  1. I don't get why so many people fail to recognize this fact. When you go in that place it totally gives you the feel of one of those 70's monstrocities. To me it's no better than Shea with more flags. And both of those stadiums have a ridiculous amount of unnecessary and ill-placed bars running between seats. Terrible place to sit and watch a game. You're right. The only "history" I associate with Yankee Stadium is the 70's era Reggie Jackson/Billy Martin teams. I've never sat in the box seats at either place but have never liked the railings. I hope the new places don't have them. http://www.ballparks.com/baseball/american/nyybpk.htm The new stadium is nearly an exact copy of the old one. I dont even know why they need a new one anyhow. I really wonder what New York could do with $220 million they're giving. Wow, that's really stupid.
  2. Unlike his car, Pierre starts every day. They both try very hard, but still aren't good.
  3. Vance, I am going to have to postpone my Cubs-voting until these bums start playing. Even Barrett, Cedeno, and Murton are starting to irritate me. It's personally immoral for me to vote these guys in as the best in the league.
  4. I thought this thread was going to be about Dwayne Wade's new Converse shoes, but instead its about the Cubs. How frustrating.
  5. That's pretty ridiculous. That being said, it's probably Dusty's fault.
  6. My second loss ever at Wrigley Field today. I don't know if they're quitting, but as was said, it's just really irritating to see the first two hitters in the inning get outs on 2-3 total pitches, and then see the thirs hitter try and take a few and end up in an 0-1, 0-2 hole right off. I honestly don't know how it got THIS bad...
  7. Ok, this mini-article just kept getting further and further out of control: -Baker is good -Wood is one of our two best pitchers -Trade Prior immediately for Cano -The Cubs don't have a second baseman (or rather, "desperately need" one) I know that oftentimes, we (myself included) overreact to the stupidity of some of these commentators, but for once, I am simply speechless. Who hires these guys? Can you imagine if Kruk ended up as a manager or GM? Good God!
  8. Absolutely nasty ...and that's one Yankee I actually like!
  9. Grinderball Rule #39: If a player sucks but you want to somehow say they're good, call them a "grinder"
  10. That's a pretty funny article
  11. Who do you guys think would be a suitable platoon partner for Jones? vs. Left-handed Pitcher .500 .600 .400 vs Right-handed Pitcher .313 .362 .241 Murton. Suck it up and get Abreu. Easier said than done
  12. Wow - I didn't realize.... Who do you guys think would be a suitable platoon partner for Jones? Restovich? Do we trade for one?
  13. I wouldn't mind seeing Z through one right at his earhole, strike him out, and they show him up in the biggest dance extravaganza ever seen on a ML pitching mound. Ahh, but then would Cards fans then defend Bonds' bat-throw after he homers in his next at-bat? :D
  14. I also said 4-6, and I think you meant "they're". I'm a Grammar Nazi.
  15. I gave them a C, but yeah, it probably is incomplete. They did need a Safety anyway, and they picked up a punt returner. Now the question remains: will they trade for a TE?
  16. Eastern Seaboard Promotion Network
  17. Yeah, same thing at NU. I love it.
  18. Hah, looked white to me.
  19. ESPN.com has a Gammons article on it's front page right now. According to its panel, the greatest is by far, Roger Clemens. Maddux is 5th, behind Seaver, Koufax, and Gibson. The article can be found here However, the most irritating part of it for me is that they have sketches of the top 5 on the front page of the site, and Maddux is wearing a home pinstripes uniform with a red-billed away cap. Shouldn't someone have caught that? ...maybe I'm just lame.
  20. It's gonna be a busy quarter, but put me down for 25/day.
  21. Some of these are all-out bad, but hindsight is 20/20.
  22. I was really impressed by the Bulls today. Mostly their lack of (sloppy) turnovers. I think that's really the only thing that holds them back.
  23. Sammy used to wear one. Also, several college football players used to wear these... I don't know how prevalent they are anymore. Although, that photo is pretty funny
