not, but Rivera said today there's no spot too high to take a RB. No idea why they'd jump the Bears, unless there's other teams also after Fournette and multiple teams are trying to move up. Again, just a rumor, no idea if RB is what they'd want in a move up. For the Bears sake, I'd love to trade out of 3(but stay in the top 10). I do think Fournette is probably the player a team may be enticed to move up for in this draft.
  14. Bump for Gato, who's up for Indy.....
  15. Good guess on Asher. The O's got him for a PTBNL today. Wouldn't have minded that at all, assuming the PTBNL isn't going to be much, since the O's have a horrific system.
  16. [tweet] [/tweet] Schwarber walks into the draft room.... "Let's horsefeathering go. Get some horsefeathering players! Let's do this horsefeathers!" Walks out of the room. Seriously. This man is awesome.
  17. Brett brought up trade return possibilities on Szczur and mentioned a low level minor leaguer or perhaps a comp pick. Draft slot money is valuable, so any teams not attempting to contend would be idiots to send away money for Szczur most likely. The 3 teams listed below are trying to contend though and I could see any of them parting with that pick and some semblance of an upside type for an upgrade to their bench. Pick 68, 838,100-Arizona Pick 70, 797,400-Colorado Pick 74, 742,300-Baltimore Is Beane above doing this? I honestly doubt he is. But, we'd likely need to send more than just Szczur to get that pick. Maybe add in a Galindo and Steele? Not necessarily those guys in particular. But, Szczur and 2 guys in our 20-30 range. Maybe could entice Billy to spread his risk around.... Miami.....I've advocated trying to get this pick before. This may be a chance. They've sold of picks before. They're attempting to contend. Seems too much to give for Szczur, but nothing they do should shock anyone either. Pick 33, 1.936,500-Oakland Pick 36, 1,798,700-Miami At any rate, if he does get dealt, I'd be surprised if one of those picks isn't involved.
  18. with 5 ml starter quality infielders, there's just not that many ab's to go around. Think about scenarios when LaStella would have played on this team. Not many. How often are you going to sit two of Russell, Bryant, Zobrist and Baez? That's true. However, when would Szczur ever get into the lineup? As a defensive replacement for Schwarber in a game where Jay has been lifted for a PH is about the only scenario I can think of considering the other options available. Can Seal Boy play SS? No, he can't. But, being left handed does give him an advantage over Szczur. As does the fact he just a better hitter. Neither is going to get many starts, probably not more than pinch hitting appearances. Chesny Young Ian Happ Jeimer Candelario Mark Zagunis John Andreoli Realistically, both are probably goners after this season anyway, at the latest. Even if you deal Happ, between Young, Zagunis, and Candelario.....You're probably upgrading from Szczur and Seal Boy.
  19. You're right. Rosen, Darnold, Jackson, Allen- they COULD regress and /or not turn pro. But that's a HUGE group to start with and Rosen/Darnold have a different feel than your typical 1st round hype guy to me anyway. They seem like special talents to me. But, guys come out of nowhere and become serious prospects too. Where were Trubisky or Mahomes at in the preseason? There's likely to be additions to the starting group for 2018.....Watson and Kizer did hold their stock, for the most part. So, some of these 2018 guys should be expected to, as well. Mason Randolph has tools. Jake Browning probably IS a 1st rounder. Francois at FSU could jump into this discussion. Falk is likely an early round guy. Quinton Flowers isn't my cup of tea, but some like him. McSorley and Speight are interesting. There's probably more too. If it were just THAT group, you'd get the "next years class is better" crap out of some. Without even mentioning the top 4 guys. This isn't just an "every year, they say that" type of deal. If you look at the options, it truly does look much, much better. Past years aren't truly compared to 2004, this one has an actual shot. Its got the upper end talent and the depth too. I'll gladly own it if I'm wrong. But, I hope we wait on our 1st round QB. I think its just better for us. Give me a late round guy this year(Kelly, since he can rehab his image a bit and become a commodity of some value, before we trade him for more than the 5-7th rounder we gave up). See what Glennon can do.....(you almost HAVE to think he's going to be better than what we're all expecting) If Glennon shits the bed and we're top 5 next year, then jump at one. Plus, again, I hate taking a guy this year early and have him switch systems in year 2.
  20. I don't understand why this keeps being a point of emphasis for you guys. It makes no sense to me. You don't like the QB class, but you acknowledge the need to take one. But you are advocating taking what would likely be the 3rd or 4th QB off the board w/ a trade down or waiting a round? That makes no sense. If you can't separate the QBs enough to figure out which one is the best, you don't just take whatever one is left when other teams pick their guy. You actually have to figure out which one is the best and take him. That's how you end up with Rex Grossman and Cade McNown. Actually, I'm perfectly fine taking one in 4-7. And its entirely possible that we either 1) value them all closely or 2) don't like any of them. If you value them all closely and think you are forced to take one early this year, adding another potential impact player with a second round pick IS worth a lot, especially when its not even definite that the guy you have ranked 1st will even be off the board when you pick. You sound like Kyle back when he was disappointed we didn't give Schwarber full slot value in the draft. Sometimes you can get your guy AND get more with it too. Plus, a trade down doesn't even guarantee that a QB is off the board yet. And anyway, if San Fran takes a QB at 2, then YOU may not be getting your top guy even if you stay at 3. You still taking a QB then, with your thoughts? I hope we wait until 2018.
  21. He lost a hell of a lot more than the baseball equivalent of 95. If he's trying to win, we're really in trouble. And I swear I'd be more comfortable with the Bears if they gave Pace's job to Theo and he GM'd football while taking his morning poop and walk home from his real job. Yeah, that's kind of my point. Pace tried to field an 8 or 9 win team while building for more and failed miserably. And remember, his resume is built on pro scouting (free agency), not college scouting and drafts. horsefeathers, you're talking me into wanting him gone now.
  22. The closer to the draft we get, the more these QB's stock appears to be moving upward. Smoke or real? I guess we'll find out soon enough, but there was even a rumor Webb could go late 1st yesterday.... Now, that's probably BS.....But, the good news is that it maybe puts a trade down more into play. I'd feel much better about a QB in the 1st, if we added a 2nd or something to go with him. Especially since I legitimately don't have a feel yet for the order of how the QB's get drafted this year.
  23. I didn't say Pace is trying to be Theo (football people almost across the board think everybody involved in baseball are pu$$!&$). I said maybe the McCaskeys think he's a Theo, and because of that they are willing to lose in the short-term and give him time. Pace doesn't want to lose 95 games and draft in the top 3. He wants to win games while he's building but what he most wants to do is take the BPA in as many drafts as possible, while letting older players go elsewhere. He lost a hell of a lot more than the baseball equivalent of 95. If he's trying to win, we're really in trouble. And I swear I'd be more comfortable with the Bears if they gave Pace's job to Theo and he GM'd football while taking his morning poop and walk home from his real job.
