  1. Don't give up Goony, didn't you see Little Big League?
  2. Yeah, definitely a substantial offensive boost vs. LHP. We needed it a lot sooner though. Much, much sooner. And just because he's played in the OF before doesn't really mean he "can". He's not good defensively. I'm sure his production if platooned with JJ would make up for his subpar defense. Nevin has about a 225 point better OPS than Jones*. We could actually have solid production in right. *Edit: vs LHP this season
  3. Anyone have an idea who the "different player" might be? No indication of who the Cubs might be seeking. The Dodgers do have a deep farm system fwiw. am guessing pierre. I'm guessing a lineup with Lofton, Furcal and Pierre would be overkill 3 Words: Speed never slumps
  4. Hail ANTS!
  5. Yeah, like I said, it comes to like $7500 per pitch. Seems like a waste... is he really worth that much?
  6. The Astros' GM and Clemens' agent are completely denying this signing: Link Don't want it to be official until the press conference, or was newsday wrong?
  7. $3.5 million/month, lets say there are 27 or so games played in a month, he pitches 5 of those games, throws 95 pitches each start... is my math right? He's going to be making almost $7400 per pitch?
  8. Yes. Basically, Hendry is delaying the decision of who to take off of the 40man that was created when he added Womak until Prior is ready to come back. I'm hoping he's working on a trade or two. As bad as the team is that Hendry has assembled, he's generally been pretty good at making trades (as long as the trading partner isn't Florida...) Well, IMO the only trade that can salvage this season would involve a certain Florida player. Joe Borchard is not the answer. Josh Willingham would actually not look bad right now. He can play C while Barrett is out, and then we can platoon him in left, where I'm pretty sure he can play.
  9. You make $9 Million per year. You asked for the attention in playing ball. You know more than just about anyone else what living like this is like because of your father. I have no sympathy for you. Just shut up, and stop trying to make BB look good. Are you really trying to get run from your adopted hometown? Keep talking like this, and your father may not even be able to save you. Baseball is a clubhouse...when you know some people personally, you make ties and strong friendships. Its only natural he tries to defend his friend. Its not like he's going out of his way, he gets swarmed by reporters all the time. I like Ken Griffey. But I don't like Barry. "Is this what you sportswriters wanted? [hugs son] This might be it for me"
  10. I wonder how everyone here would feel about Cuban's tendency to overpay awful players (Dampier and Bradley to name a few). Perhaps it wouldn't matter because the payroll would be so high. In any case, I don't think it could be any worse that what we have now!
  11. There is. it's called the other owners. Right, I meant someone who didn't have a vested interest in its own money making. Owners making decisions based on how they think a new owner will affect their bottom line is skewed reasoning to my mind Surely there are other billionaire owners, right? Or did you mean they wouldn't want him as an owner because he's already well known as a competitor and "winner"?
  12. That's really all you needed. Well, those pathetic thread titles contributed to what I was attempting to convey.
  13. Have any of you ever looked at the ESPN soccer message boards? They're so ridiculous. They're all USA LOSES HAHAHAHA MEXICO PLEASE BEAT IRAN AMERICANS ARE DUMB it's pretty pathetic and seemingly modless
  14. What a bizare disease. Some of it is apparantly psychosomatic. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Morgellons
  15. He's safe. Great play though for little league. And wtf? Dusty actually said those things? I thought everyone on here was just joking about that! My goodness...
  16. Hillarious article. Makes you wonder how these people get jobs. Then again, we can't all be talented enough to write for the prestegious Northwest Indiana Times.
  17. Id love to see him back and have him retire as a Cub, but the organization already burned the bridge with him.
  18. hahahaha on an unrelated note, too bad we suck
  19. I'm 6'2 and have a pretty good reach, so I can probably cover 1b. Although, on this team, 6'2 makes me pretty short, haha. I can't hit or field as well as lee, but damn is my voice smooth. I also promise to swing 99% less than Mabry, esp when the pitch is shoulder-high :D I'll say "no doubt about it" a lot too.
  20. Steriods? I'm just sayin'... Ok, obviously kidding. I really liked Gonzo- great glove. I actually felt awful for him (as well as for me) when he booted that DP ball. I remember going to two games in one season, I don't remember which, where he had a game-winning hit. Awesome.
  21. Really, what's 2 more years of losing after 98?
  22. I was standing down the first base line... When he showed bunt, i thought he was going to bring it back and maybe take a swing. After the play was over, my section was almost completely silent... and then came the booing. Honestly... WTF?
  23. I just hope we can continue to see him performing well against non-completely terribly hitting clubs.
