  1. And its not Dale. Gregg really has sucked this year. I can't wait for this season to be over.
  2. Well, it was a gapper. Between the catcher and 3rd.
  3. I think Miles sees about 1 pitch per AB. And not very well, I might add.
  4. Now, if Dero can stay true to Cubbie Nation.....................
  5. 2:44pm: MLB.com's Ken Gurnick reports that the Dodgers acquired George Sherrill for Josh Bell and righty Steve Johnson. 2:40pm: Yahoo's Gordon Edes says the Orioles are "on the verge of trading Sherrill to the Dodgers for Scott Elbert and Josh Bell." Sherrill, 32, is under team control through 2011. He has a 2.40 ERA with 20 saves in 41.3 innings this year. Fantasy leaguers, time to pick up Jim Johnson.
  6. 9:15pm: Things just got really interesting. This rumor may be growing legs. From the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel's Tom Haudricourt: "I know for a fact that the Brewers have been discussing Washburn, even though he is a free agent after the season. Because Washburn is a Wisconsin native, maybe the Brewers think they could convince him to stay with another contract after this year." Haudricourt notes the M's would probably ask for a shortstop in return, naming J.J. Hardy and Alcides Escobar as possible trade chips. Of course, that's a pretty steep price to pay. "The Brewers probably would want more than Washburn in return for either shortstop," Haudricourt adds, "considering his pending free agent status."
  7. Red Sox & Cards Swap Lugo & Duncan By Ben Nicholson-Smith [July 22 at 4:31pm CST] Bernie Miklasz of the St. Louis Post Dispatch reports that the Cardinals will trade Chris Duncan to the Red Sox for Julio Lugo. The deal was first reported by Viva El Birdos.
  8. The Cubs had 4 LOB and scored 1 run in 13 innings. Wow.
  9. Who's left? Samardzija is all I can think of. Is Stevens still here?
  10. Is anyone else watching Comcast right now? It looks like Poreda was at the Soto green leaf party.......and is still there. :-))
  11. I wonder what Hendry is thinking right about now.
  12. Cardinals Acquire Mark DeRosa According to the MLB.com Twitter, the Cardinals have acquired Mark DeRosa from the Indians for RP Chris Perez and a player to be named later. Go figure. This really really sucks!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
  13. The Cubs have considered trying to reacquire Mark DeRosa. They've also done some preliminary searching for a bat, but they're not sure where they'd play a new hitter so that gives the versatile DeRosa extra appeal. http://sports.espn.go.com/mlb/columns/story?columnist=stark_jayson&page=rumblings090625&campaign=rss&source=MLBHeadlines
  14. Dennis Culloton, who represents Ricketts, said Wednesday that media reports suggesting otherwise are untrue. He said negotiations are continuing and "moving along very positively." Weitman says the Tribune is still in talks with the Ricketts family "with an eye toward reaching a definitive agreement." http://sports.espn.go.com/mlb/news/story?id=4267790&campaign=rss&source=MLBHeadlines
  15. Any chance at all that 1 of those 3 are still there at 31?
  16. La Russa: Cards Seek Big Bat By Eddie Schmid [June 4 at 8:44pm CST] According to Matthew Leach at MLB.com, Tony La Russa longs for a big bat to protect Albert Pujols. Leach notes that La Russa "spoke like a man who has expectations, rather than hopes." The Cardinals have been linked to Mark DeRosa recently, though La Russa seems to indicate he wants something greater. He directly refers to the past Matt Holliday discussions, and Leach notes Holliday as an "intriguing name" as he has been open to a possible trade away from Oakland. La Russa indicated that the club has some financial flexibility, but wants to avoid anything "unreasonable." http://www.mlbtraderumors.com/ It appears the Cards want another bat, not pitching.
